TL;DR: My mask broke after just two months of occasional use, and customer service won't do anything about it.

After I placed my order, I tried to cancel it because I found a mask that I thought would work better for me. The website clearly stared that customers could email to cancel their orders as long as they hadn't shipped yet. I emailed, but after waiting nearly two days for a response, I got the notification that my order had shipped anyway. I emailed again to complain and was offered a 50% refund. I never got the refund.

I figured since I couldn't send the mask back I might as well use it. About two months after I got it, I opened the little door on the mask and found that the door would no longer stay closed. I had only opened the door about five times total, so the latch shouldn't be anywhere near worn out. I was in a busy airport when this happened and had to switch to an ill-fitting disposable mask.

When I got home, I emailed the company again. It's been over a week, and I've gotten no response.

Really not as good as you think it will be based on the reviews on their website. If you look on their website you can't leave a review. They invite people to place good reviews only.

The mask is an annoyance and seems like it's designed purely to get you to continue to buy filters and vent blockers.

Unfortunately, I have not had a good experience with this company. My mask arrived with the filter already inserted into the mask and it looked like it had been used. I spent a week trying to get the company to reply to my emails and then they did apologise. They offered a refund and that was 5 days ago and I have still not had my funds returned or any information on how to return the mask. I have had to resort to putting a claim in through paypal due to the lack of communication.

I'm a face mask nerd and I've tested all the high quality face masks on the market - ultramasx, cambridge pro, airinum, and the 3M fish shaped FFP3 mask, which is the standard for clinical settings. The airhead is possibly the best product I have tried so far, because:

1) the high quality, comfortable head straps mean your ears won't hurt and the mask will still sit comfortably on your face, which is a weakness of the ultramasx (doesn't have proper ear straps)

2) compared to other masks with head straps, it is easier to put it on because the lower strap has two ends which click into place; and also to put it off because if you lower the top strap the mask does not bother your face (like the 3M fish mask)

3) the seal is absolutely perfect, there are no leaks and no fogged glasses; but since the mask is relatively large there is not a great deal of build up inside the mask and it's quite well ventilated (possibly because of the strategically placed exhaust valves, too)

4) the mask "door" which allows you to temporarily open the mask and drink or get some fresh air is ridiculously brilliant and it makes you wonder why other mask designers have not incorporated it - I think this will be copied very soon

5) the mask is big enough to make you breathe comfortably (and adapt perfectly to your face) but it's also light weight and wearing it doesn't feel uncomfortable; in addition, it's also stable and more suitable for sports compared to for example the ultramasx

6) it's stylish and comes in different colours - which you can change if you get bored of how it looks

7) customer service is responsive which is not always the case for start ups

everything can be improved or expanded so if I were to suggest two changes, I would maybe explore the possibility of fitting it with an internal fan (a bit like for the ultramasx, there should be enough space, to improve internal ventilation even further). I would also try and get the filters certified according to a more recent standard and it wouldn't hurt to get it medically certified as well, given the times we're living in.

The airhead mask is a great product and finally demonstrates some innovation in this area. The mask has a high quality finish and has been designed with a rider in mind as it’s easy to adjust and secure and you can open the mask without having to take it off completely. The airhead team were also quick to answer some questions I had and dispatched quickly.

I use the airhead mask every day when cycling to work. It’s far more comfortable than past CO2 masks that I’ve worn and I feel like it’s doing a much better job than other masks at keeping dirty air out! I definitely won’t be looking elsewhere for a new mask

I am grateful to have this mask that allows me to remain active despite bad air quality. I live in a city with very high pollution at times, frequently with an AQI between 200 and 400+, and exercising with the mask has been a great solution. It does a fantastic job at filtering; it is comfortable; quite breathable; and overall a great solution to keep you from taking your workouts indoors. Customer service has also been fantastic, thank you! Congratulations on a great product.
