Terrible banking experience - avoid if you value your money
I had an extremely frustrating experience with this bank. A simple international transfer turned into a complete nightmare. The bank rejected the transaction without any clear explanation, and getting information from support was almost impossible.
Customer service was slow, unhelpful, and kept giving generic answers instead of actually investigating the issue. At the same time, my money was stuck somewhere in the system while nobody could explain where it was or how long it would take to resolve the situation.
For a modern bank handling international clients and transfers, this level of transparency and support is completely unacceptable. Waiting weeks for answers about your own money is simply ridiculous.
Overall, the experience feels unreliable and stressful. If you need a bank that handles international payments properly and communicates clearly with customers, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Account blocked without explanation, false claims of attempted contact, zero resolution.
My account was blocked immediately after I changed my address and password through iBank — exactly as support instructed me to do. No clear reason was given beyond vague “security reasons.”
To unblock, the bank required a phone verification call. They claimed to have called me multiple times, but my carrier confirmed zero incoming calls during that period. I waited over 2 hours across multiple chat sessions, received repeated promises of a callback “within 15 minutes” — none of which were kept.
Support agents were evasive, unable to explain why the account was blocked, and offered no alternative verification method. The chat was simply closed with “we’ll contact you.”
To make matters worse, this is not the first time the bank has failed me — previously, funds were withdrawn from my account without 3DS verification, and the bank did nothing to investigate or return the money.
Blocking a customer’s funds over a routine profile update while being unable to perform a basic callback call is unacceptable. I strongly advise against trusting this bank with your money.

As an expat: if fancy is your style and you don't care about reliability, then yeah. If you want to have proper banking: go for TBC.

Been a client for years, and several times been asked to go to the branch to do stuff I'm supposed to do online (closing deposits, updating personal documents…).
They told me their support is limited if I’m not part of their premium service “SOLO”. So I went for it.
They said they can update personal documents online through this service, but not for my nationality.
Not the first time experiencing racism in Georgia.
Not to mention that these bankers take longer to reply than the chat support and use emojis like teenagers.
Used to recommend this bank, but later realized there are way better and more serious options out there.

Best mobile banking i have ever seen. (I have 4 foreign bank apps as well, but all are disaster)
You can do anything from mobile bank without visiting the Branch.

Unfortunately, instant transfers between different banks aren't available in Georgia yet.
But Bank of Georgia is accessible almost everywhere across the country, so I feel like opening an account with BOG was the right decision.

Stupid bank. Talking to you as if they were investigators, when I ask them, under what law am I obliged to share very personal details, they just ignore. Acting like they are beyond laws. Completely Unrecommended!

Они сказали нам посетить отделение банка, мы его посетили, оттуда нас отправили обратно к операторам колл-центра, которые в свою очень снова отправляют нас в отделение банка. Сотрудники банка Грузии плохо воспитаны, постоянно перебивают, не слушают, плохо проф. подготовлены, им похоже вообще плевать на клиентов и даже на свой банк. Какой то цирк и клоуны :) С ними что то решить просто нереально.
They don't know what they are doing.
Opening an account is fairly easy. However, the service personal only tells you part of the deals.
Then, I was suppose to get the card the following day - it was not there. I got a no-name card instead (which they could have given me the day before).
I also was suppose to get the the internet details - but they forgot. When I went back the following day - the system was down.
They were not able to give me the international customer support number - I had to go on the website.
When you need additional information, it is basically not possible.
I was in a chat for 1 hour - with 3 different people because they kicked me out when they did not know the answer. By those 3 people, I got 2-3 different information. The last changed ... so I am not sure, if it is a third variant or not. They cannot give you anything in writing (the chat disappears after they close it).
Calling them is also not possible. It is a mess.
I am only a customer for 2 days and I am already *****. I am worried to use this bank.

1. I had 3ds security enabled but when my funds were stolen, they said it’s not their fault and 3ds security is not a guarantee of protection.
2. Their chat customer service is terrible. Instead of solving the problems, agents rush to end the conversation and you have to start all over again with another agent.
3. Their sms codes do not come in time and thus you cannot do any imprortant procedures.
4. Often their push notifications are also not working, disabling you from making any transactions online.

Georgian banking culture
For those unfamiliar with life in the USSR, it is important to note that Georgia, along with the rest of the Caucasus region, was widely regarded as a thoroughly corrupt republic. For instance, it was not uncommon to see individuals driving around with photos of Joseph Stalin, a notorious figure, displayed proudly. This is not indicative of a country in the 21st century—do not be mistaken. The general attitude of the nation also influences its banking culture.
Treat you like a trash
Filled long KYC list. Had all needed papers to open the account, private and business. Paid 50 GEL just to submit it. 2 hours later got email saying "we would not open account for you, and will not disclose reasons". 50 GEL not refundable!
After that I've opened accounts in 3 other Georgian banks with no issues.
Don't waist your time in Bank of Georgia. It do not want your money.
Account was blocked, after that bank changed requiments.
My account GE22...0950 was blocked with amount on it, due to outdated passport. Before I got SMS that I can provide notarized copy of new passport by sending to the bank address. But I was informed by support, that this procedure was changed, and it is not possible to send any more. And I haven't provide any agreement on this, so seems decision was made by one side unilaterally.
P.S. BoG is one of the largest bank of a country. With such attitude towards clients, investments and high development in Georgia should not be expected for my opinion.

Very handy app and friendly service. The only negative is the technical support in the application. The technical support operator is replaced after 5 minutes and you have to re-explain your problem.
