Not clean, tired Villa - all in all 4/10

We stayed 2 weeks in Abahana Villas Ivars in July 2022 and there were 8 adults.
First things first: this Villa is a 45 minute to 1 hour walk into calpe. It is not close to the beach or shops. Taxis cost between 7€ - 12€ midweek and 16-18€ at the weekend to get to where the beach and shops are. The abahana Villa key office is a taxi ride costing 20€ from the villa. It’s not very clear in the advert - it’s a lovely quiet area but be aware how far out it is. The posting says very close to beach - that beach is full of seaweed and not for public use realistically. Very deceiving.
The villa itself: when we got into the Villa, we felt disappointed in the lack of cleanliness. There were cigarette tab ends in the door frame, windows and on the floors and there was a layer of dust on everything. It seemed as though the Villa has been empty for a few weeks even a month or so and not cleaned before our arrival. When we opened the indoor kitchen cupboard there was a dead cockroach lying in there. Disgusting. The indoor kitchen cupboards really smelt bad so we didn’t use the indoor kitchen at all other than for the oven - we struggled using this and a rep from abahana came and showed us how to use it early on in the holiday. Very helpful customer service to come out and show us how to use it.
A few things worth noting are that the villa does not provide bedding - they do recommend a rental company but we brought our own. Wardrobes had about 5 hangers in each one and there are only 2 rooms with air conditioning - one twin room upstairs and the single bedroom downstairs. We stayed during a heatwave so struggled but nobody is to blame for that. There were 3 standing fans - 1 didn’t work and was sparking. The single bed downstairs was a very short child size bed - villa advertises ‘sleeps 9’ - it realistically sleeps 7 adults and 2 children not 9 adults. There were 6 sun beds despite sleeping 9 people so 2 of us had to go without and rotate and this really impacted our holiday. We asked if there were 2 spare and abahana said they would send 2 out but a few days later when I chased this up I was told they cannot provide any extra. The villa is very tired, it needs some loving. The fridge in the indoor kitchen has some dents and rusted marks in that just made it look really scruffy. The outdoor fridge didn’t close properly, there were problems with the seal so things didn’t stay properly cold and freezer items melted throughout the day. The outdoor kitchen is an amazing feature of this villa, it really made the holiday for us because we spent most of our time here. The kitchenware is limited - think ‘caravan mismatch’ but we didn’t mind that really. A few essentials missing but we made it work.
The pool needed maintenance - weeds overgrown around the edges and cigarette tabs all over the floor. Not once during our stay did someone check the chlorine levels or other pool checks expected. Everything just felt like there was no love in the cleaning in preparation for us being there. We took photos of the dirtiness. The villa has so much potential - if it had been clean and a little more looked after it would’ve been better. Wifi worked ok - as for the TV it had no English channels on the TVs but not a bother at all we only noticed because we had 1 traveller with us who is a very poorly man. Not a big deal about the TV.

Avoid Abahana Villas

When we arrived in the villa Nani, we have a bad surprise. Photos on the internet do not reflect reality (Photoshop and strategic shots to hide all flaws). Many things are run down. But that's not the worst ! Outside the villa there are lots of cigarette butts and bird droppings.

Inside, the villa smells of cat pee, cleaning is sketchy, and many things are old-fashioned and worn. In the kitchen, the cutlery drawers really don't smell good.

In the rooms some cushions are yellowed or in questionable condition. Considering the price I paid, I'm really not satisfied! I have young children with fragile health.  The villa is dirty and maybe dangerous for them. It is scandalous to offer this villa in such conditions at such a high price! Customer reviews on the official website are not true!

ABAHANA VILLAS are not serious, customers pay for cleaning and it is not done. They are not professional, I received no compensation.

Please please please do not go anywhere…

Please please please do not go anywhere near this company, the customer service was only in favour of their bank account, my 10 year old caught Covid on the way to the villa so we had to return home for obvious reasons, this company were no help at all, no advise, no refund, no part refund and no rescheduling for a later date in the year, all they really wanted to know was whether we would be using the villa within the 2 weeks we had booked, I believe this was because they wanted to book it out again to double there money, it will be interesting to see how this pans out, but please do not use this company Abahana Villas.

Let down

If you own a beautiful house or villa in Spain do not do it the injustice of allowing Abahana Villas to manage it.
No flexibility in arrival time, we had to drive to Calpe to collect keys, was given the wrong alarm code and the electric had tripped. Ordered linen through their sidekick company, 107 euros for 2 beds and 2 towel packs, I could have bought bed linen and towels cheaper and discarded them - no one showed us around the house, very impersonal service - at the end of our trip and before an early flight had to strip the beds of all the linen and drive back to Calpe to drop the keys off
Abahana Villas working model only benefits them and not their customers or clients - I will avoid any property that uses this company

WARNING - DO NOT BOOK WITH ABAHANA VILLAS!!!

From beginning to end Abahana Villas were absolutely useless and as a result our family holiday was ruined. The villa was stunning, but there were some serious problems that Abahana failed to resolve.

First of all, on confirming the booking on AirBnB we were presented with a link to buy bed linen, but there was no mention on the AirBnB listing or in the messages beforehand that there would be an additional charge for bed linen, which cost a minimum of €80 for a family. On top of the charge the bed linen was delivered in a bag so we had to make and strip the beds ourselves. We also had a late check in, which cost extra and the keys had to be collected at their office which was miles away.

On arrival there was a disgusting smell of sewage throughout and it was also obvious that it hadn’t been cleaned. We soon discovered that sewage was overflowing from the manhole cover to the side of the villa, which was eventually cleared, but still smelled for days afterwards.

In addition, the boiler stopped working on the second day and they were unable to fix it during our stay, which left us with water that was too cold to shower with for the majority of our holiday.

Despite reporting the issues immediately they messed us around continuously by asking us to stay in to wait for maintenance men, who never came. We had to cancel plans and spent over half our time waiting around for hours on end for no one to turn up. It turned out that they’d lost the spare set of keys, which was why they expected us to stay at the villa.

The whole experience was totally unacceptable and I would strongly advise anyone to avoid Abahana Villas altogether.

Vi lejede hus i altea der stod det lå rolige omgivelser men de havde lige glemt at skrive huset lå op ad en motorvej har klagede over det i 2 måneder og får dårlige undskyldninger hele tiden 🙄🙄

So Disappointing.. Never again with Abahana

So disappointing..Never again with Abahana.We rented Villa Puerto del sol in Moraira. The villa was in a wonderful location and had spectacular views but beyond that it was basic enough. We had to collect Keys in the office-15-20 mins on the other side of Moraira.Keys were handed over ,there were no instructions on how the villa's amenities or how they operated.The guide book that was hidden in a drawer (found on day 2) had a generic set of rules but nothing that was particular to the villa we were in-so not much use.We were bringing elderly parents for a break to visit family in an area that we know well .We were expecting self catering but did not expect to have to make our own beds on arrival... Sheets and towels were in laundry bags in the hallway. ..we were fortunate that we didn't have to pay extra for the lack of service!Apparently we had booked early enough to avoid having to pay for sheets and towels..We had a fridge that didn't work , a freezer that was completely iced up , a blocked sink and.....
no hot water for 5 days despite many calls to the office and emergency number-which they don't answer after8pm..?Not exactly the luxury villa as advertised.I made 6 calls to the office number and emergency numbers..
Every phone call was supposedly logged but there was no resolution until I presented myself at the Moraira office in person on Day 3 of no hot water ..and then I was told that the office manager was on Holiday..the issue was resolved in the next 24 hrs by which time we had already had to make alternative arrangements. I was promised that there would be a communication but as yet..10 days after our return home there has been no apology or communication. LESSON LEARNT-
DO NOT BOOK WITH ABAHANA

What has happened Abahana?

This is the 4th time we rent a villa in the Calpe/Benissa area through Abahana and obviously we've been if not jubilant about their service henceforth, then at least satisfied. Unfortunately this year we've experienced a couple of examples of bad service. Firstly, we arrived at Abahana Calpe office at 8.30 pm and had to pay a later-than-8pm-"fine" for late arrival(as per information we'd received beforehand, so no complaints here - but maybe they ought to differentiate the cost - made sense with a difference between 8.30pm and 2am arrival) . The clerk at the office spoke practically no english, and after signing various papers presented by him and paying the "fine", we trailed him as he drove to the villa we had rented. At this time it was dark, and we had expected more introduction to the villa than just being handed a bunch of 10 different keys. Off the Abahana clerk went and my wife and I had to carefully walk around the house (in darkness - with only our mobile phones light to guide us) to check out how to enter and which keys were for what doors. The second example of bad service was a missing cupboard iron bar for hangers in a room that two weeks later our son and his partner would be occupying when visiting with us. Right now, almost 2 weeks following the first contact with Abahana about this ( and 3 reminders) nothing has happened......
Also 2 weeks ago told them the remote control for the SKY tv doesn't work - nothing has happened on that score either - not a problem for us, we did not come here for watching tv - were just trying to be helpful. Very disappointing Abahana - would have expected you were much more on your toes now that tourists finally return after COVID-19...

My wife and 4 friends had booked a villa In Early 2020 . They are flying out on the 8th sept , Abahana villa emailed on 30th aug to say the villa was no longer available, cut a long story short , have had nothing but very very poor service from this company and been ripped off by £170 incompetent and unprofessional company would never use of recommend again .

Do not rent with them - try and rent from owners directly !

Clearly there are quite some issues with arrival procedure with this agency.

They mention that arrival is as from 17h until 20h. You would assume that you can enter your villa as from 17h but read further for their version of this arrival procedure…

We arrived just before 17h and received our keys from a nice lady, a contract with phone number in case of questions and emergency number (to call outside office hours).

Upon arrival in the villa it was clear it had not been cleaned, and was extremely filthy.
We called the number of the agency but no reply, called the emergency number also with no reply.
We drove back tot he agency (30 min. total drive!) and told them the villa was very dirty, we did not think they were going to get it clean the same day such was the state it was in… the villa in general was upon first view also dissapointing so we suggested we change villa.
‘Not possible’, was their reaction, ‘we have an agreement with the owners which does not allow changing’ and we are only the go-between. We think they could have negotiated better contracts than that…that would have avoided this review.

Their reply to the non-cleaning was also : ‘arrival is BETWEEN 17h and 20h’, so it’s ‘perfectly possible’ that if you arrive at 17h, your villa is not cleaned yet. This is an unheard of arrival procedure ! We have rented a lot of houses in Spain, never heard anything like this.

We returned tot the villa, the cleaners had arrived and someone from Abahana gave them the keys (did not even enter to check the villa as far as we saw !) The cleaning team gave more info on the matter : the villa was just not on the list for cleaning that day, the fact that they had not cleaned it had NOTHING to do with Abahana’s strange arrival procedure ! (Abahana's receptionists did not realize we understood Spanish and therefore understood the cleaners, otherwise we would probably never have known the truth about the matter)

The house itself had more than one issue : the pictures on the site were old, taken when the house was in far better condition. The outside area is disappointing and a main fact about the location has been conveniently left out : the quite busy motorway passes just before the house in the valley with considerable noise.
Without going in too much detail , this house is far too basic to be rented out. A few examples : there are 2 small terrace tables, not convenient for eating with 4 people outside, the pool area is small (smaller than seems on the pictures), the kitchen is much older than on the pictures and is stocked with absolutely nothing ( !) not even a dishcloth. Most importantly, no airco in the bedrooms (we knew) but also (unthinkable in Spain) NO FANS ! Not even the cheapest 30€ models you can get anywhere !

The name of the villa we rented was Villa Micolina in Senaji.
Even though it was a cheap last minute, it was too much to pay for this basic house and poor service…

This was a disappointing week for us and we feel we have learned a lesson : we will try to rent directly from owners as we have done sometimes before. Owners who get to meet their renters in person often give much better service !!!

Ualmindelig god service

Lejet et hus via Homeaway. Det viste sig at være ubeboeligt for os.
Abahanavillas hjalp os med et andet hus hurtigt og professionelt. De blev flere timer efter fyraften, for at hjælpe os.
Vil næste gang søge deres hjemmeside først, da service er i top og priser er rimelige. Vi vil til en hver tid bruge dem igen

Abahana Villas recommendation

Recently stayed in Calpe with family and booked a villa through Abahana Villas.
What a holiday and what a villa. Excellent service provided from the office staff, nothing was too much trouble. We were celebrating an '80th' birthday and the staff definitely made it special for us all. The villa we stayed in was amazing and we booked the transfers through them too and everything was excellent.
Thank You for a fabulous holiday. Wil recommend you to all. Excellent Service and quality provided all round.

We hired the villa at Moraira Sport

We hired the villa at Moraira Sport. this was a lovely villa in a peacefull area. We had chosen this because of the lovely main pool and gardens.
Sadly when we arrived the pool was empty and undergoing some work.
Having informed Abahana that the only reason we had booked the villa was because of the pool/gardens. there was another pool on site which was not upto the standard of the main pool area. at no time were we informed of this even when picking up the keys. First we were told all had been informed..which we had not...then we were told sorry but nothing abahana villas could do.....NOT GOOD ENOUGH SERVICE.

Mixed experience with Abahana Villas

We had booked a Villa in Calpe, Spain, for 1 week for 1.970,- Euro. The booking procedure worked fine, but the arrival and handover of the keys did not work as promised:
We had upfront asked for permission to get earlier access to the Villa, because we were travelling with a 4 months old Baby.
The Manager had promised to give us the keys upon arrival. We accepted that the cleaning of the Villa might still be ongoing due to our early arrival.
When we finally came to the office in Calpe for fetching the keys, they first could not "remember" the agrreement. When we insisted, they told us it was well enough agreed , but it was anyhow not possible to get the keys before 16:00.
Only when I got clear, that this was utterly unacceptable and the baby needed to rest (it was 35 degrees outside) after the long trip, we were allowed to talk with the manager. This finally solved the problem.

In this price category we do expect that an agrement is kept without such complications!

The villa itself was fine and the rest of the holiday without further complications.

Det er hvad de skriver på deres hjemmeside, altså easy as 1 2 3, det var ikke mig der bestilt endeligt, men det virkede meget nemt at bruge og de havde gode muligheder og priser.
Afhentning af nøgler, samt opholdet og det hus vi lejede var rigtig fint, der var god service omkring pool rens og rengøring og vi fik besøg af firmaet der kom med crossainter og ønskede os en dejlig ferie.
