Dishonest & Untrustworthy
I’m sharing my experience of CG Autoshop and Conan after a no-fault accident on 14 July 2025. I visited on 15 July and was referred into the claims process. The repair was booked on 5/6 August for 27 August. I accepted the long wait because I expected work to start when the car was dropped off. At drop-off I was told, almost in passing, that authorization was not in place and the car would not be worked on.
CG Autoshop’s replied and said hire cars and authorizations sit with the claims company. I understand that, but the shop selected the 27 August handover and did not warn that the car would sit in their car park for a week before the work begins. That lack of communication is on CG Autoshop. I was also put into a hire car even though repairs would not begin until 1 September; I returned the hire at 12:15 on Friday 29 August, and authorisation arrived later that day. During this period I was told the car might be kept until mid week commencing 8 September. The interaction at collection was unpleasant; I was accused of nearly hitting Conan’s car, which I dispute, and after that I did not feel comfortable returning.
For comparison, I took the vehicle to JC Paint on a Monday and it was ready on Wednesday, with clear updates. If you do use CG Autoshop, insist on written confirmation of authorisation and a start date before drop-off, and ask for a realistic turnaround. Based on my experience, I would never, ever recommend them.
