We’re sorry to read your comments and, if we’re honest, a little disappointed that you chose to go straight to Trustpilot rather than contacting us first. Had you reached out to our team, we would have gladly investigated and worked with you to resolve things quickly.

Our Steak, Ale & Chestnut Mushroom Pie does include mushrooms by design, but every batch is produced to maintain a proper balance between steak and mushroom. The suggestion that all 16 pies contained no steak is highly unusual and certainly not reflective of how this product is made, which is why we are very keen to understand exactly what happened here.

If you would like us to look into this properly, please contact us at hunks@takeachunk.co.uk with your order details and any photos you may have. Without that information, it’s very difficult for us to investigate or put things right.

We take quality seriously and would much rather resolve genuine issues directly than try to decipher them after the fact on a public review platform.

It is always disappointing for us to receive this kind of feedback, particularly when our most recent correspondence on this order made it clear that we would be escalating the matter further internally. This is something we have not been given ample opportunity to follow up prior to your review and various social media posts in relation to our company.

The order was delivered on the scheduled delivery date to the address provided at checkout, in line with the delivery instructions specified at the time of ordering. As no safe place or neighbour delivery options were provided, the courier completed the delivery as standard and marked it as successful.

The claim that the parcel was left on a public footpath is incorrect. The courier provided photographic evidence showing the parcel placed directly in front of the door of the correct delivery address. There was no note or message stating “take me” left with the delivery; this wording does not appear on any courier documentation or delivery materials. Additionally, publicly available mapping imagery shows a clear separation between the front of the property and the main road, which is inconsistent with the description provided in this review.

Due to the perishable nature of our products, couriers are under strict instruction not to return orders to the depot for later or next-day delivery. Where no alternative delivery instructions are provided, deliveries are therefore completed on the scheduled day in line with standard procedure.

In summary, this was a confirmed delivery that was subsequently reported as missing. Where customers have concerns about potential theft or require alternative handling, delivery instructions such as a safe place or neighbour option can be provided at checkout. As no such instructions were given in this case, the delivery was completed correctly.

Our delivery information explains that once an order has been delivered, we are unable to take responsibility for it being removed by a third party. While we recognise that this is frustrating, it is not something we are able to control or resolve with a replacement or refund.

We care a great deal about our customers and about maintaining high standards of service, which is reflected in the thousands of positive reviews we receive across other platforms.

As a gesture of goodwill, our Customer Service Team will be sending you a £20 voucher should you wish to purchase from us again in future.

Thanks for taking the time to leave another review. We're sorry to hear that the Cheese and Onion Pasty didn't meet your expectations on this occasion.

Just to clarify, potato is a traditional and essential part of any Cheese and Onion Pasty. It helps balance the richness of the cheese and onion, brings the right texture to the filling, and allows the pasty to bake evenly. Without it, the result would be overly greasy, salty, and not particularly pleasant to eat.

We do appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, especially as a returning customer. We’ve also noted your point about the crimp and will be raising that with our kitchen team as part of our regular quality checks.

That said, we don’t have any plans to change the core recipe. The current filling has proven to be very popular with the majority of our customers and is part of what makes this pasty a consistent favourite.

Sorry to hear this was your experience, but it does sound like the decision was made before the oven door was even open.

Our pasties arrive baked, chilled and ready to reheat. Countless customers reheat and enjoy them every week with no issue, and judging by over 9,000 reviews averaging 4.7 out of 5, the nation's taste buds seem to be working just fine.

Throwing out a full box of food is a real shame. We are big believers in reducing waste, and even if they were not to your taste, we are sure someone nearby would have gladly taken them off your hands.

With over 9,000 customer reviews averaging 4.7 out of 5, and sixteen consecutive Great Taste Awards for our Steak Pasty alone, we are confident in the quality of what we make. That said, taste is personal and we know we will not win everyone over.

Sorry to hear the Pork Pie didn't hit the spot. I cannot see any reference to you having purchased any Squealer Pork Pies from us directly and therefore assume that a friend was kind enough to share one with you. The pastry on our pork pies is made to a traditional hot water crust recipe and can therefore occasionally seem a little dryer than more mass produced pork pies which are generally significantly softer in texture. The comments about the fill are more concerning and this is genuinely the first time we have heard the pork compared to black pudding in a review. The flavour profile of black pudding is massively different and I have therefore passed your feedback to our kitchen and production team.

Would you be able to provide the batch number of the product purchased to hunks@takeachunk.co.uk please? This can be located on the rear of the product packaging.
