This is a late review, I purchased from Animation Legends back in 2021 when I saw that they had a deal on Sonic animation cels. I often wondered whether I should leave one. But after a year of owning these cels and remembering this whole thing, I decided to share my thoughts

At first I was sceptical, we have all seen the simpsons episode where bart buys an itchy and scratchy animation cel, only to receive a floating arm in the mail as opposed to a full itchy or scratchy cartoon.

With this, I emailed the company beforehand asking whether this would be a possibility. To my surprise, they came back quickly, showed me a sample of the cels I could receive and even said I could have the ones in the image, if I placed an order. The cels were great, full characters with a good mixture of the big and small ones for good measure, not stellar stuff that anyone would remember, but decent enough to frame and call your own. So with this I accepted.

When receiving the cels there was a big flaw. I received the ones I saw in the email and some other decent ones, so was happy with those. However, the white paper that was under the ones in the image I saw with production sketches of key frames were missing. These pieces of paper contained sketches which showed either the same animation frame or the next frame in sequence, so these had unique artwork relevant to the art that was on the cel. They had clearly been removed, in some cases with little care, leaving bits of paper and damage to the fragile paint of the cel.

When I messaged back to ask why, I was told that people were complaining that they came stuck to paper and were being removed to combat these complaints.

The problem is this. The company claims to care about animation history yet has willfully destroyed a good part of it. The cels are the main feature, however these production sketches are also one of a kind and a big part of the appeal of buying these products.

Now these cels feel incomplete. I was never given the choice as to whether I wanted to keep the paper with sketches or not and what is worse is that I have since seen similar sketches being sold separately on their website, leading me to believe that they are profiting twice of artwork which I really should have in my possession right now. Art of my buying decision was based on some youtube reviews which had these intact. But, it seems that this is only the case for youtubers.

Either they were sold for extra profit or they have been thrown in the rubbish. Whichever way you look at it, it's a waste and not a business practise I can get behind.

I bought a 15 pack of Ewoks and loved what I got. I was nervous because I haven't tried mystery packs of any kind before and was afraid I would just get limbs or something. I ended up getting great cels of almost the entire main cast of characters. I'm definitely addicted to collecting cels now and know what I'm getting as gifts for birthdays this year.

No problem to say that he service I received was very good. The seller was helpful and professional and the shipping has lived up, too: the DHL courier delivered the package in 5 days only (from USA to Italy, during Easter weekend). Unfortunately, when you buy a mystery pack, a good service is not enough to be satisfied: buying a mystery pack is like betting and I knew perfectly that it could end well or not. I chose a 15 cels pack ("All Dogs go to Heaven)", hoping for a better chance to find something good: unfortunately, I wasn't lucky enough and didn't find anything really interesting, considering that the original price (very good) has more than doubled cause international shipping and, of course, customs duties. At least, I bought 15 cels for about $10 each one: probably that's their value but, honestly, nobody sane would buy deliberately so many cels of this type.

So, in summary: this store is very good, both for professionalism and for service. But always remeber what you're buying, because you could receve notihng really good even choosing the biggest pack, as happened to me.

These cels are an excellent value. While not every one you receive will be a winner you will definitely find a few begging for frames. The cost is currently very low for the quality you receive and shipping is fast and reasonable. My only complaint is only getting 1 certificate of authenticity per 5 pack. It would make giving a few away as gifts that much nicer if I could include a certificate. Overall highest ratings 👍

Excellent service and quick shipping with tracking and insurance. I've been VERY happy with my purchases.
I've purchased multiple sketch packs and animation cels and, although every sketch or cel isn't a main character in the pose you want, or from the most memorable scenes, they are top quality and a real piece of animation history.

I did have one problem. They sent out an incorrect Certificate of Authenticity. They sent a cert for GI Joe Resolute rather than GI Joe A Real American Hero, a simple mistake, someone grabbed the wrong one. A quick email to their support team and the correct cert was sent out within 48 hours with tracking.
