Recently I received expert advice from Currencies Direct when I needed to pay in a bankers draft in Mallorca.

Charlotte who is based in the Puerto Pollensa office was an absolute gem. She patiently explained the procedures involved, and all necessary paperwork was set up ready for my visit. As Charlotte wasn't in the office on the day (a great shame as it would of been nice to meet in person), Aldine was ready to complete the action, and we felt in safe hands. With the bank across the road it couldn't of been easier.

The London office were able to answer all my questions when back in the UK, and in conclusion it was all a very professional and friendly experience! Thank you.

I have used Foreign Currencies Direct on several occasions now, and will have no hesitation in using them in the future.

I find that no matter whether I have a substantial or relatively small amount to exchange, I'm always treated with respect and given sufficient opportunity to discuss my requirements and hence make good decisions.

I've found my account manager, Daniel Wright, very knowledgeable and helpful, and always very responsive to my questions.

Overall I'm exceptionally grateful to the company, and very impressed with the customer service I recieve.

They misinformed me about the process, despite several attempts to clarify things. They guaranteed to beat Transferwise's rate saying they always did - and then tried to give my wife a poorer rate until I reminded them of their "promise" which I got in an email. They then agreed a better rate. Having done so they said the money was being transferred to us then and there. It did not show up and a day later when chased they came up with new "rules" they had to follow - when I asked to speak to their MD or legal department it was suddenly solved and we finally got the money out of them. Not recommend

I went to this company looking for a simple solution to transfer, £1,000 per month, to my Spanish Bank Account. I had been a taxpayer in the UK for 40 years, owned the same house for 25 years - which I had just sold and owned two businesses. Currently, I didn't own a house in the UK but sent them my driving licence, passport, contract of rental for a Spanish property and a receipted, stamped and signed document from my Spanish bank, confirming that I had a monthly utility bill, for the internet connection, at my property in Spain. Obviously, this was done on the device of their compliance department. Once it was done, they then advised me that what I done was unacceptable and that I needed to get my Spanish bank to print, sign and stamp a bank statement. I pointed out that it was all done on line and that this wasn't possible. They refused to do anything and insisted that I did it. I then refused and asked for my money back. Comically, they said that they couldn't pay my money back to me as it would be in breach of money laundering regulations. I demanded my money back and they the said that they wouldn't pay it back as they had lost money on the transfer. I then threatened them with legal action and magically, they paid the money, in foreign currency, into my bank account, within 40 minutes.

I rang to speak with their MD, who wouldn't either take or return my call. I would avoid this lot like the plague. I was told so many different things by so many apparently untrained and ill informed staff that the process became quite ridiculous.

Their strap line is 'easy'. It should be changed to 'clowns'.

I have been using FCD for over 10 years and followed closely what I might get for equivalent amounts transferred from other brokers, banks and cash agencies. FCD is almost always the most competitive. Personal and friendly service is the norm. Advice is always to the point and well put. I fell well looked after. Highly recommended.

I want to thank my personal broker, Jonathan Watson for his support during our recent house purchase in Greece. I had problems with my transfer as I was given the wrong information by the Greek lawyer regarding the beneficiary and due to the foreign bank not following protocol there was a delay of over a week in getting my money back into my account. As a first time user, I was nervous and stressed about the money because it was a lot to lose. I was repeatedly reassured by friends and family that the money would surface eventually but it is hard when you are being hassled by solicitors and agents who are equally concerned that the money hadn't turned up.

Jonathan made it his business to do a trace on my transaction a little ahead of the usual time so we were only in limbo for a week. He phoned and emailed me every day and also spoke to the agents in Greece to assure them that I had tried to send the money! He did everything he could to reassure me during this very difficult time. His personal service is second to none.

We recently moved to Canada from the UK and were looking for a forex company that could not only give us a great exchange rate, but could handle currency conversions easily for us over email rather than the phone, as soon as we needed them.

Our account manager, Daniel Johnson, was always extremely responsive and if we sent him a request to exchange some money, he would get back to us very quickly, with an excellent rate, and the transaction would generally be completed in a matter of hours.

The rates of exchange we received have always been extremely close to those listed on the web, and Daniel has contacted us each time there has been a favourable rate change so we can make an informed decision on when to change up more money.
