The Photography Diploma doesn't work as an online course at all. I thought there would be loads of explainer videos and actual online classes but you're pretty much just given the reading material and left to your own devices. Then you're expected to hand in a practical project at the end of each module which I felt totally unequipped to deal with. I just felt completely unsupported. I'm a very disciplined, dedicated student but I couldn't get past the first module.
Total waste of money (they massively overcharge for what the online course actually is) and I deeply regret signing up.
Several months into starting the course I received an email saying I could get the online tutor support I so desperately needed... if I was willing to stump up another £1220 (or £1525), doubling what I'd already paid. What a scam.

Great course, very interesting

I’ve had a really positive experience with this school so far. The course material is well-structured and easy to follow, even for someone balancing studies with other commitments.

What I appreciate the most is the flexibility in learning, which allows me to study at my own pace while still staying consistent. The assignments are practical and help reinforce the theory in a meaningful way.

Overall, I feel that I’m genuinely gaining useful knowledge and skills. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone looking for a flexible and well-organized learning experience.

The best point is the customer service support. Always available to understand my needs, supporting even if the mistake is mine.

I didn my practicals had. Sweep time learning I like that the video were precise and very robust at the same time no fluff

I completed my course in May 2025, but after several emails and a conversation with admin, I have not yet received my actual HNC certificate. They keep promising it, but it never appears. Also, the promised graduation ceremony has never happened. The course is very good to improve your understanding of photography from a historical and career perspective.

I’ve not noticed anything bad, just gives me the confidence that I’m in the right academy. If only they can provide academy computers for class work 🖥️ it could have been better, especially that the money we are paying is too much.

I enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma Course in July 2022 and completed the course in February 2024. One of the main reasons for taking this course was the guarantee of work placements at the end of the course. Annoyingly not one assignment (paid or unpaid) has ever been offered to me. Furthermore, I was also under the impression there would be a Graduation Ceremony. This has been cancelled two years running with no date in the pipeline.

I found the content of the course rather repetitive, with too much research in areas that are not really relevant today but more historical. Unless a specific qualification is needed to start or further a career in photography then given my time again I would certainly not have purchased this course and just used alternative platforms, many of which are free to access, where I could of learned the skills needed.

A very disappointed student.

I was very happy to be studying in England's capital, London. Studying a subject that I truly love, photography.
I was willing to make the bus, train and underground journey on my 60+ London Pass, but thankfully a very kind friend helped me out with the car journey there and back, there and back.
I was happy that the class number (around 12) was very manageable.
A mixed group of individuals in age, ethnicity and gender everyone was helpful and very respectful to and of each other.
The teacher was polite, respectful and helpful.
The photography curriculum made much more sense when I eventually entered the BAPH course website to commence my HNC/HND assignments.
Also was very helpful the HANDBOOK which was recently sent to me via email.
I love the way the assignments are set out - starting at the basics.
Perhaps there is a BAPH video about how to find a free PDF site, e.g. PDF24Tools and then how to convert a WORD document into a PDF file. Invaluable for people like me who is currently NOT very tekky.
I'm still finding my way around the COMMUNITY platform.
I would highly recommend BAPH to anyone wishing to attend a photography outlet ...with strong emphasis on looking at the BAPH course website to help consolidate the basic knowledge with the practical classes.
My only wish is that the classes were more fortnightly.

I like to study by myself and the material the British Academy of photography offers is great. It’s very easy to understand.

The tutors are great, their explanations so far made me improve my workflow and my creativity research, not to mention my photograph.

Great course content in the HND Photography course. The course is centred around producing images to a brief or making and discussing with a client. Tutors are very helpful and give excellent advice and quickly.

The tutors are expert working photographers. My tutor is superb very helpful and encouraging. The online learning materials are good; the reading lists are easy to get a hold of and the online library superb. What I will say is you really need to put in the work on this course.

Whenever I ask something, a little later it is done. No questions asked. This is a great way to study Photography!

I started my Diploma course a couple of months ago as I wanted to get the experience of feeling confident to take photos. I initially found it hard to get my head around what was expected and how to attack the 1st assignment, as I have had no academic study for a good number of years. Once I understood I have realised what is expected. I have just submitted my 2nd assignment and am really enjoying the modules. I have learnt a lot already and am really looking forward to moving on through the units. The feedback has been very constructive and helpful. The support, from everyone, is great. Thanks to all at BAP.

I have studied under the British Academy of Photography to obtain a professional qualification and further my career. My experience has been very good indeed and the level of support, patience and care I have received, has been of the upmost quality. My tutor, Hugo Felix, has been exceptional and has provided the best detailed professional critique and guidance for me to not only understand the assignments but to improve my knowledge and technique. I would absolutely recommend the British Academy of Photography to anyone who wants to get the best out of learning everything about professional photography and advancing their work in the field. I am excited for what my photography career holds, thanks to Hugo and all at the BAPH.

This is a great course. All the tutors and people involved in this course are really nice and helpful with any questions you have.

Very easy to sign up to their courses. Before sign up I had a question, which was dealt with swiftly.
I'm now part way through the BTEC certificate, and the course is easy to navigate and understand. Content is useful, and feedback from tutors has been constructive.

I completed an HND and have now moved on to a BA. The course structure is very easy to follow, and my tutor (Hugo) has always been incredibly supportive - quick to respond to queries and genuinely committed to finding the best solutions. I feel well supported throughout and can highly recommend this academy.
