I have ordered books from them before…

I have ordered books from them before with no problem but now I’m getting this message “Unable to contact Fraud Service. Please try again. If the problem persists please contact customer service.” None of my info has changed, no reason for this. So annoying!!

UNACCEPTABLE

Books Ordered Dec 29th.
Showed up January 15th.

Bounced around Raleigh for 7 days.
Upon arrival, plastic wrapping is cut open cleanly with a knife and the bix has a large hole big enough to fit 2 adult sized hands balled into fists into.

Every book was damaged.
Mold. Knife cuts. Damaged dust covers, etc.

Immediately reached out to Book Outlet. Sent many pictures as requested. They said everything is in readable condition.

Excuse me? Mold is readable condition?

I have been ordering from them for YEARS. I recommended them to people constantly.

NEVER AGAIN.

Shame on your absolutely dismal customer service.

I understand that the bouncing around from post office to post office is on USPS. But this company could have boxed books better. They could stop broadcasting what is in the boxes so people stop tearing them open. And they definitely could have simply said, please contact USPS and file a claim. Instead they just said, this is acceptable condition.

I offered to return the books to them. I told them I expect remainder (black dot) marks.

However, I do not expect mold. Or completely bent covers that are creased beyond repair. Torn dust jackets. Gouged edges from box cutters. Etc. That is not acceptable. Even at discount. And it is not what the policy states. This is not minor wear and tear. This is damage. Pure damage.

Horrible Quality Control

They send damaged books. I don't know if they sell them damaged, or it's because they throw them in boxes and don't pack them in securely. The books rattle around like crazy in transit. I will not buy from them again and am fighting them to let me return them. Shoddy business practices, to say the least. Buyer beware.

Books in horrible condition

Books arrived damaged beyond what their " About us" description describes. They were not termed scratch and dent, but sold as new with possible remainder marks, and possible bent pages or minor damage.
The books I received were in what most would term "acceptable for a reading copy" condition. This is far from the good to very good condition I was led to expect. They do not claim a specific condition, but the description of what flaws to expect was misleading. They had scuffing, bent and torn pages and one even had multiple cuts through the slipcover into the spine. The prices were good, but not for copies in this condition.
They did not adjust my prices, or offer a refund after I contacted them and provided plenty of pictures.
The shipping was slow, but that didn't bother me. The packaging was non-existent. Just all the books tossed in a bare box.
Needless to say, I will not order from them again. Buyer beware!

Worst customer service in the world!

Worst customer service in the world. I recently placed two orders with this company. I had a death in the family and had to travel out of state unexpectedly for a few weeks. To avoid my orders from coming up missing I thought I should have the packages rerouted to the destination I would be at for almost the next month. The shipping company that they use informed me to contact Book Outlet directly in order to reroute my order. They explained they do this to avoid someone else from stealing orders, that made sense to me so I followed the shipping companies instructions and called them. Book Outlet refused to help. I asked for a manager and was told I could not speak to one and that one would reach out to me within a weeks time. By that time there is no telling what could happen with the deliveries. The prices are good but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. This is my first and last order with this company. Beware!

i brought a book from this site and would like to return ,they never reply email at all. i have sent 8st email to them ,until two month no one reply!

Now i have report this company to konsumentverket.se and ARN

You get what you pay for…

I have ordered books multiple times from Book Outlet. I like the selections and usually buy during the fiction sale- now $5.99/ book including hardcovers. The books are in good shape with maybe an ink dot on the exterior pages. Packaging is not great- box is always banged up. No packing to hold books in place so they are tossed around and sometimes show wear from shipping. Out of 4 orders It’s only been right once. 2-3 books have been omitted on 2 orders. Now, I just received an order that wasn’t mine. Not one book that I ordered-UGH! So frustrating. So you have to be ready to troubleshoot. Guess this inefficiency is the trade off for the discount prices. Meh.

Bedrövligt företag

Bedrövligt företag! INGET, absolut inget fungerade. Oklara leveranstider. Anger 1 - 3 dagar, vilket visar sig vara först efter att det fått hem varan - packat upp den och sedan packat den till mig. Så böckerna som var födelsedagspresenter kom nästan en vecka för sent.
Konstiga leveransbekräftelser. Snorkiga automatsvar på mejlen. Skickar faktura i stället för kredit (på frakten)......

Horrible packaging, all damaged.

Bought 3 omnibuses in 2 seperate purchases from BookOutlet via Walmart. From NY to PA I received them in 2 weeks. One Omni came just in bubble envelope. 2 others came in a box without any bubble wrap or security. Box was ripped into pieces and was re-taped. All 3 damaged badly. I think they sent me damaged product and tried to cover it by boxing it poorly so it gets damaged badly on the way again. Horrible shipping service.
UPDATE: Contacted support and provided photos. They sent replacement for 2. Box came in wrapped in plastic and looking fancy which excited me. I opened it and surprise surprise there was nothing in the box except books. I was shocked to find out that they don't use bubble wrap. Books were once again damaged from being loose and moving too much in the box. Very dissapointed. I will try instocktrades and organicpricedbooks shipping process.

Terrible

Terrible. You get these at 50% off but they send you damaged ripped books. This is terrible. Half my books came in damaged and tore all up. I will never order from this company again.

Not sure what’s going on?

Not sure what’s going on?? I spent 170$ on books from here and shipping took forever for a week it went back and forth from different places in florida until a few days ago said it couldn’t be delivered. Have called “customer service number” the first time said they couldn’t take calls because their employees were in training ? Second time I was “next In que line” but still said sorry they couldn’t get to me try again later and hung up on me. If I was next in line why couldn’t I just wait?? I have send a request for help on email still haven’t heard back. This is very disappointing.

Slow shipping, worth it.

Shipping was a little slower than I expected, but the books arrived in new condition and I couldn’t be happier. I was initially skeptical given the prices on the books - 5 new paperbacks, a hardback, and a trade for barely $35? Bookoutlet delivered though, super happy customer.

Cheap with some flaws

For the most part, cheap prices of new books is great. The dots and lines can be a bit annoying especially when the books are bought as gifts, but not all of them even have the dots or lines, and I am aware that many places do that to indicate a flawed book. Their packaging could be improved. No bubble packaging and rarely, if ever, even packing paper inside. On more than one occasion, I've had a book inside another book damaging at least one of them from not having proper packing material. Book Outlet is generally good at reimbursing, although if they disagree with an attached image having an issue, they don't acknowledge it. I mentioned a specific item at least 3 times before it got acknowledged because it "didn't look" very damaged in the picture. Overall, I do like the website, but be warned that the new books may not always look new.

Horrible! been a customer some time. Last few orders the books were seriously damaged from improper packing. They lost me.

Great books, great prices ... customer service not so great.

It has been great to find a lot of usually very expensive colouring books at very decent prices and, in spite of all the reviews I've read about books being packed in bad boxes, I have been very impressed with the boxes, which seem to be strong and are also wrapped in heavy plastic, so maybe they have addressed that issue. They still do not put anything inside the boxes to stop the books from flopping around in there but thankfully I haven't received any damaged books.
Shipping is slow but that doesn't really bother me.
Customer service, however, is not very helpful in my opinion. I accidentally ordered two copied of one item and messaged them immediately after ordering, requesting they remove one. They said they couldn't do it because the order had already begun processing. I would have thought something as simple as that could have been done during processing but apparently not. When the error is on their end, like not having a book in stock that was listed as being in stock, they have no problem at all taking it off the order during processing.
I also asked that two of my orders, which I had placed on the same day be combined, in order to get the 15% discount they were running at the time. The answer to that was also no, with the only explanation being that it was not possible. I really feel like they could have been more helpful. I am not in the habit of making requests like this but have done so over the years with other companies I order things from frequently, who have always tried their very best to help. It seems like these guys just can't be bothered. That is very disappointing to me as a customer.

Doesn't ship and then lies about it

Ordered a book from them Thursday last week. I was sent a usps tracking number pretty soon after. After no movement on the tracking I inquired about it Wednesday afternoon this week. That is 4 business days not counting the weekend. Plenty of time to see some movement one would think. They responded that it can take up to 3 business days and possibly more if the order was placed close to the weekend (again on day 4 with no updates). Fair enough. I decided to wait a couple of days in hopes to see something. Not 5 minutes after my interaction there was an update to usps. But usps updated what their shipping partner (which is in house btw) stated. It is now Friday and nothing has changed since then. Usps still does not have the package which tells me that it has not shipped. I have worked shipping before so I know how the process works. I also know that it does not take a week to leave the warehouse. I needed the book by this Sunday and given that nothing has shown up today means a refund for me. I email them today asking them to refund me. I tell them that lying to customers about shipping is bad customer service and I would rather not do business with such company. They refuse to refund me and claim that it is with their shipping partner and is on the way. They sent me the internal tracking from their shipping partner as evidence of this. It shows that the package has been circling the east coast for the past week. It shows a scan in my home city in VA on the day of my original email. It then shows a scan on the 13th with it in PA then with in only a couple of hours back in VA where it has sat for the past day and half. Usps still shows that it has not received the package and that it is in PA. Their evidence just makes them look even worse. I don't know what to believe. If my book doesn't show up soon I guess a chargeback will be in order.

Edit: Book showed up so I'm updating the score. Still low as I feel customer service could be better. They should also fix their shipping process to be more transparent to the customer.
