Ardkeen Quality Food Store is an independent food retailer based on the Dunmore Road in Waterford City on the South East coast of Ireland. We are locally owned and managed. The business was founded by Robert and Pamela Jephson in 1967 as a small grocery store with petrol pumps out the front, believe it or not this was quite a novel format back then! The business has grown in popularity and scale over the years notably a a major redevelopment of Ardkeen Shopping Centre took place in 1998. Ardkeen Quality Food Store has a developed a unique food offering. People want to know about and trust the people who produce their food so we specialise in sourcing the best fresh produce and local foods from artisan food producers that we know and trust. As an independent supermarket we have the flexibility to buy the produce our customers want. Using links developed over the years with really good food producers we now have a range of fine foods that surpasses all competition in terms of food quality and provenance. We also cook and bake an extensive range of products at Ardkeen. Prepared daily in our deli kitchen by our skilled and commited team of chefs, using only the best of ingredients. The food is prepared, cooked and chilled (if necessary) and on sale the same day, so you can have retaurant quality meal at home in minutes. The range is extensive everything from soups & starters to main courses like Elaines wonderful Fishermans Pie to Lisa's sumptuous patisserie treats. Although there have been many changes over the years our philosophy remains the same; to provide great value, better quality food and excellent customer service. We are delighted to be listed in the prestigious McKennas Ireland Guides, Georgina Campbells Ireland Guide and have being awarded many accolades including Retail Excellence Ireland Awards, Best In Fresh Awards across departments and most recent named Best Shop in Ireland by The Irish Times. I recently ordered a custom Christmas hamper online for delivery to Dublin, and my God, they did not disappoint! The entire experience was flawless. The selection of items was exceptional—everything was of the highest quality, with an impressive offering of Irish food that you don’t see every day and at exceptional value.
The hamper arrived beautifully presented in a sturdy delivery box, and it was delivered so quickly, which was a huge bonus during the busy holiday season. The team at Ardkeen were incredibly helpful when I reached out with a few queries, both over the phone and via email—they went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.
If you’re looking for a gift that will truly impress, I can’t recommend Ardkeen Quality Food Stores enough. They really do have something for everyone! A huge thank you to the team for making this such a fantastic experience. I’ll definitely be ordering again.

I was finding it very difficult to get…
I was finding it very difficult to get my order in stores near me so when I ordered from ye it arrived very fast. The item cost just over €2 to purchase but €8 to post which I thought was a bit high as it wasn’t at all heavy. Other than that it was a positive purchase.

Listening Skills: Nul Pointes…
When I attempted to correct the delivery details on my order I was not listened to by the person answering the phone - I stated my name and address to correct the mistake and was assured the amendment would be made and the postage be reduced accordingly
However I was then asked if the goods should be directed to Samantha Prigent at my address!!! CRAZY!!!

Le Skinny Chef Wild Garlic & Chilli Sauce 250ml is a very popular product with our customers. Given it requires temperature-controlled packaging this will automatically add an additional cost to delivery.
Should you wish to use our online store again, we would recommend adding a few more products to get better value on the delivery and packaging costs.

Everything arrived in excellent shape and I was especially impressed by the refrigerator bags, but it felt like I was left in limbo between the order and the delivery for 5 days with very little communication on order status.

Conscious of the volume of emails our customers receive, we send a confirmation email at time of order, followed by a dispatch email on day of dispatch. Our nominated courier will then follow up with an email on day of delivery. The confirmation email outlines our process which can also be viewed on the Shipping/Delivery page however we will review to make this more apparent.
In relation to the 5 day wait; as your order was placed on a Thursday and included chilled products, our next dispatch would be Monday with delivery on Tuesday. I am happy to see that this was the case.
Thank you for your feedback on our temperature-controlled packaging. It is something we have spent time to get right and continue to review.
We hope the explanation and service provided will help to instil a trust in our online store.
