I like the idea for using my old phones. Sometimes it crashes out but it is what it is. I have a premium account since 2022 and I like it for what it is.

I have been using ALFRED app for over 5 years and the free version is not deserving of the critisism some give in reviews - Its FREE what do you want, stop complaining about ads or lack of features. The paid version is first class and most who do have issues are as a result of the sub standard phones they are using with old operating systems . For the fixed price nothing comes close and its half the price (in UK) of RING etc. My only comment would be that support if needed is a little slow. The indoor camera (launched i think in 2022) is easy to set up and the web browser app is a doddle to use. I am just about to buy the external one.Camera is clear works well in most light conditions, but an option for specifically working through windows would be an improvement.
Set up free app and all was working fine initially, then the same day it just constantly said there was an error and camera was offline, (which it wasn't).
Contacted support, who did reply next day, and followed their suggestions regarding VPN's, whitelisting, etc, still did not work. Went back to support who could offer no further help. Gave up and bought a basic cheap Tapo camera which works great and I have been extremely pleased with.

After my camera device malfunctioned, I requested a refund or a replacement. Instead of providing a straightforward solution, your company demanded an excessive amount of information, including a copy of the camera’s recordings. This request is highly problematic for several reasons:
- **Serious Violation of Privacy:** Requiring access to personal camera footage as a condition for refund or replacement constitutes a significant intrusion into my privacy. These recordings may contain sensitive or private moments, and demanding them as part of a customer service process is inappropriate and potentially unlawful.
- **Excessive Data Requests:** The volume and nature of information requested make it extremely difficult for customers to comply, effectively discouraging legitimate warranty or refund claims.
- **Unclear Data Access and Surveillance:** According to your email correspondence, your company is able to see which cameras are on, off, or deleted. This level of access raises further concerns about the extent of surveillance and data monitoring being conducted without explicit, informed consent. It is unclear what additional information your company can access, and whether this includes live feeds, stored recordings, or other personal data.
These practices do not align with basic principles of data protection and consumer rights. I request a clear explanation of:
- What specific data your company can access from customer cameras
- The legal basis for requesting personal recordings as part of a refund or replacement process
- How you ensure the security and confidentiality of customer data
If I do not receive a satisfactory response, I will be compelled to escalate this matter to the relevant data protection authorities for further investigation.
Alfred app offers the best non-subscription security option. I use 3 old phones as cameras. Although the alerts are not instant, I do get alerts within 30 seconds. With a subscription, alerts go to Alfred's cloud service, but without, you can download video alerts directly onto your phone. Definitely a blessing.
I used Alfred in 2018, no problem. However, in 2024, I signed up for Alfred and Alfred deducted double payments from my bank account. My financial representative alerted me to the duplicate charge and proceeded to get the duplicate charge refunded. However, when Alfred was alerted to the refund the company then stopped my service so now I’ve paid the company for an annual service that they refuse to provide.
I started with the Alfred app and using an old cell phone.I found the app easy to use with plenty of helful suggestions and tips. Since then i have purchased the Alfred security camera and just recently the Alfred plus security cam for reasonable prices. I prefer the Al cams over a more expensive security system that I own. .Also my experience with Alfred Cam customer service has been great. Professional and attentive to my requests.
