Never ever will attend this place again…
Never ever will attend this place again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone I know,
1 Horrible serve, manager was extremely disrespectful, not welcoming, not dressed appropriately and unhygienic.
2 The security guard was very aggressive and rude towards the people I was with, at one point the woman security guard got in the face of one of the guess’s of the party over a minor situation, which was unbelievable.
3 There were no tissue in the toilets and no water running in the woman’s toilets, therefore I had to wash my hand in the men’s toilet.
4 Bartender was racist to many people and changing the price of the drinks and charging, knowing that it was an open bar.
5 Disgusting service and a scam, and making sure that no one I know hires or attend this place again.

I would strongly advise against booking…
I would strongly advise against booking Basement 144 for any event. My experience celebrating my birthday here was completely ruined by the unprofessionalism of the staff and the appalling behavior of the venue’s owner.
At the end of the night, the owner got into a heated verbal altercation with my friend, which nearly turned physical. This is completely unacceptable for any business, let alone a venue that claims to provide a hospitable event space.
To make matters worse, when it was time to cut my birthday cake, I was suddenly told that I wasn’t allowed to do so without a so-called “cake cutting license.” This was never mentioned in their contract, nor in any prior communication. The way they handled this situation was absurd and completely unnecessary, aggravating my guests and taking away from what should have been a joyful moment.
The conduct of the staff and management not only impacted the quality of my celebration but also left a lasting negative impression on my guests. If you’re looking for a venue that values professionalism, clear communication, and basic customer service, Basement 144 is NOT the place. Avoid at all costs.

We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. However, we’d like to clarify a few points regarding your feedback.
Firstly, there is no such thing as a “cake cutting license” at our venue, and we never mentioned or enforced such a policy. In the lead-up to your event, when asked, you stated there was no cake for presentation. Our standard approach in a late-night club environment is to cut and distribute cake at the end of the event. Given the nature of our venue, we do not find it appropriate for guests to be dancing and partying while holding cake, as this can lead to spills and accidents we only allow canapés at the beginning 1.5hrs of the event (unless unforeseen delays) before the event is in full ‘swing’-by 00:00 we have no food out at all,
Secondly, regarding the incident at the end of the night, it’s important to highlight that your friend, who was heavily intoxicated, became aggressive towards our staff, using foul language and even trying to throw punches. This escalation was unfortunate and entirely avoidable as it was all in connection with not being able to cut and eat cake on the spot.
We pride ourselves on providing a welcoming and well-organised event space, and we regret that this misunderstanding led to such a negative experience for you. However, we must also ensure that our policies are respected and that our staff are treated with the same courtesy we extend to our guests.
We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best with your future celebrations.

Would recommend and use this space again.
