Real Mechanics
Good sensible garage, repairs things that others can't be bothered to. Excellent reputation with local RAC, that has proved across 2 visits over 2 years to be accurate. Only problem with such a good reputation and abilities, they are very busy which does mean customers with major engine repairs need a little patience, but definitely worth the wait - my 2001 MG ZS has made it through thanks to Richard and Jill and drives once again as if nothing ever went wrong in the first place.

Beware of this garage
Would have given this garage 0 stars. BEWARE OF THIS GARAGE.
Management only works 2 days a week & no-one else can deal with complaints.
Dishonest with estimating & work. Priced to fit a timing chain kit, Labour 4 hours, which can only be done by taking the engine out & then tried to slip it on without taking the engine out, hence damaging the vehicle, so it can no longer be driven. Then trying adding another 12 hours labour to rectify their incompetence. The guide price to do the job is 4+ hours. They then stripped the engine out “in anticipation of the works” their word!
The Bosch Accreditation is worthless, as you have to take it up with Trading Standards via Citizens advice first, before they even look at it. Takes months. It started in January 2023 & is on going as no other local garage will take it on. Now getting it towed to Raynham to be sorted & suing All Trans Autos.

Good morning, I regret you writing this review, the vehicle is not yours and you are not our customer. We have treated the customer professionally and fair.
In January this year we were asked to provide an estimate to replace the timing chain kit. We provided the estimate and book time was 4 hours. We were asked if the kit included all the guides which it did. We did not estimate to replace all the guides as this would have meant the engine being removed. We were never asked that question by the customer.
Unlike estimates received by the customer from other garages we were honest in the book time advised to carry out this work. We are aware another garage quoted double this time and it still did not allow for the engine to be removed.
The vehicle arrived on the 16th January 2023 ready for the work to commence on the 17th January 2023. The technician stripped the vehicle out to replace the timing chain and it became apparent the guide at the rear of the engine had broken up. The broken parts were nowhere to be seen.
At this point we advised the customer of our findings and advised the timing chain kit could not be fitted due to the broken guide. The engine had to be removed to locate the broken parts and fit the rear guide. A new estimate was given to the customer.
I spoke to the customer who advised me they could not afford the work to be done and wished to remove the vehicle from us. We explained the vehicle was still in a stripped state and would need putting back together.
Based on the conversations I had with the customer and yourself; we believed it was agreeable to offer the following.
1. At our own cost to put the vehicle back together using a new timing chain only, all the other components (tensioners etc will be your original parts). The cost of the chain and oil will be provided by us at a zero cost to yourself. A disclaimer will have to be signed by you that we take no responsibility for any further damage if you run the vehicle. The rear guide is broken, and it is not known where the pieces of that guide are so we will not be able to run the vehicle and we do not advise you to do so either.
OR
2. We will recover the vehicle in its stripped state to a garage in Colchester of your choice free of charge.
In both instances the invoice for the work carried out to date will be credited ‘without prejudice’. Both options ensure you can then proceed with the repair of your vehicle having not incurred any costs. We will not pay for any hire vehicles, or any other costs incurred by yourself because of the delay to the original timing chain replacement your vehicle was estimated and booked in for with us.

At no point did we hear from any official body that a complaint had been made. At no point did we mislead the customer or do any work we had not estimated for. We broke no code of conduct as set out by the AA, RAC or Bosch.
We have not heard from Trading Standards or any other official body regarding a complaint because All Trans Autos Ltd have done nothing wrong and we have been more than fair with the customer.
The reason we have said the vehicle cannot be run is to protect against any damage if the broken guide forced the new chain to break. The vehicle is in no different condition now as to when it came in to us, apart from a new timing chain. We have caused no damage to the vehicle as you falsely claim.
Therefore, the customer is in no worse position than they were in January 2023 as we have made no charge.
The timescale of 8 months is due to us waiting for the customers decision and waiting for the Colchester postcode where they wished it to be recovered to.
Legal advice has been taken and it is agreed the review is liable for defamation against All Trans Autos Ltd.

They are so unprofessional and they can't even do the job properly.
I cannot emphasis enough to you good folk do not use these if you do you will regret it .
They are rubbish .
They are so bad that I had to take my vehicle from them to someone else who fixed it at a fraction of the cost straight away .
They diagnose everything wrong .

The worst service I have every come…
The worst service I have ever come across in all my years owning a car. 8 weeks of constantly chasing for an update with very little reply, The car seemed to just sit there for the first five weeks until I started calling every day. To top things off more money was adding to the invoice from the original quote in the last couple of days. The whole experience has been stressful and very disappointing. Would never use or recommend to anyone. We have had it back five minutes and it broken down already

You know very well. You spoke to my son about the review. Trying to get an honest review taken off. But still failed to keep work’s appointments and finish the work’s satisfactory.

Recently had MOT
Recently had MOT, service and tyres replaced. All sorted on time with no issues, easy communication and no worries. I’ve been using AllTrans for years and will keep doing so.

Happy with recommendation
Went on recommendation, to get a diagnostic test done on a clunking noise while driving. Problem found to be suspension joint broken and part had to be ordered. Re booked in a few days later and fixed. I was offered to wait while fixed but happy to leave car. The staff are friendly, prices reasonable compared to other garages. The only downside is there isn’t space for parking, but having told the receptionist I was parked in the road someone came and moved it. Would definitely use this garage again.

We are so glad that we found All Trans Autos. We had a Bosch Service Centre in Andover where we lived before and always used them. Having moved to Colchester 3 years ago, we looked for a Bosch Service Centre and All Trans Autos provides a great service and their staff are very knowledgeable. Where we have had issues they have been handled professionally and economically. We have a great level of trust in the team at All Trans and will continue to use them for the foreseeable for all our 4 vehicles!!

Honest Feedback
I have been going to Alltransautos for many years and always received great service and their prices are very reasonable. I would have rated the company 5/5 if it wasn't for the limited parking on site, I had to park in the road. More customer parking on site would be an improvement as there are to many vehicles that are squashed in to a small area.

Well where should I start!
Colchester Garage the worst!!!!
Unprofessional and unreliable service. Do not use them….they are very bad and slow, the work with more apprentice people than professionals which I don’t mind but they can’t answer any question about your car as a professional mechanic.
I brought my car for an MOT and what do you think, they took 3 weeks to fix the issue.... they are careless, a joke.
If I didn't ring them every day to see if the car was ready, they never call back even I was told they will.

I am disappointed to find out you have left a 1-star review on trust pilot. I do feel this is unjustified and I have listed below the events and how they occurred. These events have been drawn from the notes placed on the electronic job sheet and the log of telephone calls.
Had your review been for poor workmanship, carrying out work without authorisation or producing an invoice for an amount you had not authorised, then it would be justified. However, waiting for parts, parts arriving damaged etc is out of our hands. Whilst the communication might not have been daily or as often as you may have liked the communication made to you was when there was something to report.
Saturday 7th January
Vehicle arrived and mot carried out – Mot failed Tyres and Headlamp washers.
Customer made aware of failure and Diagnostic check into the headlamps authorised.
Monday 9th January
Price of tyres and results of headlamp diagnostic given to customer. Customer was advised I needed to speak to Richard to find out what parts were required, and he does not work Mondays
Tuesday 10th January
Richard looked under vehicle and advised the bumper would need to be removed to check which parts were missing etc.
Wednesday 11th January
Customer was advised bumper needed to be removed to see what parts are missing.
Thursday 12th January
Tyres fitted and bumper removed.
Prices requested from Mercedes.
Friday 13th January
Prices received; prices emailed to customer
Work authorised by customer. Vehicle booked in on 17th January for the headlamp washers to be painted.
Vehicle booked in on 18th January for the parts to be fitted.( first available slot with the correct technician best suited to this job)
Tuesday 17th January
Headlamp washer covers painted.
Wednesday 18th January
Fitting of Headlamp system started, one headlamp jet damaged. Mercedes contacted new part ordered. Grommet missing from parts, despite being advised it came with the other part.
Customer contacted to advise of the issue.
Friday 20th January
Part arrived from Mercedes and fitted -Washers not working correctly and required investigating
Customer called at 6.40pm to advise of issue with Washers
Saturday 21st January
Richard filed a report to technical -Customer was made aware of this and customer was made aware Richard does not work Mondays
Tuesday 24th January
Richard chased Technical.
Wednesday 25th January
Wiring diagrams came through from technical –
Richard stayed after hours to work though system.
Issue traced to multiplug not working.
Thursday 26th January
Customer updated; part ordered.
Part fitted and retested 1 day earlier than expected.
No charge was made for the extra investigations involved and I do not know how we could have repaired the vehicle any earlier.

Local business who we have used for a few years. They are well organised and the work is done to a good standard by knowledgeable mechanics. The only slight negative on a few occasions is communication over what work will be done and could have avoided re-booking the car back in again which is frustrating.

Highly recommend All Trans…
I have only just recently visited All Trans to hire a van from them, which was an easy and reasonably priced transaction in itself.
So I then booked my ‘’elderly’ Focus in for a tyre fitting and some other minor niggles and have been impressed with the quick and exceptional service provided.
The very friendly knowledgeable staff were happy to take the time to discuss the repair work required and afterwards what had been done to rectify the problems. I felt nothing was too much trouble, despite them obviously being very busy especially in the run-up to Christmas
Would highly recommend and will definitely be using this company again

Honest and reliable. Totally recommend.
Lovely staff, honest and reliable garage.
Rac recovered me to all trans and they spoke very highly of all trans so I felt at ease straight away.
All trans kept in contact every step of the way with my car which wasn’t an easy fix.
They Helped me continuously with courtesy cars at short notice and did everything they could to make my experience as easy as possible.
A very anxious time for me was made easier with such lovely staff
I can’t recommend enough.

Reliable and honest garage
All Trans have always been very professional, super helpful, good value for money and reliable. I have taken my ancient vehicle to them a number of times for various replacement parts and regular servicing and MOT and they have consistently been excellent, while my vehicle is my main car it continues to keep on running and be reliable too.
