LO PEOR! NO RENTEN ACA, Me cobrarón de más, me habían enciado una tarifa de $132,80, pero al llegar por el vehiculo me dijeron que era de $202.00.
Aparte NUNCA RESPONDEN en servicio al cliente, solo te deja en la pagina seleccionar entrega y devolución a las 12, asi que si llegas despues te cobran extra, aunque hayas puesto otra horas pero la pagina altera ese dato.
Nadie nos recibio el vehiculo, estuvimos con otras personas a punto de perder el vuelo, esperando 2 horas que alguien llegará a la oficina y nadie llego y no nos atendian y nunca lo hicieron en servicio al cliente..
PORFAVOR NO RENTEN ACA! Y APARTE NUNCA RESPONDEN Y DAN SEGUIMIENTO.

This is a SCAM company. Booked through Priceline for 1 week rental car. Received instructions to call a number provided after baggage claim for shuttle transportation. Number provided only services Orlando and Tampa not Fort Lauderdale where I booked the car. Had to Uber to their office which was a nightmare. No live assistance, pick up is by booth kiosk. After getting the run around for over an hour, they tried to get me to pay an additional $2800 booking fee to get the car top of what I paid through Priceline. $2500 deposit refundable after 30 days, and requiring I buy their $300 insurance. Even though I am a US service member, and have full coverage with USAA including rental car insurance on my policy. Needless to say I canceled and will be filing both an IG complaint with the military pushing for this company to be black listed for military personnel, and a complaint with the Florida Attorneys General, consumer protection office. This company is a complete scam to bait you in with low rental rates and get you to buy their insurance.

This company operates like a complete scam. Do not book with them under any circumstances. They will pressure you into purchasing their insurance even if you already carry full coverage. They also force you to take their EZ Pass toll program whether you need it or not. On top of that, they place an outrageous security deposit—around $2,500—on your credit card, something I have never experienced with any other rental company.
The staff are extremely rude, unprofessional, and show zero respect toward customers. Their attitudes are unacceptable, and the entire experience feels predatory and dishonest.
Avoid this company at all costs. Do not reserve a car with them.
Worse place to rent a car
Worse place to rent a car. They are scammers. The tires on the vehicle we rented were not shit. popped right away and they said that our basic insurance didn’t cover that only if the vehicle was stolen, how does that make sense? They never even explained to me what the full insurance covered. They are charging extra for the two tires that popped and another car. Please read their reviews before renting from here.

Booked to pickup a rental car at Houston Texas at hotel where the American Car rental is using for car pickup.
During the pickup process, I was told I have to pay additional $20/ day for EZ pass, means my two weeks in Houston will be additional $200:00
I taught they were joking as that looks strange to me, and nothing like that when was booking, I told them I had my own transponder if needed, also I do not need to pass through any toogate all through my stay in Houston and do not plan such money in addition money to my trip, but they refused
Once I do not have such money in addition to pay, their only option was to return me back to IAH and propped me frustrated, It was a disappointed day I have ever experienced in my life.
Their system looks SCARM and DUBIOUS compared with other CAR RENTAL in US and government needs to stop them from such practice. ( with my bad experience of that day I rated American Car Rental as the WORST IN US). and business

Everything was paid months in advance. 8 people on the ride to the car rental and same 8 people had to return to airport to look for another rental company. 4 different families The shuttle driver wasn’t surprised at all. Wish I had done my research in this company before hand. SCAM SCAM SCAM.

When we got to the office they scrutinised my insurance word for word and finally accepted it. Then come the astronomical made up charges, which brought the bill to anther £340! Charging for battery disposal, tyre disposal. Extorting money for the tolls! An absolute gang of parasites. How they have not been removed from search engines is beyond belief! PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR TOU CAR AND DONT BELIEVE THE 5 STAR made up reviews!

DO NOT DO IT!!!! PAY MORE upfront at a name brand trust me. They tell me I cannot use my own surpass I must pay 15.00 a day to use there’s or get a 30 dollar penalty if I go on a toll road! Then they tell me Priceline insurance is not okay when I use that all the time with my rentals so I say I will use my own insurance. They tell me my insurance is not good enough and I must pay 135 for two days for there insurance. Total rip off that is why the car is so cheap. I cancelled with them booked with Budget who I always go through and should have stuck with and having there driver take me back to the airport to get my budget car. Lesson learned don’t be cheap. I never am and took a risk and learned. Set me back two hours but I refused to pay them what they were asking. Kid was rude as well

I decided not taking the car. Really bad experience 😕 12/10/25. I am waiting for reasonable response, I've received the same speech again, said the case is investigating. That terrible!!!!

This was the worst experience I've had with a booking, not only for just a rental car, but with any booking in general. I secured the reservation for a 7 seater Outlander through economy booking.com. My fee was 541.67 CAD. It stated that included fees, taxes, extended cancellation and roadside assistance. In bold writing, it stated "0.00 payable at pickup".
Now I knew that I was going to have to pay a fee to add my husband as a driver, 10.00 a day which is fine. I was then basically forced to purchase the SunPass deal, which was incredibly high in comparison to any other car companies offers for this. Having to pay an additional $14.99 USD per day PLUS all tolls that we go through is ridiculous. The other option of 19.99 for unlimited was not a deal for us based on the amount of tolls we'd go through and then choosing to forego the 'deals' for 30.00 a toll charge from you was basically tying our hands behind our back to purchase this. That isn't even the worst of it. The staff member then hands me the form to sign showing the charge of over 650.00 USD....When asked where the extra 300.00 charge came from she couldn't not explain stating "taxes and fees". She told me there was more fees for having a bigger car. IF there are more fees for having a bigger car, then why was it not built into the price. Instead we were completely STUNNED to think we were getting a vehicle for 546.00CAD and then be charged over 1400.00 in total. It was the absolute worst experience and way to start our trip. Now, to highlight the unprofessional the staffing was, or should I say, lack of. Upon entering the, what could not be described more than a 'warehouse' of an office, there was no one to speak with. Finally I had to call the number and reached the staff member who stated she was sitting out in her car and would be back in a few minutes. She was unable to describe any of the fees she was charging and simply kept saying "taxes and fees".
Now I know that this is not a 'one off' deal and I just was hit with additional charges. There was another customer who was charged an additional 900.00 USD on top of what he already paid for his reservation. He was so upset and confused for the charges, and all she could say to him was "taxes and fees".
There is even a letter posted on the checkout desk that states there is a 60.00 cancellation fee for those wanting to cancel AT the desk. Now, tell me how many people go to a car rental company, to the actual check out desk with a reservation already made and want to cancel.... the ONLY reason, would be that they are getting completely gouged by the prices added on to their fees. Your company knows that there is hardly any option for us customers when we have already paid out of pocket for the rental, arrive to another country, and then get right to the rental desk and are forced to pay an astronomical price that we were never expecting to be charged. Do we cancel and lose our money we already paid and just hope we can get another rental car somewhere else?? Most people, like myself, can't afford to lose out on the 550.00 already paid. Would NEVER EVER Recommend

SCAM. Booked a car for $84 on Priceline.com for a week. Seemed like a great deal. Priceline indicated that all fees were included in the price. Arrived to pick up car, and after the required insurance, service fees, required daily toll transmitter, and other random fees, they had jacked the car price up to above $800. This was in spite of already having insurance through credit card, and Geico. They expected a $65 cancellation fee on top of the $84 booked through priceline.com, since I wouldn't pay the wildly inflated amount. I would expect some extra fees, but it was clear that this was their scam. 10x the posted price. In the middle of all of this, an employee quit due to the company's clear scam. AVOID.

Horrible experience, please do not rent a car from this cowboys, insurance scam, after 1 month they didn’t give my deposit back , I bought full insurance online for two weeks but not valid according to them , they forced me to buy insurance from them for £450 for two weeks , after give back the car they had no transportation available to take us to airport, we nearly loose our flight , they don’t want to rent a car to you , they want to robbed you as much as they can 😡😡

WOW! The 5 star reviews must be their staff or the people that took a gamble and won! Car broke down, I was on hold for >2hrs with NO answer, had to have the car towed because it was on a military base, and they won't replace it with another or refund the money. Complete trash. Apparently the tow companies even know about how awful they are! And their manager at Pensacola Airport is as clueless and useless as they come. Renter beware!

Was quick to help at the beginning of hire and couldn't do enough for you so was very happy. To then be ignored for the last week about getting my deposit back of $250 that was taken at the beginning of hire which I was told by Robin at Tampa would be returned into my account once the car has been returned.
It's been a week now and I've been ignored since returning the vehicle. I have emailed and called and had no response.
I'm am shocked at their customer after care quick to take your money but not repay what is mine and owed and not theirs to keep. I will be advising to anyone and everyone to not fall for their lies.
Taking from families shocking.
Also they ask for a review before you actually take the vehicle. I refused until I returned glad I did refuse.

American Car Rental is a scam. Stay away. They fleece unsuspecting tourists by charging a little online and then when you arrive asking for a 300 percent up charge for liability insurance. It’s criminal. I wish I could do more to expose them

The whole experience was extremely poor. From the trickery on the original price when I booked for $10 a day + price of insurance to $35 a day without insurance. (cheaper to rent at airport with a known rental company. The price tripled from the original booking and didn't include insurance. When I arrived at the airport I couldn't find someone to guide me to this company so i had to ask people around on where I should go. I waited 25 to 30minutes for a bus to pick me up and take me for a 15m drive where i would get the car i rented. This is again deceiving since this company does not operate at the actual airport. Their answer when questioned was this is considered "federal area of the airport". When I went to pick up the car, the rental company told me that i hadn't book with insurance and advised me to take it so I did. At the airport for the same amount of days with the best insurance and better car I would get $138 and in this company I ended up paying $160 with the middle insurance (against others, collision, theft etc). At the end of the rental, when I return the car one of the tire covers was missing (since it was tied up with two bracelets and easy to break loose specially with the road conditions in mexico) and they charged me $40. (basically a day's rental, when i had purchased insurance). Worst experience possible and I will make sure to share this experience in every platform this rental company is on. - This was a reservation for Cancun airport
