Was left waiting at the Loughborough…

Was left waiting at the Loughborough bus stop at 2.15 in the morning. Waited till 2.30 and called up customer service to be rudely spoken to by the staff. They said a new bus would come in 1 hours time. It's cold and I have nowhere to go. This is outrageous. I have no information of when. I cant go home or go anywhere this early in the morning

Waiting in the cold, charged over double.

Waiting in the cold in Bristol, me and my friend were told the bus was full and there would be a second on the way (why overbook a coach anyway, and if so, this should’ve been made clear before hand). The next bus would be 30 minutes we were told, so we went and sat at the sheltered side of the station. We waited for an hour, to be told that the bus arrived minutes after our original. We had to book the next bus, which was more expensive and were told this would be refunded due to the miscommunication, however the next day this is not what happened and I was refused a refund for the second ticket.
In a student, now going to Bristol has cost me nearly £70 with megabus, so I won’t be eating this week.

Megabus’ claims of cheap travel and friendly service are utter deception, £70 is a lot for a student in full time education. I hope they read this and understand how truly let down I am.

Buses from Cardiff to London are often late to depart.

Buses from Cardiff to London are often late by 30 mins to depart. Passengers are left with no option but to wait patiently on the streets in freezing cold. Plus it is complete chaos when boarding the bus as the person who checks the tickets fails to handle the crowd properly. He should simply let passengers keep their luggage under the bus first and then let passengers board from both the doors to avoid overcrowding at one door only. Things can be easily managed if only Megabus can use little bit of common sense. Also at least make some effort to depart the buses on time. Regular 30 mins delay without any explanation is unacceptable. Passengers get late for their onward journey due to this.

Kind of like sewage mixed with torture...

Just got the mega bus from London to Leeds. Arrived in Leeds an hour later than advertised. There wasn’t any unexpected traffic so not sure why it happened, but it’s £12: I’m not gonna complain. What I will complain about are the conditions on the bus. Could you maybe give people just a tiny bit more leg room? Like, literally 4 inches more? Just so I don’t get pins and needles or get cramp in my neck from having to watch stuff on my iPad like a demented pelican: Is that too much to ask? I may have only paid £12 but I’m not a chicken. I’m going vegetarian after this. I have a new found sympathy for chickens. Now let’s discuss the ventilation and general condition of the air on the bus: Absolute deep fat fryer (Kieron Dyer). Air con didn’t work and there are no windows so after about an hour the whole bus smelt like a mixture of fecal matter, urine and hoisin duck wraps from pret. Last part was my bad but on its own a duck wrap from pret is quite alluring, however, mixed in with loads of strangers fecal matter and urine it becomes headache inducing. About 90 mins in I forgot what fresh air actually smells like. Imagine that! I’ve had 31 years of the stuff but these lot don’t muck (pun intended) about when it comes to totally ruining oxygen. It’s only 10 degrees outside today but because of the lack of ventilation it was uncomfortably warm. That thick, smelly warm that only comes from having too many humans packed in a tight space with nowhere for the heat and smell to escape too. Kind of like an orgy but minus the fun part. God knows what it’d have been like in summer. There are a few very basic tweaks you need to make and you’ll have yourself a very respectable business. Of course they won’t be made, because they’d take the kind of effort and money that whoever runs the company knows they don’t really NEED to spend. So you’ll just carry on squeezing every single penny you possibly can out of the general public whilst offering them a nose full of human waste as a thank you for using your, quite frankly, revolting service. So, to sum up, mega bus is essentially a microcosm of all the injustice, greed, suffering, imbalance & selfishness of mankind. That said, I’m skint cos I live in London so I’ll be seeing you lot again at Xmas. Only this time I’ll bring me nose peg. And so the cycle of life continues. Jesus bloody wept.

Absolutely boiling and unsafe for baby…

Absolutely boiling and unsafe for baby on Heathrow to Cardiff bus. It's autumn and it's so hot I've seen 5-10 people go up to driver concerned about how hot the bus is. We're traveling with a baby and it's unsafe with the air con not working and instead hot air blowing everywhere. I'm reviewing because Megabus promises aircon and it's a big, successful company so you should get what you pay for and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with providing unsafe conditions when they could easily remove the bus to get it fixed. I've seen a few reviews about this problem with this bus to Cardiff and it's terrible that Megabus hasn't done anything about it. They shouldn't be allowed to operate unsafe journeys with heat this unbearable!

Ethically dubious

I used Megabus precisely once, a few years ago. A drunken passenger, who was far too inebriated to have been allowed to board in the first place, subjected me to homophobic abuse, in full view of the driver, who did precisely nothing about it. Sadly, this happens all too often on public transport even today. It was only later that I realised that the owner of the company is notorious for campaigning against LGBT equality, and has spent a large amount of his own money on it - not that this stopped him being awarded a knighthood, of course. So in retrospect, complaining about the driver's lack of action probably wouldn't have had any effect. For all I know, he may have been following company policy. I don't care how cheap and cheerful this company's buses are, I won't be going back.

Very poor and rubbish service

Very poor and rubbish service
I highly recommend that no body will use Mega-bus anymore.
The last time the staff intended to delay the journey 55 minutes by waiting for another journey going to another city and merged the 2 journeys in one bus and changed the original route. When we asked for a refund, they refused and said that everything is normal. This is not the first time that Mega-bus intends to make a delay. They do not respect the passengers and they do not respect the rules and regulations.

I'm very sorry to hear of the delay you have recently encountered. We have a duty of care to provide to all passengers who travel on our coaches. This includes having to ensure that all passengers are transported onto the final destination as safely as possible.

We operate connecting journeys which include either a change of coach with megabus.com, or another company which we are partnered with. The only time we would hold a coach back would be to wait for the connection journey if the coach was the last one to operate on that day.

If there is a later coach, we will transfer the delayed passengers onto the next available service to ensure the delay is kept to a minimum.

However, we do understand how frustrating delay can be and we apologise sincerely for the inconvenience it may have caused to you.

Very poor costomer service and company…

Very poor costomer service and company and I will never travel with them again! I was on an 8 hour bus ride from Leeds to Southampton and of which the bus stopped in Birmingham and I was told we'll be there for an hour with claims to change bus drivers and that we can get off. I returned in 3 mins and the bus was gone.

The issue is now getting my lost property back, I've done the lost property form and waited 28 days and now they are saying i didn't fill out a form. I have proof of email correspondence of me filling out the form and them saying they have it but now all of a sudden they're saying something different.

I'm highly disappointed and will never travel with them again, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Exeter to Leeds return was on time both…

Exeter to Leeds return was on time both ways, amazing value and yes the seats are a bit uncomfortable but it is a coach so I didn't expect great comfort. WiFi is better than the train too.

Ive been traveling with megabus for…

Ive been traveling with megabus for 2years already , but today was the worst experience for me and my friends. We’ve never been scold for bringing 30kg of luggage, like we always do (as flight baggage limit is usually 30kg). My friends and i been scolded because of this. Plus the driver said the luggage was 50kg, which obviously stated on the tag 30kg. The bus coordinator was being so rude, he should’ve said properly as we still can tolerate if he want us to pay more. We will never travel with megabus again.

I'm very sorry to hear this. As stated within the terms and conditions, the luggage allowance for all megabus services is 20kg maximum. If you have more than the advised 20kg you have to buy an extra ticket in order to take the extra luggage with you.

Still waiting for the bus....

Currently waiting at Leicester for a bus overdue by 50 minutes now. Supposed to arrive at 1:55am. It’s early hours, traffic will not be an issue. What is causing this delay. I have never been on a Megabus service that arrives on time, seems to be a trend throughout the reviews.

Bought tickets through phone

Bought tickets through phone. After selecting journey I was asked if I wanted to add a student fare. I assumed this meant it would discount ticket id aleady selected. I confirmed I wanted to add 1 NUS card.
The company charged me for a whole additional person.
I've been swindled. No apology or sympathy from the online or telephone customer service agents.
Worst service. Won't bother again.

Cheap and Cheerful

I've used Megabus for over 40 return trips in the last four years (that's 80+ individual journeys), most recently four days ago. Coaches almost always on time, and often early on arrival. Rare major delays were usually due to traffic accidents slowing all traffic.

The fares are cheap, and the online purchase process fairly straightforward. Check all the details before paying! Many of the complaints here would have been avoided if people had checked carefully before booking. For me a big advantage is you don't need a printer nor do you need to have a smartphone (I don't). Just write the full ticket number down on paper and show it to the driver (also useful if your smartphone is out of charge/not working on the day).

Sure, the seats are not as comfortable as the train, but the fares are a quarter of the price, you don't get endless bossy announcements or people trying to sell over-priced coffee, and it's just as reliable as the alternatives, but that's just my limited experience.

Travelling from Aberdeen to Glasgow on…

Travelling from Aberdeen to Glasgow on Sept 14 at 8.35 am. The bus coordinator and the bus driver played a game while I was there 8.33 he said not sure which bus buying time to make me appear as if I am late. Where they that angry that I went for a last smoke before 3 hours journey?
The bus started moving at 8.33, while I was there: my complaint is submitted to customer service and I am waiting for an explanation. I had to miss an important meeting, 25 pounds and leaving me angry because of a childish behavior of the coordinator and the driver.

PS Update: this seems to be run by Parks and from now on national express for me. Thanks,

I love Megabus overnight London-Leeds

I use Megabus for London to Leeds. Very impressed with all aspects of the journey. At least a half hour quicker than the main competitor because Megabus don't do those annoying "refreshment stops".
Love the overnight service because the motorway is clear.
In fact I am going again tonight 10th September. Looking forward to it.

Travelling from Nottingham down to…

Travelling from Nottingham down to London Victoria on the 7th sept 1000hrs , firstly bus is delayed over half hour and the driver is constantly harsh braking and making the journey very unpleasant , feeling very sick and being thrown about in the toilet , making my back twinge in the seat, thank goodness for seatbelts! .

The Bus from london-Glasgow and vise…

The Bus from london-Glasgow and vise versa is usually on time. My only complaints are the state of the toilets, the usual lack of WiFi and the air blowers do not work efficiently. It is good if you are on a tight budget and have no other way of travelling such long distances. I do feel however that they could address some of the issues raised ie state of toilet and effectiveness of air blowers.

We do clean and drop the toilets before each departure. Unfortunately, due to the passenger demand for the toilets, it can be very difficult to maintain the conditions during the journey :(

Always late

Always late, an hour late today and website s*t give you return date on previous days? Customer service s* agent shouting openly at you? Never ever again, and Tickets more and more expensive, better take trains...

Unlike train providers, we travel on public roads, during rush hour periods of the day. Therefore, due to the nature of our business we have to expect that delays can happen at any time. Traffic, roadworks or accident may impact the operation. We do try and minimise the delays as much as possible.
