I am a CEFCU member in Springfield…

I am a CEFCU member in Springfield Illinois which my account in Iles street besides white oaks mall. I am outside the country and I am always checking my account every now and then because fraudulent charges experienced in my Debit card. But starting March I can’t access my account anymore because they new rules about security which I like to make our money secured. But the problem is I can’t access my on file phone number because I’m outside the country. And when my wife was there they can’t help me. Even I give all my personal information. Is this bank really helping there members???? I am helpless about this matter and I hope nobody will miss around with my debit card again. And the one that talking to my wife in the branch Is very RUDE we didn’t got her name she’s kind of a heavy woman. This coop bank is not really mean to serve. If there reason is security WHY TWICE IN A YEAR HAPPENED THEY PAY A SCAMMER THRU MY ACCOUNT.???? Im glad they put my money back. The service of this branch is not really SENIOR FRIENDLY. I’m 68 years old and have a direct deposit in this bank. Anyway until now they didn’t give me the promise of a BUNOS a $150.00 if you open a direct deposit. I recieve nothing I feel that I was scam with bank.

Worse than the worst car loan!!!

Worse than the worst. Since March 2024 CEFCU has handled my car payment correctly exactly one single time (and charged a hefty fee to pay by phone!). I decided to try auto-pay. Huge mistake. Three separate times my account was hit by two separate payments! I tried calling customer service after the first debacle, when the customer service agent said a refund was impossible, and wasn't it better to have made an extra payment anyway? The cluelessness and cruelty continue to this day. I had to pay my bank large recovery fees to pull the double payments back to me (if I could afford a car payment over $800 a month I'd have a different house!!) Finally in utter desperation, in June this year I tried to get the exact amount I owed to clear the air and be able to just make the *single* payment as I should have all along. Suddenly, they claimed I was "behind" by...wow, gee who could figure....TWO WHOLE PAYMENTS, denying I made the payments I have record of paying! So, for nownthe FOURTH TIME I paid the over $800 with the kind help of family. I was rewarded by my credit score being DECIMATED!!! They REFUSE to adjust it after appeal for some nonsense reason they made on an early day in June (they will NOT detail WHAT was said in that referenced conversation!) I am beyond FURIOUS but all they will do is gaslight me as this entire debacle is somehow ALL being blamed on ME!!! They have made ZERO AND I MEAN Z.E.R.O. EFFORT TO MAKE ANY AMENDS!!!!! 🤬

Don't do it! Save yourself the headache!

Worst mistake my wife and I have ever made was trusting that this was a competent mortgage company. They miscalculated my taxes by over 3x and now I get a massive bill to make up the difference. They used 3 months of taxes as the number for 12 months. Going to your local loan shark is probably a more honest transaction. Do yourself a favor and go with any other bank in the world. There is no accountability and as soon as it makes sense we will be going to a different company.

Have a car loan with CEFCU and paid it…

Have a car loan with CEFCU and paid it off with a CEFCU savings account. They won’t release my title for 60 days and can’t tell me when that 60 days starts. Their resolution was to have me transfer double the loan amount to release my title. Other banks that appear to have a reasonable amount of reserve funds do not care when you wire money out regardless if it is an ACH transfer and the funds have settled. They appeared to have made up a policy. What happens if a paycheck is ACH’d into one’s account and one pays off a loan.

I would give negative stars if I could

I would give negative stars if I could. The online portal is absolutely terrible. Waiting on hold forever and being transferred is a nightmare. I just wanted to pay my car off. It took me less time to drive to my bank, do the wire and go back to work than to deal with CEFCU on the phone. CEFCU then put the wire in the wrong account. The account number was on the wire. VERY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE! Even if CEFCU is the lowest interest rate, I will pay more not to do business with them EVER again!

Perfect payments on a car loan for 2…

Perfect payments on a car loan for 2 years. Injured on the job which caused loss of income. Got behind 2 months. Collection rep. LINDA treated me like a child on the phone. Would not work with me on a 2 DAY EXTENSION. I will be refinancing once caught up. Do not do business with these despicable people.

Not a bank, worse!

Their slogan is "not a bank, better" but they are actually worse. Why? 1. They share your personal data with other companies without your written approval so you receive a lot of junk mail because to opt out of this policy you have to physically go into a branch and sign a form so that they don't sell your data. They make it as difficult as possible to opt out of this horrendous policy.
2. They do a cash back dividend each year at Christmas. Sounds great right? Wrong, if you have money deposited with them you get almost nothing back. They only reward those who have large loans (mortgages) with them.
3. The interest rates are terrible to hold any money with them. Most banks have better savings/cd rates than this "credit union". Finally, they nickel and dime you with fees. Want to send a wire transfer internationally, $50.
Cefcu is just terrible and should change their slogan to "We strive to be as bad as the worst bank you have dealt with"

I was overdrawn in my cefcu account and…

I was overdrawn in my cefcu account and I owed ebay $15.90 ebay tried to collect the $15.90 but I'm overdrawn in my cefcu account so the money gets returned and I get charged $30 dollars. Ebay kept on doing it twice a day each time I get a $30 dollar overdraft fee. I call CEFCU on the phone who basically says there's nothing they can do about it because it's a debit card purchase. So I went into cefcu on north dirksen in Springfield Illinois someone at ebay got ahold of my account number so cefcu changed the account number so ebay would stop trying to run my card and stop the overdraft fee's almost $100 dollars just from ebay for $15.90 I was already overdrawn in my cefcu account had to pay 210 dollars just in overdraft fee's I'm on social security and have a payee I literally can't do anything on my cefcu account but rack up overdraft fee's cefcu changed my account number to stop ebay from giving me more overdraft fee's but I still had to pay all that back. I got paid with my new account number but the money wasn't in my account so I called CEFCU and talked to Emanuel and asked if it was in my old account he told me that first deposit would take a while call back in a hour or 2. Finally got the deposit then I call CEFCU to get the hold off my account but the rep says I can't do it I have to have my payee call in and get the hold off my account. They call get the hold off my account couple days ago by I get a letter from cefcu telling me they got a deposit for me with the wrong account information letter said to call the company and give them them the correct info or cefcu was going to charge me 10 dollars for each ach deposit they had to manually put in my account. I'm on social security and only get 541 dollars if my mom wasn't still around to help me out this would have left me homeless. I just think it's wrong to give me a new account number because of all of this but let the overdraft charges stick. It's just as easy to update with a whole new bank account this has been the crappiest experience with a institution that's supposed to be better than a bank

I have enjoyed this business

I have enjoyed this business. I have had very good experiences with banking and loans. I highly recommend them. The employees, especially the employees in the central Illinois location, have always been very helpful, nice and a pleasure to talk to and work with when needed. I like having a place I can trust when working with financial endeavors.
