We believe that barefoot shoes are better for everyone – that’s why we want to get kids off on the right foot and start their barefoot journey as soon as possible. We make what’s known as ‘barefoot’ shoes, which provide a more natural fit and a thinner, more flexible sole so that feet can move and develop as they were meant to. Unlike others, our shoes aren’t just a mini-version of an adult range. We’ve designed our shoes especially for kids, thinking about everything from fun colours to making it easier for kids to put their own shoes on. We only sell our shoes online. Without the overheads of a high street shop, we’re able to bring the cost of barefoot shoes down while keeping the quality high, with great customer service, too.

Fantastic shoes. The last pair of shoes my 4 year old had gave him a corn on his toe, but these shoes fit really well - and my son says they are super comfy (he also says they make him run faster!) 🤗
Service and ordering were smooth and easy. Great to have a free foot measure too - super handy for future shoes.
Would highly recommend. Thanks BGreater!
I’ve bought bgreater shoes for my twins since they started reception. They’ve always lasted until outgrown, and one issue I had with a faulty shoe was dealt with flawlessly. Unfortunately, their customer service approach has changed and I would no longer recommend this company. One of the straps on my son’s shoes has come apart, and they are refusing to replace the shoe. It has only been worn for three days a week for about fifteen school weeks, so should last a lot longer than this. They have offered to cover the cost of repair, but it is beyond repair. They have lost a loyal customer with four children who need school shoes. I want to support a small british company, but can no longer do so when the school shoes are so poorly made and the customer service is so shockingly bad.
Serious quality concerns after our son wore a hole right through the shoe on first wear (and only for an hour of PE!). This isn't our first pair of BGreater shoes, our other son has a pair of astro turfs and although they have held up a lot better, black dye has ruined many a pair of socks from when is feet got warm, and a lot of the pattern has come away too. For the price point you'd expect the quality to be a little bit better, but I cannot recommend this companies products at all.
I’m sorry to have to write this review and I’ve taken time to consider my thoughts before doing so. In total my experience of your company has set me back a total of £19.84 😔 The response from customer service has been equally poor to be honest.
My son has spent the summer literally barefoot and your shoes seemed an affordable solution to get him back into footwear.
I initially ordered a size 2 his normal size, these were too big. The foot measure was on back-order, for which I had needed to pay a separate £1.99 postage cost. To save additional expense I purchased a size 1 well used second hand pair.
These were a success so I proceeded to make another order of brand new size 1s as clearly I had the wrong size.
On arrival these were rejected immediately. They were tight, hard and for a sensory sensitive child thrown off. I tried to manipulate the sole, the heel and even froze some water inside to try to stretch it. Still refused.
In bafflement I reached out to customer services. Eventually I got a response which was fairly unhelpful advising that “this may be due to the leather and style of the red shoes, which can make them feel firmer at first. Using insoles or softer socks may help, and with a little gentle wear they should ease up.”
I am not sure if there is an industry wide definition of barefoot shoes but for my mind they shouldn’t need wearing in nor should they require socks. I have a child who is distressed by socks! He manages for school and after that he needs to be free.
I then purchased from a different but more costly brand. On arrival these folded in along the sole, the sides and were so thin! Popped them on and he has worn them happily for over an hour.
In total my experience of BGreater has lost me £19.84 that’s in part thanks to me being able to re-sell the pair I couldn’t return and the foot measure. Postage costs to me of 2 orders plus return costs with an additional fee for each pair returned! Why is the customer paying an admin fee to return shoes?!
Customer service experience was equally poor and dismissive. I was ready and willing to engage in a conversation about maybe a different style that might have helped or size. The size 1 were definitively too tight and the size 2 too big; I’m still not sure if this is due to the second hand pair being well worn or a different type 🤷♀️
Update 14th Nov - for the first time ever I’m experiencing shoes wearing out in the insole and I think quite easily the outer too 😥
Bought two pairs of shoes for school, one for everyday and one for PE. Both brilliant, extremely flexible sole, and comfortable all around. Will be buying again, thank you.
Awful. Avoid.
We followed the sizing instructions and still received shoes that gave my 3 year old daughter blisters. The only shoes that have ever done this to either of my children’s feet, so I’m appalled.
The customer service since has been awful. I’ve been in coms with Bgreater for over a month now and they can’t seem to give me any answers or support. They have been ever so slow at replying, and leave messages unanswered.
These are incredibly overpriced shoes. Don’t follow their size guide, it’s rubbish. And their customer service stinks.
Such awful communication. No sign of a refund after 15 days and several unanswered messages. In the mean time I found an identical shoe on Amazon for £12 cheaper. These guys don’t know what they are doing. The marketing was good, the product might be, I never found out as my delivery was messed up but customer service is absolutely crap. Amateurs. Will not recommend or try again.
My son is on his second year of school shoes from Bgreatershoes - they're fantastic! His feet are too wide for Clarks so it was a relief to find well made and fitting shoes for him from Bgreater. Last year's shoes lasted all year with just a wipe clean and I'm sure this year's will too.
Amazing shoes, the difference in comfort levels between the school shoes and other competitors has far exceeded my expectations. The communication from the company has been amazing. Both orders arrived within the timeframe stated. I will definitely be a returning customer.
Lovely shoes. My new reception starter is super happy with his school shoes and PE shoes.
Thanks
Ordered my son's school shoes from here. So far so good, he loves them and they are quite easy to slip on. They look so smart too. Wish they made adults!! Handy size guide on the shoe box for future ordering.
Excellent quality barefoot shoes. My daughter has loved her bright red pair. Wear very well and we really like that you can buy new insoles so they can be used again for younger siblings. Great range of barefoot friendly school shoes too.
I received my grandson school shoes today and I can't praise the shoes enough they fit perfectly and my autistic grandson has said I like these very much we normally get negative comments this hurts that hurts he has sent a video with them on showed me how they bend very pleased with how happy this has made my boy I just hope you make bigger sizes for nxt year when I will need a size 3 I hope Ur business goes from strength to strength l lock
Shoes haven’t been off my 6 year olds feet all morning - first pair of shoes i feel fit great without squashing her toes AND that she loves the design of.
Excellent customer service, royal mail lost the order and when I emailed to check in, replied same day, got the shoes reposted day after - very efficient, polite and friendly. We’ll be back (no doubt in 2 weeks when her feet grow!).
The shoes are very narrow in my opinion. I used the measuring details on the website and yet they were too tight. The shoes didn’t seem that great quality when they arrived. I expected more for the price.
Having to pay £2 re stock fee plus losing postage costs means I’ve lost £6, I think it’s unfair of a company which is online orders, you should be able to at least return for free. Customer lost here I won’t be returning
Absolutely the best shoes I have even bought for my child.
Great school shoes are so important and yet so challenging to find. This brand is:
flexible, supportive of toe dexterity, spacious (space for insoles if needed), good quality material which allows the foot to breathe. I recommend this as a parent wholeheartedly!
My toddler is on his second pair of the Alden teddy bear trainers after outgrowing the first. He absolutely loves them, and I love that his feet have a chance to grow normally without being squashed into ‘normal’ shoes that are always so narrow. They arrived within days of ordering, no issues. The ones he outgrew are still in great condition considering what he put them through!
I used their measurements to choose the size for my boy's first shoes, but they are too small. Now, I need to pay £2 to return them and another £4 for delivery on the correct size. This means I will lose £10 on delivery and return fees altogether, just to buy one pair of shoes.
A total of £40 for a pair of textile shoes, including delivery, is not worth it. The sole is also very hard for a 'barefoot' shoe; I can hardly bend it at all. I don’t think I will buy from them again.
We have had various shoes from bgreater now and I couldn't recommend them more highly. My son's school shoes were still near perfect when he outgrew even with the generous sizing. The trainers also last well and come in lovely colours, the kids certainly Approve of them. I have even bought myself a pair of their lace up ones and they are so comfortable.
Their customer service is also wonderful, I've always had a timely response to any queries.
We ordered shoes from BGreater because my partner researched comfortable school shoes and liked the look of this independent store.
On the website, there are multiple advertisements about receiving a free shoe measurer with every order. Fine I thought, it didn't influence my decision to order from them but I'll take it. Upon getting to payment, the free gift is out of stock. I do not like this business practice, it stinks of deceitful promotion to get you to the basket part of the transaction.
After my purchase, I then received an email promoting the free foot measurer even though they know it's out of stock, and then a "send us feedback" email which I replied to explaining my concerns about their advertising practices to which they said I could have a free foot measurer when they're back in stock.
Not the point I was making, so they basically ignored my feedback and carried on advertising the free foot measurer even though it's out of stock.
Then, they sent me the wrong order. I received the name and address of the actual person that ordered the trainers that were sent to me in the receipt- thankfully card details were not on there. I then called their customer service line and got a message saying they had PURPOSELY closed it due to the high demand of the return to school season.
I mean, who reduces their customer service offer when they get more customers? I emailed with photo evidence and the reply I got was "please can you send photo evidence", so clearly that wasn't read. In the end, my partner found the phone number of a manager on Facebook and called them. They sent out our actual order straight away and we received them the next day.
It shouldn't be like this. Smaller companies who boast about their independent status should be much more customer focused than the chains.
