Incompetent employees

Took my wife's car to them due to what seemed to be the battery draining when car left unused for more than a few days. They tested it and said there was an excessive drain due to two components - a tracker that we did not know was installed and the Bluetooth module that was standard on the car. They disconnected both and said the drain now was now at an acceptable level. Charge £168. Next day the battery was flat again. They came and picked up the car and said they carried out more tests which suggested the battery was at fault and fitted a new one. Charge £126. I have spoken to other auto electricians since and they have both said that the very first thing they should have done is change the battery, also a Bluetooth module and tracking unit will not cause excessive drain. So, I paid £294 for a £50 battery due to complete incompetence or maybe this is their normal practice.

I have had headlights on one of my cars keep blowing, I took my car to BAE who found the issue and sorted it out for me (some loose pins) now they saved me alot of grief so I rate that 5/5, however I did pay alot of money for them to do so that in fairness they did give me a good discount on. I would use them again, very polite and helpful staff.

Further to my complaint of the 8th…

Further to my complaint of the 8th October about the multiple failures of the company I have now found the fault with the central locking when I took it in for an MOT. It passed first time the only problem that they fixed was a fault on the headlight unit that BAE was supposed have fixed twice. Amazingly the locking now works again so it appears to be something with the light.
Do not let this company near your vehicle.

Poor service Watch out they do a very poor job and…

Watch out they do a very poor job and when you have to take it in again they try to charge for fixing their own failure.
To add to the problem my central locking mechanism is now not functioning on the camper door. I am having to take it into another garage to fix the problem as BAE refused to take responsibility saying it could have been a coincidence

Thank you for providing the information we requested via Trustpilot. I’ve found your booking in our system for the 07/10/2024. I’m sorry to hear you weren’t satisfied with the repair.
It looks like the vehicle was brought in to address two issues: the malfunctioning camera and a problem with the o/s/f lights blowing out.

From the technician’s notes, it appears they identified that the bulb was blowing due to a loose connector behind the bulb holder. They tightened it, reassembled the headlight, and tested it, confirming everything was working properly. The notes also indicate the following work was carried out:

Check O/S/F lights, headlight is ok and working.
O/S/F indicator is working, check connections in bulbholder, all ok.
Open headlight and check all connections.
Find loose connector in plug after the bulbholder.
Tighten connector and test, all ok.
Rebuild/reassemble headlight, all connections clean and free from corrosion.
All ok at time of test.

At your requested the technician also fitted a N/S headlight you supplied details are as followed -
Swap N/S headlight with new one supplied
Remove front grill and infill for access.
Remove complete headlight.
Remove all bulbs.
Fit bulbs into new headlight.
Fit/mount new headlight on to vehicle.
Refit grill and infill.
Test headlight, all working.
All ok at time of test.

Regarding the camera, the technician's notes contain the following details:

Check camera operation, not working.
Check the camera, camera is ok
Remove inside accessible panelling to try and access wiring and connections from camera, all connections are ok.
All visible wiring is ok.
Check mirror monitor power supply and earth, all ok.
Switch on display manually by button. Monitor and camera both working.
Check signal for reverse gear, signal is missing.
Check wiring loom (camera and monitor) from front to rear of vehicle, wire is ok.
Connection/connector is behind all the panels in rear, not easily accessed.
Call customer about opening rear door but find doors have been shut permanently. Doors have been modified not to open.
Customer asked if we could leave the monitor just switched on as that option is working.

We also found that the reversing sensors were not working. Since both the reverse signal for the camera and the sensors are not functioning, it suggests an issue in this area. The technician would need access to the rear panel, but this is not possible due to the rear doors being sealed shut and impeding access.

The camera in question was installed by us in November 2023 to replace your previous one, which had severe water ingress and corrosion inside the lens, causing it to stop working. During the same visit, you also reported issues with the o/s main beam. The technician found corroded terminals in the bulb holder, so they disassembled it, cleaned the corroded contacts, reassembled the bulb holder, and tested it, confirming everything was working properly.

Good customer care

After Halfords failed to programme in my new car battery (to my Nissan Juke) it resulted in my second battery failure in two years.
Bristol Auto Electrical explained everything, ran diagnostics and battery check. Several staff members proved to be pleasant, helpful and willing to explain the issues. Good customer care. Many thanks.

Superb service, with a smile

Superb service, with a smile! I'd been told (by another repairer) the instrument cluster on my Vauxhall Vectra needed replacing, but I'd been unable to source one. Bristol Auto-Electrical tested it thoroughly, found the problem, and fixed it, within a few hours, and gave me a detailed breakdown of exactly what they'd done. They cleaned up the cluster-face while they were at it, too, so it's much, much easier to read. I'm absolutely delighted. It's an old car, so replacing bits is not usually possible as they're just not available. Finding people who will repair is not easy either. I can't recommend BAE too highly.

Not impressed

Not impressed.
Bought two Relion battery’s on offer £238.90 each then email arrived. Stating they can’t deliver battery’s to Manchester.
Said they would refund me that day ?
Just got the refund today ! 6 days after.
Then I see the battery’s back up for sale £370 each. Scam comes to mind.

I spoke with you on Friday the 28th at 7:19 am after you placed the order and explained the situation regrading sending batteries nationally. The only postage option you would have seen is the collection option, albeit its not to clear when ordering. We are working on the website to come up with something a little clearer as it does cause some confusion.

I said that we would process the refund today (28th). Refunds usually take 1-3 working days most of the time its 1 working day. I would assume the payment processors, or the banks do not issue refunds over the bank holiday. We processed the refund on the 28/4/2023 @ 14:54 its then up to the payment processer to send the funds and your bank to allocate them to your account. I am sorry for any confusion caused. I should have explained in a little more detail, I’m glad you received the refund this morning.

The relion batteries where on offer during a April 2023 clearance sale at 199.95 ex VAT/ 239.94 inc VAT. The offer has now ended so the price has reverted to the original price of 308.95 ex vat/ 370.74 in VAT. For transparency They will most likely end up going back on sale as a permanent clearance offer.

If you have a copy of the invoice, it should show you a breakdown of what was charged with work carried out. Here's a break down of the job sheet and cost.

Headlights + Horn not working
Check vehicle for above fault.
Horn not working at time of test.
Check for supply and ground at horn with horn plate depressed.
Supply present, but ground missing.
Remove horn plate and steering wheel for access.
Found contacts no longer making connection to steering wheel.
Re-shape contacts.
Re-fit steering wheel and horn plate.
Test - Horn now sounding when horn plate depressed.
Remove old headlight assemblies.
Replace with customer supplied replacement units.
Test - All OK.

X2 labour total of 133.33 ex vat
X2 472 bulbs total of 9.52 ex vat
X2 233 bulbs total of 1.12 ex vat
Grand Total of 143.97 ex vat (172.76 inc vat)

I did chat to the technician and from my understanding the headlamps are a push fit, he thinks its most likely the rubber mount is slightly degraded due to age of vehicle but we are more than happy to take a look for you. As per the job sheet they tested everything before asking you to collect. We are more than happy to rectify the issue for you.

I can assure you we are not charging the NHS £4000 for a wheelchair repair. The bill you accidently took was a quote to supply and fit trackers to 10 of their vehicles.
