Physical work or hot weather causes all of us to sweat and when we do, we lose vital electrolytes from the body. The same goes for our horses. Electrolytes are a collection of common minerals, including sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium and calcium, which work together to support efficiency in the body. Replenishing and maintaining the balance of essential electrolytes benefits horses by: Helping ensure your horse remains sufficiently hydrated. Preserving a healthy balance of fluids in the body’s cells and also maintaining a healthy acid-base (pH). Imbalances can have a significant impact on overall health. Helps efficiently process waste and maintains muscle function; without a healthy, replenished balance of electrolytes, muscles are more likely to suffer from cramps. A lack of electrolytes is linked to poor performance, low mood and a dull coat. Not only lost from sweat, electrolytes are also lost through urine and faeces. Omega Equine’s electrolyte product is gentle on the stomach and, unlike other products, has a unique formula that won’t put horses off their feed.
