Scam Sales Strategy, Fail to resolve a security issue after 26 days, and fail to fulfill the contract

Day 1: April 1, 2026
I discovered the system 103 Error on the panel and I attempted to resolve it based on previous ADT problem/solution, but that failed to permanently resolve the problem.

Day 3: April 3, 2026
I called ADT, who informed me that they were already aware of the problem (problem with ADT’s Tower and AT&T), the problem is not with my home panel, and ADT became aware of the problem on Day 2. I inquired as to how I will know when the issue is resolved, do I need to call ADT or will ADT call me, and was informed that the error on my panel will disappear when its resolved. Note, ADT is aware of the lack of security on

Day 2. Result after call: unresolved problem.

Day 6: April 6, 2026
ADT calls me, selling an extension to my contract at the current rate. She informs me that the offer is good for 30 days. I informed her that the system is not working, and she responded as if she were unaware of that status. Note, my contract does not expire for 4+ months.
Scam Alert: The government executes this same scam. They take something away, then offer you your status quo if you do something for them. In this case, if I extend the contract, then they restore the security system to it’s operating state.

Day 26: April 26, 2026
Problem persists

MY Background
As a previous Technical Specialist for the security system for a university, a communication problem between the tower and the panel is not a new security system problem to me, therefore, based on the length of this unresolved issue, its apparent that ADT deliberately created the issue and fails to resolve it.

ADT is liable for any and all issues related to the lack of security of my residence (missing items, tampering, etc.).

Poor Service

Poor Service, poor communication, breach agreements. change service without agreement and prices. Wont take my calls as I'm recording them. Wont reply to emails about cancelling my agreement even though we are out of agreement, so I stopped paying to make sure they called me. Now we are in legal dispute and they wont reply again.

Don’t fall for ADT baloney. Their service and equipment is SHODDY!

I would advise anyone looking for a home security system to AVOID ADT. I was ignorant to the differences in home security systems and fell for the ADT offer when they came soliciting in my neighborhood. I live alone and they made it sound so good with the offer of free equipment with a three year monitoring contract which costs around $65 a month. What they don’t tell you is how many times your cameras will randomly stop working. When you contact them they will blame it on your WiFi (which it almost always IS NOT the issue) Once they “troubleshoot” and can’t fix it remotely they want to charge you around $59 to come out to fix the issue with their equipment. I’ve had numerous issues with ADT’s shoddy equipment and nothing but incompetence when trying to resolve the issue. I cannot wait until I can get rid of the TRASH that ADT installed in my home. If you try to stop paying for the monitoring service you can no longer use the cameras or the alarm system SO YOU’RE STUCK with their crappy product until you have it removed to in order to get a security system that will actually work and not break down several times a year. DO NOT PURCHASE A SECURITY SYSTEM FROM ADT. Do your research and look at the reviews for other security companies. ADT is a scam. Don’t fall for it. You will regret it.

Bad business

Have tried to cancel this service at least 4 times. Not on contract anymore. Everytime I try to cancel they want to give me so many months free. Happen everytime. Didn't care about no free months, I just wanted to cancel. Been with them for about 5 years. Finally had my husband call. Sent him to three different people. Finally told him it would be a $70 fee to cancel. Why we're not under no contract!!!!. Whatever you do DO NOT DEAL WITH ADT!!!

Not happy with the long wait and the expensive charges

I have been a customer of ADT for many years. Our system broke down a couple of months ago. We tried to get a technician to come out to have a look, but were told we had to wait for two weeks! In the meantime, we were left with no security protection. As it turned out, there was a cancellation and we managed to get a technician to come after one week. The technician was thorough and professional enough, but after spending about 90 minutes testing the system and charging us over $450, he told us that the system was "dead" and we had to get a new system installed. The sales department called us very promptly to give us a quote but we were told that we would have to wait for six to eight weeks before we could have the new system in place. In the end, we decided to go for another provider who came promptly to install a new system for us.
Over the years we have been paying a monthly fee for monitoring service which we did not really need. The only reason I kept going was because it was the only way I could have remote access to my system on my phone app or via a web portal. The monthly fee was $40 and over time it added up to quite a large amount. Now with the new system from a different provider I only pay US$50 for a three-year subscription which would enable me to install the app on multiple devices to self-monitor the security system.
When we arranged for the ADT technician to come to our property, we were told that payment for his service would have to be made in full on site. We did that but we kept getting email reminders from their accounts department saying that we still owed them money. It was only after a lot of complaints and discussions that they finally admitted that their accounting system was at fault. By that stage, we were totally fed up with the company.
Once we have switched over the another provider, I called up ADT to cancel the monthly monitoring arrangement. It took them a full month to reimburse me the money they automatically debited from my account at the beginning of the new cycle.
I feel that ADT might be OK for commercial properties, but for a private domestic property like ours, the hefty monthly monitoring fee is not entirely justifiable as all it provides for is remote access to the system. We are also unhappy with the long wait for any services and financial settlement.

I cancelled my alarm installation…

I cancelled my alarm installation approximately three months ago.
Still waiting for my refund. Don’t give this company any money as taking it back is proving to be impossible. They will keep you waiting with all excuse they can provide.

Do Not give this company access to your…

Do Not give this company access to your bank account or they will never stop taking money out. Have tried giving ADT 28 days written notice to close my account which they have not done, Have tried calling them only to be left on hold then hung up on. ADT have been taken to court and fined for the exact same thing couple of years ago (Wish I knew this before signing up with them) and ADT are still doing it. In the process of seeing a lawyer just to get ADT to close my account.
