I have only been going to CG Spectrum since the beginning of this year and the experience has been wonderful so far. I have learned so much with the beginner drawing course I took to better my basics and I am currently loving the Concept Art Essentials course. The staff is so helpful and sweet and the mentors do amazing at explaining and answering any questions one may have. The pricing is good in my opinion considering you are taught by people who have been in the industry and worked on numerous projects and are now passing on their wisdom to their students. Also it is the fact that these courses are highly specialized and teach exactly what one needs to know and I believe it is a better alternative than going to a university that would force more classes upon you not really relating to ones field.

I’m currently studying the 3D Visualization Foundations program at CG Spectrum, and my experience so far has been outstanding.
As a first-term student, I’ve been impressed by how well-structured and engaging the curriculum is. The lessons are clear, practical, and designed to build a strong foundation while encouraging creativity and technical growth.
A special thank you goes to my mentor, Nicklas Byriel. His industry expertise, constructive feedback, and supportive teaching style have made a significant impact on my learning experience. He takes the time to explain concepts thoroughly, provides actionable advice, and creates an encouraging environment where questions are always welcome. His mentorship has given me greater confidence in my skills and motivated me to keep improving.
One of the things I appreciate most about CG Spectrum is the personalized mentorship and the sense of community. It truly feels like you're learning from professionals who are invested in your success.
I would highly recommend CG Spectrum to anyone looking to build a career in 3D visualization or the wider CG industry. Even in my first term, I already feel that I’m developing a solid foundation and moving closer to my professional goals.

First I signed up with group class, but since I have work experience in game design so my level of skill is a bit not different to the other peers. But I am glad to meet Mr. Luban and Ryan Laley. Their experience and knowledge help me to understand or re-familiarize the perspective I should know as a designer!

Six weeks into the program, and I've already learned more than I did in a year of trying to teach myself. Before signing up, I talked to several people in the admissions office and had great interactions with all of them, every question I had was answered clearly.
My mentor has been fantastic. Each week feels like a personalized masterclass, tailored to exactly what I want to learn. He's encouraging, supportive, and genuinely invested in my growth. I've made so much progress in just six weeks, and I can't wait to see what I'm able to create by the end of the program.

CG Spectrum has been an excellent place to learn industry standards and gain a better understanding of how the real-time 3D industry works. One of its greatest strengths is the opportunity to learn directly from experienced professionals who generously share not only their technical knowledge but also their creative mindset, problem-solving approach, and real-world production experience.
The mentorship has been invaluable, and the community provides a great environment for building meaningful professional connections. I highly recommend CG Spectrum to anyone who is serious about developing both their skills and their understanding of the industry.

My experience at CG Spectrum is quite frankly unmatched. I completed the Bachelor in Concept Art and have learned so much. It was the incredible push and motivation I needed to not only improve my skills but start working towards the video games industry, which has been my goal for years! I've made so many memories and am continuing to meet so many awesome people. 100% recommend CG Spectrum.

I started my Bachelor of 3D Animation and VFX with CG Spectrum in 2024, and the whole experience has been fantastic. The mentors are a major highlight, learning from people with decades in the industry meant I gained real studio insight as well as solid technical skills. Their advice on workflows and what employers look for in junior artists was genuinely invaluable.
CG Spectrum also helped me build confidence in my own creative projects, including producing short films. The community is super supportive, and over the two years I made great friends. We celebrated wins together, helped each other through challenges, and it always felt like a team effort.
I’d definitely recommend CG Spectrum to anyone wanting industry-ready skills, experienced mentors, and a genuinely encouraging learning environment.

I came into the VFX program with some professional experience in another area of the industry, as well as some previous school experience. Even so, I was genuinely impressed by how comprehensive the program was. It doesn’t just teach you the technical and creative aspects of VFX—it also emphasizes the importance of presenting yourself and your work professionally, which was incredibly eye-opening.
I had taken some general classes on professional development before, but this program went into much greater detail about what to do, what to avoid, and how to prepare yourself for the industry. That guidance was just as valuable as the technical training.
Every instructor I had was kind, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed. I learned so much about VFX while also gaining a much deeper understanding of the industry and what it takes to build a career in it.
I would absolutely recommend CG Spectrum to anyone looking to pursue a career in VFX. A special thank you to my teacher and mentor, Daniel Hourighan, who was an exceptional instructor. His guidance, knowledge, and support made a huge difference throughout my time in the program.

Truly a great experience. Great school.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
They teach well . Art is not an easy subject , particularly Commercial Art.
I think the uninitiated would be surprised.
I would like to give a shout out to my mentor Gwen Torenbeek while I am here also. And my tutors. Humza Khan and others.

I recently finished the c++ / Unreal programming course with Tom Oliver as 1 on 1 mentor. I have a background in programming so I didn't need to start from scratch. This allowed us to go into deeper and into more topics during our sessions.
It's clear that Tom has experience and knowledge far beyond the course. But I have likewise seen him explain more basic topics to new students with much care. I feel that Tom and CG as a whole genuinely tried to educate and improve my skills.
Besides your mentor there are also regular open sessions for all disciplines and you can learn more than just your discipline. It is encouraged to reach out to other students from your course but also between different disciplines to build a greater understanding of the whole.
The community as a whole felt very welcoming.
I would recommend CG!

PROS
my first year was great love the community made tones of friends through CGS through all courses I get very good advice though the CGS community the TAs and community Managers care about you and what you want to do after your courses everyone is super nice and CGS and I have fun playing games with them or talking about the film and game industry
CONS
as much as I love CGS the pricing is high especially for my standards and the mentors are very caring but mine I don't believe was he was a good mentor helped me out but when I was finished with my class he completely cut contact with me I tried talking to him many times but with no answer which hurts to be ignored by someone who is trying to help you I feel like I was lied to

This experience at CG Spectrum was extremely positive, especially in terms of learning. Anyone who says otherwise most likely had a rare, negative personal experience.
All the necessary support was always available, whether through fellow students, mentors, or the many resources provided by the course. The learning structure is clear and easy to follow, and above all, the people involved are genuinely great. On top of that, the staff is fast and responsive whenever any issue comes up.

I recently completed the 3D Modeling Specialization course which concludes an eighteen month long 3D Modeling Career Pathway at CG Spectrum school, and I’m very satisfied with the overall experience. The courses provided in-depth knowledge and hands-on skills that have significantly improved my 3D modeling abilities.
A standout part of my learning was working with my mentor, Anton Tenitsky. He has a real talent for teaching, explaining complex concepts clearly and going deep into details when needed. His critiques were honest and constructive, which pushed me to improve consistently. Anton was always punctual and accessible throughout the week, providing timely answers to my questions. His attention to detail and dedication made a big difference in my growth as a 3D artist.
I highly recommend CG Spectrum for anyone serious about advancing in 3D modeling
CG Spectrum disappoints on multiple levels. The content is delivered in videos that feel like low budget youtube content, the staff is immature and unprofessional, and the only bright spot is the slack page where students are able to interact with former and current students as well as staff. As a former student I would highly recommend staying away from this "school" and if you do decide to join make sure to only pay for one semester at a time.
Like any school or institution, it really boils down to your own motivations and, of course, the teachers. This online institute does give you all of the resources, and more, for you to succeed. A student license for your program of study, an online community that is very active, and teachers (or mentors as they are called here) was everything I needed to succeed. This place of learning was the perfect fit for my needs. I work a full time job and the online flexibility allowed me to fit this course into my life around everything else going on. My mentor was encouraging; challenging me to go further, and was flexible with my schedule when something came up in life as things happen. I like to think I was lucky with getting an amazing mentor, but I believe that all of the teachers are on the same level as the one I got to learn from. All are or have been in the industry and know their craft inside and out. I learned a lot from the course material, but I learned most of it from trial and error. A book, video lesson, and even a teacher will only take you so far. I was able to utilize CGS's tools, workflow, and community to learn something that I have always had a passion to study.
I regret to say that I cannot recommend this school. Unfortunately, the value for the price paid is extremely low, with course content falling short of expectations.
For the same investment, students would be better off seeking a mentor directly or exploring more affordable, high-quality courses available on platforms such as ArtStation, Domestika, or even YouTube.
Additionally, the school does not have a strong reputation within the industry.
It seems the institution is primarily focused on profit, as most of their budget appears to be allocated towards marketing and advertising efforts rather than improving the quality of education offered.
After attending CG Spectrum, I enrolled at another school called Think Tank, and the difference was remarkable. For a similar price, the courses offered top-tier content and included multiple program licenses for 3D modeling software, providing a far more comprehensive learning experience. By studying at Think Tank I’ve already learned way more.
If you are serious about pursuing a career in 3D modeling and wish to avoid wasting both time and money, I strongly suggest conducting thorough research before making your decision.
Unfortunately, this institution does not meet the standards necessary for a solid educational foundation in this field.
I do not recommend this school. Resources are limited, and there is a noticeable lack of care in how the school is managed overall. If you’re looking for a place that values students’ education, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There are definitely better options out there!
This school has nosedived—from a leading choice for aspiring artists to one of the worst. Corporate greed and disastrously poor management have stripped away educational quality and crushed morale.
There are no full-time instructors. Instead, students are assigned "industry mentors" who are classified as casual employees. They’re only paid for the time they spend actively teaching—no paid time off, no sick days, no benefits. It’s a gig economy setup, no different from food delivery or rideshare work. Mentors typically have just 20–30 minutes to interact with students before their compensation ends, forcing them to cram lessons into a narrow window. Burnout is inevitable, and meaningful mentorship becomes impossible.
Student complaints—regardless of merit—are often met with immediate termination of the mentor. This creates a culture where mentors are pressured to coddle students rather than challenge them or hold them accountable. All course sessions are recorded, yet these recordings are rarely, if ever, reviewed to confirm or deny the validity of complaints. The school demands little to no credibility or responsibility from students, and grading is frequently reviewed—and sometimes altered—by the governing body, further eroding academic integrity.
To make matters worse, the school has adopted new government regulations to qualify for financial aid, pushing young artists deeper into debt. Combine that with a knee-jerk termination policy and a toxic feedback loop, and you’re left with an institution that feels anxious, unstable, and broken.
Steer clear.
CG spectrum is absolutely worth the money. As person who struggled trying to figure out what I wanted to do as a 3d artist. The school and the community helped me figure it out, plus everyone is very helpful as you go through the a course.
Absolutely amazing.
Couldn't fault it at all. I had a great learning experience and was fully supported with such a great community.
