Everything works pretty well. It's aftermarket stuff so you have to be realistic with what you're getting. For a 400$ headunit, it does a lot. If you're expecting it to be 150 percent perfect... Well then you're a goofball. Take that 400$ and put it on a down payment for a brand new car of some type. Considering how my car looked ancient and now has carplay, YouTube, etc. on it now, I would say it's well worth it.

Customer service was pretty good for me but I was respectful so I got the same back.

If you're a dbag, they're going to let you know about it as a few of these nutjobs found out. Kind of to be expected when you skip the upsellers and go straight to the factory. Lousy entitled people are pretty much the reason we have to buy everything from a dealer... So I'd rather not burn that bridge.

Software is pretty solid. I will say it does take some tweaking but it's nothing major and you again have to be realistic with the fact it's aftermarket. It looks OEM but if you're wanting that 1000% perfect finish and function you're again delusional.

All in all, would I buy it again? Yea. Product is solid, customer service is solid if you're nice to them and it does what I need.

Solid device for sure. 2019 M2 Comp.

Solid device for sure. Takes awhile to get here because they're overseas, but that's to be expected and pretty obvious. They do send you a pretty lengthy email giving ya a heads up on that however and some other important stuff so that's respectable.

Needed to use the tech support (it's on Whatsapp) and they got back to me within a few hours which is quicker than you can expect unless you're just taking the car to a shop which is totally between you and your wallet.

I think this will be my last BMW (I like my M2 and don't need another car anytime soon) but if I were to get another one, I'd grab another kit from them for sure.

Rudest customer support ever.

Rudest customer support ever.
My order was canceled and I was told to not contact them again, all of that after getting ghosted for over a week and sending multiple emails asking about delivery date and then they send an email with like stupid 9 questions asking me "from where did you hear about us?".
I eventually was refunded $15 less than what I paid.

You argued with a basic email telling you shipping times and asking for your vehicle information so we could send you the correct unit.

That information isn't stupid, but a person ordering an electronic system and then refusing to answer it surely is.

You then went on a forum where others even called out your childish behavior, then came to leave a negative review here because you are not a winner in life.

BMW F20 Top Spec Screen

The F20 Top Spec screen is amazing! Far superior to the cheap aftermarket head units I have seen installed in friends’ cars. Works seamlessly with the iDrive knob and touchscreen is fluid with no lag.

As an amateur, I was worried about installation given that they warn you that the Mid/Top Spec are not simple devices and professional install is recommended. That being said, I emailed BD for the PDF installation instructions and completed it myself within 90 minutes with no problems! Be patient and make sure you have seated connections properly, and haven’t trapped any wires.

My only complaint would be that communication via email was slow. However, I think this is tolerable given that they’re a manufacturing plant on the other side of the world to me.

I can’t comment on WhatsApp responses as I haven’t yet needed tech support from them. Likewise for anything regarding warranty.

Overall I’d highly recommend the product I bought if you can afford to wait a little while.

Warranty paid for itself.

I have purchased two units here. One for 328d F30 (screen) and one for BMW i8 (mmi). Recently after two years, the screen was sun damaged in Arizona heat, the warranty claim was quick and it was replaced. They did not argue with me and after roughly a week and a half I have received a replacement screen.

I almost forgot that I even had a warranty on this thing until I emailed them to ask if I could buy another one. They could have just sold me another but instead decided to warranty it and remind me I had a year left.

This experience alone has paid for itself. It is almost unheard of for a foreign company to actually honour their word.

They are a factory so you do have to communicate effectively and cordially with them, but the positives are the product is clearly superior and the product support ends up being better long term.

Between the MMI and screen kit, I would say that I enjoy the screen kit more. Not due to any faults, it’s just that I have the MID spec screen which allows much more features especially if you are someone like me who is pretty in depth. Unfortunately they do not create a screen for the i8 yet, but I would surely purchase this in the future.

Do not trust this company. They come across as competent in the beginning with their communication, but if something goes wrong with the device, communication either stops entirely or they fail to answer any reasonable questions in a timely manner. They become extremely rude and defensive and attempt to shift blame to the customer. Please read ALL of the reviews and their responses before considering spending any money with this company. My personal experience is that these guys are toxic and untrustworthy. They also lie and fabricate false information with their responses here on trustpilot

Friend, you have been reported by other Chinese and Taiwanese factories for this same abusive behavior. With each of the (3) large factories you communicated with, your interaction was volatile. We have the proof of such. We also have the screenshots of the full entire conversation between you and us which anyone can request.

You did not understand the product let alone your vehicle, began to curse at our staff and then still began to act this way after we issued you a return + refund.

- You claim"communication stops" but we have 3+ pages communicating with you on WhatsApp, including your profanity.

- You claim "we fail to answer" but a label was given to you and you were responded to each time on WhatsApp.


We manufacture this product and produce to thousands of single customers, shops, etc. worldwide and we are very keen on calling out persons like yourselves because you do the entire car community a great disservice.

I hope things get better in your life but to leave a fictious review on purpose and curse at staff reveals your own charachter. There will always be 10-15% persons like you who are doomed to ignorance, for everyone else, the world will continue to spin.

Great product, why gatekeep updates?

I bought an MMI+ box for my BMW. Great bit of kit, fairly seamless and looks great. But why do you ask us to email you just for software updates and the "Online Software Update" requires a pin which you haven't provided in the manuals???? very odd.... This is the only thing letting it down

Friend, you are not a software or hardware engineer. You do not understand the complexity behind software updates. Software updates are not made for fun and they are not cheap. They are made to make the device stable which has already been done. Your device has only been in use for 2 months so far. It is already up to date.

The update pin is protected for this exact reason here. Applying random updates made for other processors will brick the device and burn the PCB board. This is electronics 101. People with your exact mindset have attempted to do this and then damaged the device permanently.

To ask for software updates when this device is only 2 months old with the newest software and then attempt to enter the engineering menu without any knowledge of this area, is exactly why we have to do this.

We tell you to email because 1. there is hundreds of device we make and 2. applying wrong update can brick device.

It is on the website in plain english and common practice.

If you want to be a software engineer, you can spend 4 years learning in University and then come back to us to apply. Your first task will be to write new software update every week or month and if you do not we will say you are "gatekeeper". You will soon quit within the first week because it is not realistic venture.

Your device is up to date and stable. It is CarPlay device not engine computer, mobile phone, etc.

No one will make a software update for fun or routinely when not needed, as it increases unstable performance. Your own manufacturer BMW hasn't released an update for your car in 10+ years.

If you need help on specific setting config, you can of course send us question however. Most of the time people will be confused on certain area with new device and may need this.

Excellent Product and Outstanding Support

The BMW MMI Box works great! Seamless integration and very easy to use. Installation was straightforward, and everything functions as expected. What really stood out was the customer support. Super responsive, helpful, and professional throughout the whole process. Highly recommended!

Kang extremely helpful

Spoke to Kang on the WhatsApp helpline and he was extremely helpful. Addressed my issue as quickly as possible, ran through my options and proceeded with my chosen solution straight away. Aftermarket products always make me nervous so it’s great knowing that the support and warranty is there when things aren’t 100%

Easy to deal with and prompt communication

Great company to deal with, provided you're not a snowflake who is easily offended by blunt answers for asking questions already addressed on their website.

I purchased a 2017+ BMW MMI box and received it (Alberta Canada) within 10 business days. Diagrams and instructions provided are easy to follow but you may want to check out several YouTube DIY videos which vary in quality and detail. Many YouTube content providers edit out the trickiest part of the installation process; cable management and the exact location for the MMI box. This can be frustrating if you have a larger head unit with no space above, below or behind to place the MMI box!

When I first received the MMI box, I contacted tech support via WhatsApp during regular business hours and within minutes, I received a detailed reply along with installation instructions.

Although I've only been using the MMI box for a couple of days, it appears to be of excellent quality and works almost seamlessly with the BMW original EVO I-drive 6 head unit.

In summary, I would not hesitate to buy from Bimmerdirect/Eurodirect. They are a solid company and offer a great product with excellent service!

Warranty

I bought my unit a few years ago (probably around early 2023). It was working perfect but I made the mistake of leaving it parked outside in the sun for an entire year during deployment. When I came back it was destroyed as you can imagine. I sent the old one back in and after about 11 days the new one came in. Really can not complain considering I thought I’d have to buy a new one.

UPDATE. IF YOUR SCREEN STOPS WORKING, YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN.

Was helpful at first-but after waiting almost a month for a replacement screen after the first eurodirect unit died after not even a year...they decided to stop responding. I'm left in the dark about my replacement under warranty, so now I am downgrading my 5-star review to a 1-star. Very poor customer service.

The most confusing part was when I was told that I would receive tracking within 96 hours. 9 long and silent days later...........nothing.
No tracking, no shipping information, not even a email back if I do not initiate it.

:(

The previous buyer of this head unit that I ended buying this from also had some complaints about their customer service. I ended up buying a head unit from a different manufacturer that had tracking and shipping info sent to me in under a DAY, and can finally drive my car normally again. Very confusing as to why they started to help me and decided to stop, especially as I kept it professional and cordial in the emails sent.

Great product but the people who manage customer support absolutely need to be more responsive and helpful to those who purchase them.

#1: You purchased this device second hand used from another person. You then installed it yourself.

#2: We gave you warranty claim out of good grace even though warrnaty transfer is technically not allowed, just like anywhere else in your country.

#3: We are global manufacturer overseas, not reseller.

#4: We have told you this multiple times. The wait time is not routine because we are not reseller like your country has. We are manufacturer. The original buyer also knew this. He also had to wait logistics processing time. We must fully recieve the device during any warranty claim. A response time to 24-72 hours is average and routine for any factory.

#5: In the future we will no longer allow warranty transfer due to persons like you ruining it for everyone else. Although we made exception in your case, that is no longer going to case anymore.

2011 BMW e91 mmi

Everything connected as manual says. Sometimes just doesn't connect with carplay. If you leave your car running and leave the bluetooth area, it won't reconnect automatically when coming back. CANbus errors (light out etc) cant be seen unless you're on factory screen.
Music quality through bluetooth is bad compared to bmw original bluetooth (when switching to use cars bt channel, more problems occur..)
With android the MMI doesn't switch screen to darkmode automatically, only when switching headlights off and back on again.
Customer support is rude and suggests to buy a newer car. Don't understand why would you even produce something that doesn't work and then suggest buying yourself a newer car.

People like you ruin joy for everyone else. I wish you would have just communicated. It helps you out in the long run rather than burning bridges with the homeland factory.

#1. CANBUS errors means it is NOT installed correctly. Support is always availabile but you did not contact us about this issue. This means your wiring is not correct along the CAN B# / D# plug.

#2. When switching to BT channel, the MMI audio is completley bypassed. There is no chance for "problems" because you are using the BMW system. This makes no sense and any BMW professional would shake thier head at you.

#3. Nightmode is controlled by your phone, not the MMI. CarPlay APK is stored on your iPhone. Even Apple will tell you this. Go ask Apple where the CarPlay software is loaded and get their response.

#4. You have been using this device for several months and never contacted us about anything. The tech support whatsapp we have is free and not a hidden secret.

#5. If you are seriously having this much trouble with the best MMI in the market, then YES, you need a new car because nothing will ever please you.

Next time, just commiunicate. You are talking directly to the factory so the ansewers are not hidden secret.

Faster shipping than stated

Faster shipping than stated, easy installation, most difficult part is fitting the radio back in with the new wiring harness. Amazing wireless integration, more responsive than most new cars. Will recommend this to everyone
