This company should not be allowed to trade.
Dress ordered, described as lined with embroidered flowers on.
This was the cheapest printed polyester you can imagine. Kept offering me partial refunds, and staing it would cost me more than the dress is worth to return. It must hast cast less that £2 to make. I had paid £39.95. Fuming to say the least.
I eventually got 50% of the cost back. How can they get away with trading? AVOID AVOID AVOID. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE CROOKS.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The worst dress I have ever received - misrepresentation of fabric (‘hand embroidered’ without a single stitch of hand embroidery), cheap and shoddy. Then delays in posting, followed by being told I had to pay between £25-40 if I wanted to get a refund, something which had no mention on their website. I feel I have been scammed.

I purchased the Edith dress advertised at £139.00 reduced to £39.99. It arrived after about 4 weeks, it was of poor quality and fit. When I asked regarding a refund I was informed that it would cost appropriate, £20 to £30 to return said item. They offered me 10% refund then went to 15% i received £5.99,refund and told I could keep the dress or donate to charity. Don't touch this company with a barge pole. Jane

Not even a star. 2 dresses ordered both not at all sizes stated. Ask for return address assuming one on the bag which is in UK. Told I have to send to China & will get 25/30% of money paid for items as the fee for postage is £25/£30. Surely this is against trading standards.

After waiting so long to arrive after chasing have to say the quality is shocking you can see right through the dress.what a complete waste of time and money. Feeling ripped off!

I am writing this because I own a homeware company with a very similar name, Ella James, and I am constantly receiving emails and complaints meant for Ella and James London.

Please do your research before ordering. They are NOT based in London, they are based in Toronto and drop ship from China. Returns cost anywhere between £20 - £40 and orders can take 3+ weeks to arrive.

All their images are stolen from other brands and they use AI generated images for their lifestyle pictures. I am so shocked people actually fall for this. I get calls daily from middle aged women thinking they bought from me when you can clearly see my website is legit and nowhere does it show horrific clothing from China. WE ARE A HIGH END HOMEWARE COMPANY.

It’s becoming increasingly frustrating as I have no connection to this company, yet I regularly deal with confused customers who believe they have ordered from us.

My business is NOT associated with Ella and James London in any way. Please always check reviews and company details carefully before purchasing online. It's really not hard to do you research and open your eyes. Look at their T&C's.

The below is the email sent by Ella & James when I asked for a refund for £80 clothing that I bought which came with very bad quality. It's a scam!

I want to give minus stars. I am so angry at myself for falling for their snazzy marketing. I thought this was an actual London based company. What a total rip off. I paid £40 for what looked like a lovely dress. It took 3 weeks to come and the package was so light that I knew how bad it was going to be before I opened it. The dress was so badly made and the material the cheapest I have ever seen...like a fancy dress costume! I requested a refund and they have just offered me 10% return or 25 pound postage! What! I have told them where to go with that. I should have read these reviews first, feel completely ripped off. Joke of a company making fortunes by ripping people off.

OMG do NOT buy from this company total scam, no invoice no notice of arrival but taken out of my account day after ordered 😡 my so called dress arrived after over 3 weeks, absolutely awful like a nightdress cheap material and it was £40 ! Wanted a refund but can’t find any information where to send it 😡 have emailed several times and no reply 😡 DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY 😡😡😡😡

Please don’t buy from this company - still haven’t received a dress I ordered and service is appalling. No record of my order having been placed and it was supposed to be dispatched and arrive through Royal Mail .

If I could give this company less than one star I would.. minus 5 stars would be about right. Oh how I wish I'd read the reviews before I ordered what I thought was a reduced dress from £150 to £45.. a) it doesn't fit & b) I wouldn't be seen cutting the lawn in it & now the best of it is upon asking how I return it I am offered 15% back to keep this rubbish item as it will cost me between £25 & £40 to return it. It took 2 & a half weeks to arrive & is awful. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY!!

Absolute joke of a company I ordered some Mary Jane’s style shoes I think I paid about £40 for them but they were meant to be a lot more than that double that I think… they arrived in a plastic bag and they look like they’re made out of felt and plastic cheap ..nasty ..nothing like I’ve ordered quality is awful. They’ve definitely come from China screams of Temu on a really bad day. It took ages to arrive also I couldn’t even be bothered to deal with the palaver of a refund. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬

DO NOT BUY! THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. Extremely poor quality and a nightmare to returnI Clothing was not was even close to the photo or what I expected.
When I tried to return, I spent almost one month NOT being able to. First, they represented themselves as NEW YORK but I had to return to CHINA with postage starting at $24.95. The very friendly (and totally inefficient) customer service continued to offer a 35% refund and I could keep the clothes. It was a long, frustrating ordeal. I eventually settled for a return of 45% because of the high cost and very long time to return and (maybe) get a full refund. SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE. DO NOT BUY FROM ELLA JAMES BOUTIQUE. THEY ARE A SCAM!

Oh, my! I ordered a jacket in XL, and when it arrived, it is marked XL but fits like a Small. Instead of their “money back guarantee”, I was told I could keep the jacket but would need to send $12.50 to cover shipping. Assuming it was a single jacket that was mismarked, I ordered another one. It, too, is equally small! But guess what? Now they are offering a paltry 10% discount to spend MORE money with them? Ridiculous!! SCAM… SCAM… SCAM!!!! STAY AWAY!

I unfortunately fell for this joke of a company as I purchased a dress from the website on September 21, 2025 and received the product on October 8, 2025. What I saw on the website, was NOT what was delivered. What I got was a cheap as sh*t shapeless dress, nothing compared to what I ordered. I took one look at it and wanted to send it back but when I tried to initiate a return I was told shipping was my responsibility and that I would have to pay at least $25 to send it back to ASIA. When I looked up the reviews, I learned that others had gone through the process only to be told that the package never arrived, leaving them ripped off of the refund with the added insult of paying them to do it with the shipping charges. I should have investigated this scam of a company before purchasing. Lesson learned. PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS CRAPPY, DISHONEST, ILLEGITIMATE WEBSITE! Hopefully more people will see these reviews and not be scammed like I was. The dress I received is a joke and unwearable.

Ordered three casual shirts large…..took weeks to arrive….fit like a small to medium. Asked to return for larger size they said keep the shirts, send $24.50 to offset shipping and the would send a coupon equal to my original cost. Wish I’d read the reviews before ordering! Crap!

This company is a scam! They promise a refund within 30 days on their website. However, they tell you when you contact them they can't give you a refund due to high costs of shipping, etc. They finally offered me a 10% refund of the cost after multiple emails. The quality of the item was terrible. The size medium is more like size extra-small. I am incredibly disappointed. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

This company is a total scam. The fabric is closer to cardboard than clothing fabric and there is no way to get your money back despite what the website says, they will not take returns.
