James has vanished

James fixed my dishwasher in June, ordering a new part and fitting it. It has since broken again several times. I have managed to fix it myself, but on third occasion I decided to contact him. The phone number, email and website no longer work. So much for his guarantee.

Took payment never to be heard from again

All was going well, very quick to respond and arrived on time to look at faulty grill. However having paid for a replacement part, we have heard nothing more. Emails come back undelivered and the web page appears to have been taken down. Can only assume no longer in business.

Bad service

Booked an appointment for someone to come and look at our dishwasher. Had an email to say wait in between 7-12 but they will call before they come. Just spoke to the person on the phone who said he came to the house but the ring doorbell didn’t work but didn’t think to call my mobile which has been next to me all morning waiting. Also our two cars parked out the front didn’t seem to give it away that we were home. We have kept the children in on half term waiting for this. Bad service.

The Engineer just repaired my…

The Engineer just repaired my Microwave, he diagnosed the problem, ordered and installed the damaged part. He Explained everything that was being done. Microwave is up and running 👏

Do not touch with a barge pole

Do not touch with a barge pole. They quoted me £195 for a part that is £44 from Hotpoint direct. There’s making a margin on parts and then there’s blatantly ripping people off.
Spoke to another local company who were horrified at the parts price & quoted me £62 for the same part.
AJ also have one of the highest call out charges in the area. It might be convenient to book online but with their prices you’re better off getting a new appliance - which they don’t fit.
Update: ordered the part direct from Hotpoint (£44), bath domestic appliances fitted it (£84). Real cost to repair - £129. Not £291 as originally quoted by Anderson James! Scam artists

Do NOT use this company. I called them out (£110) and James arrived. After two minutes he told me a heat sensor in my oven needed replacing. I paid for a new one. He returned around a week later to fit it. Having done so he told me he had tested it and all was fine. It wasn’t. The fault was still there. He returned to tell me that the ‘board’ needed replacing at a cost of over £300. I stupidly took him at his word and paid him. Later I checked the price of a brand new like for like oven. I could buy a brand new one. The cost to do so was over £200 LESS than I had already paid him. When he returned with the ‘board’ I raised this with him in no uncertain terms. He immediately offered me a total refund on the parts. I have (to date) received most of this sum. However, I will still be £110 out of pocket for the call out.
For the avoidance of any doubt, I am 70 years old and have NEVER left negative feedback in my life which will hopefully tell you all you need to know. If any of this summary is questioned by the Company I would be delighted to swear on oath that every word is true.

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the service provided.

The first time we attended we found your heat sensor had failed, this was replaced and tested working.
You called to state that you were still having issues so we promptly came back free of charge to have a further look for you, as per our 6 month guarantee.

Upon further investigation we found that your main control board was also faulty and you chose to proceed.

This was ordered and rebooked once it had arrived.

We didn’t have a chance to fit the board and repair the oven as you decided to cancel all repairs as you just wanted to buy a new oven.

Due to asking to cancel all repairs we refunded you minus our one off call out fee as we still attended to your appliance.

Top notch

Booked online on a Sunday afternoon and the engineer turned up on the Monday morning. The belt needed ordering, was ordered there and then and fixed on the Thursday as they said they would.
I definitely recommend this company.

Excellent Job

Booked a slot to have my oven element checked/replaced. Engineer arrived promptly, replaced the element and was finished in under 30 minutes. Very professional and pleasant. Thank you Anderson James.

Other companies are available!

Phoned to enquire about appliance repair. After describing fault engineer said he would call back. He never did. Their website reviews also list similar experiences from other users.

This means that sometimes we need to call our customers back, and we try to do this as soon as possible. Excellent speedy service

I’ve used Anderson James twice - as other reviews say they arrive when they say they will , diagnose the problem and leave - either having fixed it or ordered a spare part . If the latter they keep you informed as to when it will arrive . I can’t recommend them highly enough - I booked the whole appointment on line and they called when they were on the way - fixed the problem very quickly with no extra charge than the call out fee - brilliant - thank you

Excellent Service would definitely recommend!

My dishwasher broke down on a Sunday!! I was able to make an online booking with Anderson James straight away for the followingTuesday. I filled out the form with as much info about my appliance and the fault. Anderson James provided clear communication via email and text to confirm booking, call out pricing and a time frame to expect my visit. As it turned out, the engineer was able to attend earlier than expected. The diagnosis of the problem and subsequent replacement part fitting were carried out in a very timely manner by a polite and efficient engineer. I would happily recommend Anderson James!

Perfect timing and service.

I have used Anderson James twice now. They originally came out to repair my washing machine which wasn’t draining. Called when they were on their way and arrived within the time slot I had booked for.
Whilst James was here for the washing machine he noticed that my kitchen tap was dripping and offered to take a look as well. After trying a set of new cartridges which didn’t fix the issue he established I needed a new tap. Went through options with me and I chose what I wanted. Booked another appointment and arrived 2 days later with the new tap and fitted it.

I wouldn’t hesitate to call Anderson James again for any of my appliances or my plumbing.

Anderson James

When you telephone Anderson James, you speak to a real person promptly. That person is often an engineer who actually does jobs and so understands immediately what you are asking for.
The website is equally informative and easy to use.
The engineers actually turn up when they say they are going to; and contact you in advance to make sure it’s convenient for them to attend.
In my experience, the engineer was courteous, knowledgeable and extremely competent. He came for an inspection visit for my dual fuel cooker, diagnosed all the problems and ordered all the appropriate parts. He came for a second visit to service the appliance and then made clear that all the work was covered by a six month guarantee with free remedial call-back already covered.
I would not say the service was cheap, nor would I say given the high quality of the service that it was overpriced.

It is rare, sadly, these days to get what you pay for. I certainly feel I have got that from Anderson James.

Dishwasher wasn’t draining

Dishwasher wasn’t draining. All my efforts to rectify were in vain! Annoyingly Anderson James sorted in short order. The engineer instantly knew what the issue was and resolved very quickly. Could not recommend enough. Engineer phoned ahead of time and was early! Really nice guy would defiantly use them again!
