Good removal team, but some disappointing issues
The removal itself was completed and the team doing the physical work were helpful and worked hard.
There were, however, a few issues that affected my overall experience. Despite having two Luton vans, there were still belongings that couldn’t be accommodated, meaning I had to transport a substantial amount myself in my VW Tiguan Allspace, with the rear seats folded down and using a roof box.
A few items of furniture also arrived damaged. They weren’t particularly valuable items and the damage, so it isn’t a major financial loss, but it was nevertheless disappointing. The two removal vehicles were also involved in a collision with each other on the M25 during the move, and I believe this may have been when some of the damage occurred.
I also had to change the removal date at short notice because the previous occupant of the property had not moved out as expected. I was subsequently advised that this would result in an additional charge of around £1,200 on top of the approximately £2,400 I had already paid. I was told that this was written in the terms and conditions, at this point the terms and conditions hadn’t been given to us. None of this information was on any of the emails for the booking, the invoice, or even their website. I hadn’t appreciated when booking that changing the date within 14 days could result in such a substantial additional charge. I did not end up paying this additional charge.
The removal team themselves were helpful and the move was ultimately completed, but the capacity issue, damaged furniture and unexpected additional charge were disappointing.
I’d recommend making sure the terms around changing dates, additional charges and the amount of belongings that can be accommodated are fully understood before booking.
