Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience with BMS Performance

I recently applied for a sales role through BMS Performance and underwent a 15-minute screening call with Hannah Lamb. Given the positive reviews online, I was expecting a professional and collaborative process, but my experience was deeply frustrating and unhelpful.

To start, she called me 10 minutes before of the scheduled time. From the very first second, the interviewer rushed through the conversation as if she just wanted to check off a box and move on. The tone was so hurried that make me feel completely uncomfortable, and genuinely worried that she might hang up before I could finish a sentence! After only 6 minutes, she was already wrapping up the call—explaining that if I didn't hear back in a week, I wasn't selected. Fearing she would hang up, I had to interrupt her just to ask a basic question.

When I asked if BMS could help place me in alternative sales roles if I wasn't successful with this specific vacancy, I was met with a flat, blunt "No." Considering BMS is a recruitment agency, this complete lack of willingness to explore other opportunities was baffling. Left with the impression that she had checked out from the start, I couldn't help but feel that my foreign accent contributed to how dismissively I was treated.

Additionally, the basic lack of preparation was disappointing. She asked if my university studies would interfere with the job. When I explained that I study part-time with the Open University, she asked how often I had to go to campus—demonstrating that she didn't even know what the Open University is. 😳

Overall, the process was horrible, impersonal, and dismissive. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend working with them.

Don't waste your time self-serving and unprofessional treatment company who gives you all of the chitchat, as though they are doing the most or going to do the most for you in looking for vacancies when you reach out to both colleagues, they leave you on read.

They don't reply or if you call them to enquire about a role that they've posted on LinkedIn, they again leave you on read, don't follow-up and only interested when they feel that the CV you have can really put them in a good spot to receive commission, it's performative and doesn't Bode the best performance as one would hope for especially with word "performance" in the name of the company.
