“Change of mind” return when buying online must be better!

I wanted to try out a chair before I buy it, and seeing that there’s Kave show room not far from me, I made my way there. The chair I wanted to try was not in the room, so I did not actually try it before buying, felt since the effort was already made I might as well order. They said they do take back “change of mind” returns, but hitch I thought was fair.
The chair arrived and it was so uncomfortable, I got sore neck after sitting in it for 20 minutes! So it had to go back. That’s when the nightmare started. I expected return experience to be like Temple & Webster, they just send you a label for the package and then the courier to pick it up. I couldn’t be more wrong! These guys were no help at all in finding a courier, which was very difficult, and the price of the courier for me as a random person was so much higher than for a corporate account.
Then the courier had to make like 7 attempts at delivery as they couldn’t catch someone on site.
Anyways, very long tedious story short, if you want to sell stuff online, please adjust your policies accordingly to make the experience bearable.

Poor experience

Ordered 2 sofas - one was faulty. Replacement parts were ordered. It was dropped off and not assembled even though assembly was paid for in addition to the regular delivery fee. Then the parts were in correct. The sofa was unable to be delivered. Nick from customer service was lovely and attentive however these sofas were meant to be picked up 2 weeks ago, the pick up team came and then advised the clients that their truck wasn’t big enough for the 2 sofas. And now they still have the sofas and it hasn’t been resolved yet.

Stylish Pieces & Outstanding Service

I recently purchased two armchairs and a coffee table from Kave, and I couldn’t be happier with the overall experience. They offer many unique pieces, and the Sydney showroom team were incredibly knowledgeable and patient, guiding me through options without any pressure.

They really understood what I was looking for and made the decision process easy. Delivery was well-coordinated, and although there was a small damage, it was resolved promptly, which I really appreciated.

Beware of returns

The furniture we bought is gorgeous. The quality and design is great. It’s the customer service I have a problem with.

When purchasing the furniture there was a problem processing the payment. As it was a Saturday we were told we would have to contact the accounts department on Monday to sort it out. I would have thought that was something they would do if the problem was at their end, which it was. Fortunately, it got sorted before we left the Sydney showroom. The young woman who served us was attentive and helpful. The rest of the staff, not so.

Delivery process was smooth and easy. Exchanging furniture not so easy. We were unsure about the colour of 2 outdoor chairs we bought. I asked if we could exchange or return them if they didn’t suit. I was told this wouldn’t be a problem. What I wasn’t told was how difficult and costly this would be.

As the warehouse is in Victoria I had to arrange to get the chairs there at my own cost. They don’t offer an exchange. You have to return the existing items then buy your new products. Everything must be returned in its original packaging. Due to the size of box I couldn’t send it through Australia Post. I had to arrange a private courier as Kave don’t offer a flat fee return. The cheapest I could find was around $200. The two chairs cost about $400.

By the time I returned the chairs and bought 2 new ones I was about $200 out of pocket. I then had to pay a courier fee of $25, through their delivery company, to have the new chairs delivered to Sydney.

Like I said the furniture is good quality and well designed. The lack of interest/customer service in assisting with the return was frustrating. I did not expect to return the items for free. Nor did I expect it to be that expensive. Just choose carefully as it’s costly if you change your mind!
