Disappointed.

Disappointed to say the least. We were very regular visitors to our local Cote and took all our friends there, it was just the sort of restaurant you hoped to find in France, but rarely did. Unfortunately it closed down. However we found that the Cote at Home meals were 99% as good as in the restaurant and have ordered frequently and also introduced all our family to it, who ( until now) have used it as the catering for special occasions and family gatherings, and took boxes away with us on self-catering holdays.
Not any more, the loss of variety and concentration on the boxes which don't allow choice have driven us away. Please bring back the previous Cote at Home menu and we promise to make assiduous use of it.
Dreaming of the guinea fowl ballotine...

New range is a disaster

In the last two years I have ordered and enjoyed numerous meals from cote at home. The new "box" range has no vegetarian options nor any ability to construct a menu for a group with diverse needs. A sad loss.

Please bring back the previous menu choices!

We have previously enjoyed many delicious meals from Cote at Home and have recommended to friends and family who have been equally impressed. Now the previous menu appears no longer available, only “experience" boxes (the name alone puts me off) with no possibility of putting together your own menu choices as was the case before. This is important to me not least because I am gluten-intolerant and could always find a good choice of GF options previously. Not any more: all the boxes except the BBQ one have gluten-containing items and in any case none of the boxes appeal at all. Sadly we will no longer be buying from Cote at Home while they only offer these “experience" boxes. Very disappointed.

Please restart previous range

We so loved Cote at Home and used to order regularly throughout the pandemic. The couriers were always bang on time with excellent delivery and packaging. It was great excitement when the boxes arrived and I was amazed that there didn't seem anything they couldn't do or add to the range. We particularly adored the Fourgasse and would order lots along with everything else on the list so totally disappointed to see the change. We haven't been back to restaurant either by way of a protest. Please bring back this marvellous range.

The whole system has changed so you…

The whole system has changed so you can’t order what you want just their prepared package boxes. Shame used to enjoy their food but not buying food I don’t want.

Date box

Bought the date box with scallops and steak. Excellent quality and delivered on time with good packaging. Looking forward to the next one.

Poor customer care when things go wrong 😩

My husband ordered a mothers day meal box as a treat having had great meal boxes from Cote in the past.
Could not believe the state the food arrived in this time however 😵
Two of the containers had come open and were badly bashed, everything was covered in the sticky ingredients from the damaged food containers.
The big blue Cote box showed no signs of damage so it was not caused by a rough delivery.
It must have been put together in poor condition at production. 😩
I phoned Cote who were initially less than concerned and seemed surprised at our dissatisfaction with the awful condition our goods had arrived in, even after having seen the photos they had requested.
I was told as it was the carrots that had been damaged with the blood orange sauce leaking over everything they would replace the carrots and we could still wipe and use everything else 🙄
This was frankly insulting and the worst possible customer care, I had to actually convince the lady ( who told me she was a Manager ) that this was not good enough,asking her if she would like her mother to receive her Mother’s Day treat in this condition!?? £125!!!
I asked for our money back, I was so cross with the whole experience, but she said she couldn’t do that as it was only the carrots!
I wish I could share the pictures of everything covered in a sticky brown residue and the lining of box soaked with it 😬
I was eventually offered a voucher but with this Mother’s Day spoiling experience we were not sure we would ever want to use Côté again.
Had to agree to another full replacement box being sent out as our only option.
It did arrive the next day with no damage but not with what was promised in the box .
At no stage did I feel I was offered any form of a genuine apology and definitely wasn’t made to feel like a valued customer which made me an angry customer 😬
A very grateful Mother for my lovely family and their good intentions but not for the experience we received on choosing Cote for a special day 😩

Par excellence!

Second time that we have got our ‘Cotes’ on and it
was even better than the first. Booked only 2 days before for Mother’s Day and delivery and food par excellence.
Relaxing, fuss-free .....and cheaper than a busy restaurant: for special occasions and Sunday lunches
what more could you want?

Would Have Been Great Except for One Dish

We had our first order from Cote courtesy of a gift from our daughter. We ordered starters and mains dishes mainly fish and vegetarian. We found all the dishes except one (the fish Parmentier) both generous and tasty representing good value for money. As an aside the order was delivered efficiently and well packaged with ice bags to keep dishes as fresh as possible. The fish parmentier was the only dish which was freezable which we did for a couple of weeks. On cooking the dish, it would like the other dishes have been delicious had it not been for the excessive salt used in the dish. This almost made it inedible which was a great shame because the ingredients and recipe were very good.

Overall this service went well

Overall this service went well. Easy to order and the delivery came on the morning of the delivery day, with no extra cost, and the packaging was excellent. We ordered mains for 4 along with beans and peas and three of us had the beef bourguignon, plus I had a voucher for a bottle of wine, so all good.
Impressed with the quantity and quality BUT what really made the meal not so good was that there was way, way too much salt in the beef, so much so that it meant that we had to leave most of it. I very rarely have beef so for us it was a treat, but I do advise you to stay clear of this main, if you do not want salt on it, in it and arround it.
I have now looked at the ingredients and it does indeed refer to salt, not once but three times.
Shame, as it put the mockers on what was my birthday dinner.
Would I order again, probably yes but I would read the ingredients more carefully but even so Cote really do need to alter what should be a fine main course.

Hours waiting for phones that are not picked up.
Cote blame the courier (DPD).
Courier not helpful.
I strongly suggest that you don’t use this awful service.

Good food but big boxes

We've ordered from Côte at Home a few times, and each order has been a delight. Dishes are generally delicious and arrive promptly, cold and well-packed.

However, one area of improvement they could invest in is packaging. For most of the products, the boxes each dish comes in are hilariously oversized for the amount of food in them.

The salted caramel tart is the most ludicrous example of this, where a single narrow slice of tart and three raspberries rattle around in a box the size of a 4-person lasagne.

It's a huge waste of materials (ironic, since they include a whole pamphlet about recycling with every delivery), and frustratingly gobbles up fridge space like nothing else.

Great Sunday lunch

I have had a couple of meals from here which have varied in quality. The last one was awful and I received a voucher after complaining. Ordered the Sunday lunch and I have to say it was beautiful (Shame it arrived on the wrong day!). Cote have redeemed themselves. Shame the quality isn’t consistent.

Do not order the lobster Thermidor!

My order arrived on time as planned and was very well packaged, the 'thank you' gift of a wedge of cheese was a nice gesture even though the use by date was that day. We cooked the meal as per the instructions for a special occasion the next day and unfortunately were both very disappointed, although I wasn't expecting restaurant quality I did expect value for money. The frites were okay and a generous potion but not as good as those on sale at Waitrose. The lobster Thermidor was such a let down, the reheated lobster meat was very chewy and the sauce had completely run off the shells leaving a watery pool at the bottom of the tray. The apple tart however was very good. On the whole however, I was very disappointed, having spent just under £75 on a meal for two, I expected far more. The lobster Thermidor just didn't work, it had no resemblance at all to the photograph on their website.

Let down by the Apres Ski Box.

Whilst the cheese fondue was a good sized portion and very tasty, the bread was like those cheap partially cooked loafs you buy in twin packs from supermarkets. Not the rustic looking loaf in the picture.
The Tartiflette was a huge letdown.... A measly 250g portion is enough for one person only and was completely dry... Such a letdown.
Lastly the meringues for the chocolate fondue..... Again, disappointing portion size. 18 in the picture yet just 10 in the pack.
I realise the picture is only a representation but it's the only reference you have to go by when ordering!
I'd come across this recently and told a number of friends about it, all of whom asked me to let them know what it was like. Needless to say none will now be trying it after my experience. Shame as the three things that let this meal down were all cheap items!!

Excellent

Excellent! Good food in generous portions, nice sides included with most mains. Careful attention to details - French butter to go with baguettes and crisp wafers with the delicious Lemon and Armagnac Posset. Cleverly conceived so that all cooked dishes can be heated at the same oven temperature. Carefully prepared and meticulously packaged with ice packs and thermal insulation to keep it fresh. The pleasure of eating out at a Côte Brasserie with the convenience of staying at home! The only thing missing is the professional and friendly service which we always enjoy in Côte Brasseries!

We have been regular customers of Cote…

We have been regular customers of Cote at Home but we were extremely disappointed with our latest order. One of the dishes had damaged packaging which must have occurred before dispatch as the outer packing was undamaged and then the beef in the Beef Bourguignon was tough and chewy and with lots of gristle. This was not like the previous versions of this dish which we have enjoyed. I can no longer recommend them as their standards appear to have dropped.
