Claire Austin Hardy Plants is a specialist mail order plant nursery that's built it's reputation on supplying quality hardy perennials. The range spans everything from classic cottage garden favourites to more unusual specimens and includes hundreds of different varieties carefully selected for their garden performance. Decades of hands-on growing experience, propagating, trialing, testing and tending to plants has resulted in the knowledge that every plant we offer is worthy of it's place in the garden. We hold Plant Heritage National Collections of hybrid herbaceous peonies and bearded irises and have received numerous medals and awards at shows including gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The National Collections include hundreds of irises and peonies, including unusual varieties not commonly found in local garden centers or at other nurseries. Our careful, effective and secure delivery packaging using recyclable materials ensures the plants arrive in excellent condition and will thrive after planting. Really disappointed
Really disappointed. Coreopsis arrived badly potted and in a very poor condition compared to the same size potted Coreopsis I had bought a few days before from another Nursery. They were not fit for planting for any impact this year despite being noted for flowering through the next 2 months. They were over twice the price of the others but I bought them as needed them quickly for a wedding coming up. I planted them in an out of the way spot in the hope they come up next year. I emailed my disappointment and was told it was probably because they had been left in full sun in their nursery. If I returned them they said they would refund but that is messy and a hassle so putting it down to experience and won't buy from them again.

Sorry to hear of your recent disappointment and that the plant didn't meet your expectations. It is always our intention to supply good, healthy plants at a reasonable price.
As with many retail mail order businesses we could have organised collection back to our address and refunded you. We appreciate that it is not an ideal situation for you or us and apologise again for any disappointment. We hope that now the plant is planted in the garden it thrives as our plants do normally.

My review is that of a first time customer and I have absolutely no hesitation in giving 5 Stars.
The quality of the 4 Sanguisorba I ordered and their amazing and ingenious packaging are both absolutely perfect.
Healthy, well watered plants that have travelled safely in their very clever packaging, together with detailed care and planting instructions.
I am delighted and look forward to many years of enjoyment provided by these lovely plants.

Well packed plants in perfect condition, growing healthily
I browsed the Claire Austin website on Wednesday evening and ordered 12 plants of 4 types in 9 cm pots. I received the plants less than 48 hours later on Friday afternoon. The plants were very well packed, in perfect condition and obviously growing healthily.
This is not my first order from Claire Austin and won’t be my last. All the plants I’ve received in previous years have grown well and flowered as expected.

We pride ourselves on supplying quality, healthy, outdoor grown plants and believe our commitment and record of doing this and ensuring promptly delivered and well packed plants is reflected in the many reviews seen online. Unfortunately it is apparent that we have failed to meet your expectations on this occasion.
We would have appreciated an opportunity to rectify any problems or to offer expert planting advice, as we note from your review of another plant company that you seem to have encountered other plant losses. Unfortunately as the review doesn't identify you or your order we are unable to do more than offer our apologies for the disappointment you feel and wish you happiness and pleasure in your future gardening endeavours.

Good range of high quality plants
We have been redoing our garden with a mixture of shrubs and perennials. We ended up ordering most of them from Claire Austin Plants. They have an extensive range, and the plants arrived well packed and in good condition. I particularly like that they use straw as a packaging material, so we ended up reusing it as mulch for our strawberry plants.
