I was hired out a faulty (in my opinion) turf cutting machine.
Worn tyres and worn drive belts. The machine could barely move by itself. There was also a sheared bolt that joined the frame to the chassis, rendering the machine lopsided and adding to the issues above.
Basic maintenance doesn't seem to be high on the company's agenda.
Furthermore, I was made to feel that I was in the wrong by the staff when I returned the machine and pointed out the problems.
I should have reported the problems straight away. But, I needed to get the job done. Which my back didn't thank me for.
Great bit of kit. Bloody heavy though when it's not working properly 😕

Avoid if you can
The item i pre booked at.least 10days inadvance was not available at the depot when I arrived. An alternative was offered which was not really suitable. The booking out system didn't work and neither did there depot printer to sign for the item. The first sales person had to leave half way through dealing with me as she had to take her cat to the vets! Overall a very poor service,I would avoid certainly the Carlilse depot.

Wood Chipper not Fit for Purpose
I hired a wood chipper to chip small branches cut from trees in a hedge—mostly 2.5 inches or less. The machine failed to feed the branches, necessitating the pushing of the material into the hopper, which was dangerous. The chipper clogged up and required opening and tedious clearance. Tried a couple of times to solve the problem. I noted that the blade was blunt.
I raised this issue when I returned the machine and was assured an investigation and possible refund.
No refund has been received, and there has been no communication from the branch.

Stump grinder didn’t work
We hired a stump grinder. When it wasn’t working when it was delivered. The machine would turn on, but the blade wouldn’t rotate. They sent an engineer the next day who said it needed to be take away, and he thought it was a cable. I was given a refund and it was no problem, just a waste of our time and delay to our project. I ended up hiring someone to do the work for the same cost. I didn’t appreciate the person on the phone said that something must have happened while it was with us, as that wasn’t the case.
