Since Simple transitioned to BBVA everything has gone wrong. Constant lockouts, forcing password changes often. I demanded both my account and my elderly mother's be closed yet they remain open. With Simple it was so easy to use that all of our transactions were done through them. Now BBVA is just milking people for overdraft fees which are impossible to stop unless you can wipe out everyone you dealt with when Simple ran things. BBVA does not make it easy to accomplish anything, which I believe is their intention.
If you want good customer service, go to a different bank. Compass is the worst. I have been waiting for over a month to have my debit card replaced. It was blocked due to an error by Compass. Today they told me that they have no idea when I would get my new card due to a short supply of plastic. They offer a new excuse each week. This was the worst so far.
Absolutely the worst.
RIP Simple bank, which I used for years and liked.
After simple closed, I was switched to the partner bank, BBVA. This is absolutely the worst banking experience I have ever hard — their website doesn't work, trouble connecting from external accounts, fees, fees and fees. I switched away the second I could.
This has been my bank for over ten years. Over the last month or so I’ll pay my bills and instead of paying them they hold my money for seven days or so then charge me NSF fees. This has happened for a couple of months.
They must be holding it to collect interest and in the meantime charging NSF fees like crazy.
This is what got BofA sued for millions.
I’m moving my deposits and changing banks.
Do yourself a huge favor if you are considering BBVA Bank (Now owned by PNC)... just move on.
I am a formal Simple customer who was onboard for their folding Simple customers into BBVA prior to the PNC merge. The experience was the worst banking experience I've had in over well over 25 years. Even worse than the time a local credit union allowed a total stranger to come in and empty and close my account without any ID. Yeah, that really happened... and yet I'd still put BBVA far worse than any experience I've had yet with any bank. Because at least I could talk to someone at the Credit Union and make sense of things.
During the months leading up to the Simple transition they made some grand claims that there would be no interruption of service. Well, I was locked out of my account for nearly 5 days and while they also claimed I would be able to use my debit card, it also did not work. Their customer service department was completely overwhelmed by tons of now disgruntled Simple users so getting phone support was nearly impossible. But the message on the hold line made it seem like they were overwhelmed due to COVID19, so as a Simple customer you felt even less like you mattered at all to them. Even when you waited on hold for hours, you would most likely be disconnected with no reason or customer service reps would act like they couldn't hear you. Whether it was true or not, who knows... bottom line was they were really under prepared and clearly did not care.
I have no hard numbers to back this up, but I had heard there were something like 3 million Simple users. Imagine having a business where you can instantly gain 3 million users and then doing less than the bare minimum to make those customers welcome? Then on top of that, locking many of them out of their accounts altogether and lying about it on social media.
Then after they screwed up royally, they claimed they would be waiving fees as a way to say sorry... Gee, what a kindly gesture that totally makes up for my not being able to even buy a loaf of bread for a week /s. Doesn't matter because it turned out to be another lie as they apply a 3 dollar transfer fee when you are trying to move your money out of their crappy bank to another.
If you want to call in now to their support center, you can get through finally but be prepared to be speaking to someone over a connection that sounds like a cement mixer running in the background. That wouldn't be so bad but then it's clearly an offshore support center so trying to understand a very thick accent through the distortion is just a recipe for frustration.
There's no end to the 4 letter expletives I could lay out for describing this bank's level of service, but keeping it civil and straightforward, they are absolute junk. Avoid at all costs. Until the day I die, I will never recommend or use BBVA / PNC for anything banking related and I would tell anyone to run far, far away. Sticking your money under your mattress would be a better alternative.
This bank is like banking with the mob. There is so much corruption within their infrastructure, it should be illegal for them to be in operation. I remember having so many problems with them removing fees, accidentally placing my money in wrong account, swapping money and not replacing, stealing amounts out of account that could not be traced, but because i kept up with my balance and checkbook, I knew and had to dispute several odd charges, eventually just closing my account.Banks suppose to provide some type of assurance your money is safe, but I see why they are insured by the FDA. They do not and you have to fight to get what is rightfully yours.
Today was the much hyped transition from Simple banking to BBVA USA. Tens of thousands of customers (me included) were locked out and are unable to access our accounts. Customer service phone lines go nowhere, theres an hour wait, but then it just hangs up on you. They'll be open tomorrow (Mothers day) so that I can spend all day on the phone figuring this out instead of celebrating. I miss my old bank.
All the customer service is in Mexico - if you don’t speak Mexican you will never, ever, get any service. If you use your local branch that is a different story - the bankers there can usually help. I just spoke to customer service in the loan department and asked them “can I get my PPP LOAN forgiveness paperwork through the portal you are sending me to?” He said NO. I asked why are you sending me to this portal then? He named a form in the portal you can upload documents to. I asked “How do I get the loan forgiveness information then?” He said its in the portal, but its not “paperwork its electronic, so its not paper”. Are you kidding me? Every single step of dealing with the customer service is like this. Horrible
I have had the BBVA Clear Points credit card for about a year. I have had only good interactions with them. I called customer service once, about a monthly fraudulent charge on my account. I was treated with respect, by a knowledgeable and friendly rep. The fraudulent charges were taken off of my account.
A Bank that blocked my account for no reason, kept me stranded during these pandemic, I had nothing to survive on, they are filled with lies, they are a disgrace to the financial sector. Now that they have been bought over by PNC Bank, I hope they will change. Banking with these Bank is at your own risk. May You suffer as you have made me suffer too.
This is probably the worst company I’ve dealt with, and that’s a statement believe me.
Do not ever do a mortgage with this company. I am a repeat customer and called my prior loan officer back on June 18. I made 3 calls to him all to no avail - he never returned my calls (I had the correct VM). After 3 weeks I went to the local BBVA Compass Bank and they referred me to another Loan Officer. She was very good and had excellent follow-up; however, her back office Underwriting and Processing was horrendous. I made an application for a BBVA to BBVA Rate and Term refinance in early July and as of November 3, I am still waiting for a Processor to clear the loan conditions and get the file into Final Underwriting. 120 days to close a A paper refinance - and they charge $600 for the appraisal! Run the other way and especially do NOT let them close your purchase loan - you will NOT close on time and may lose your purchase contract. The Loan Officer was great, but unfortunately her back office screwed everything up especially the customer care and prompt lending service. I WOULD NEVER REFER ANYONE TO BBVA FOR ANY TYPE OF LOAN.
