JUST DON'T

Discount tire...perhaps not...discount service quality perhaps.
I have now returned to this place two times to have tire balance corrected, the first time I was told the tires were mounted incorrectly with the TPMS system counterbalance in the wrong place. the second time I returned they tried to tell me that the small rocks were the problem and they would remove them before balancing, which they did not remove , after leaving the tires bounced worse than when I got there. this is very infuriating as I must drive a 160 mile round trip just to have smoke blown somewhere I do not want it...never again!

Leaving after 35 years

I brought in my 2024 Tesla Model 3 to have a warranty replacement on the Michelin Primacy All Seasons. They are rated for 40,000 miles and I was at 28,800. This was going to give me about a $350 warranty discount and I was ready to pay when the clerk "talked to the manager" and decided that I "couldn't have that credit" because "Michelin won't take the tire back".
I'm going to contact Michelin and see why they will not honor their warranty. And I'm going to contact Discount Tire's corporate office to see why they will not honor a tire manufacturers warranty. When I got home, I tried calling the store to verify this, and was put on hold for 14 minutes and finally hung up due to no answer from the manager. I am done, like many others, with Discount Tire and their nonsense.
Once I got home and gave a review on YELP, they called me back and said they "called Michelin and can honor that warranty" and to "bring it back and we can get them installed". They should've done that when I was in the store. I'm not going back, it's terrible customer service, and don't call me anymore. I'm done. Between me, my wife and my 3 sons, we've probably purchased 20 or more SETS of tires from Discount Tire over the years, starting back when I was in college in 1987. At least $20,000.00 worth of tires and replacements. No longer. I'm purchasing my tires from a local small business.

What happened to Discount Tire

Incredible what happen to them. You use to be able to go in buy tire and come back. Now you go and check-in to be able to buy the tires. Literally a 30 minute Wait after you check in to see a salesman to buy a tire. The wait who know how long to get it installed. Avoid avoid avoid. Go to Costco

Poor Expertise Worse Management! photos available

I arrived at Discount Tires on 9/17/25 after lunch. I had what I thought was a nail in my rear drivers side tire. I was approached in the parking lot by a worker that I asked if he could come back to me in 10 minutes or so because I had unfortunately received and emergent call I could not ignore. He proceeded to scan my tires and i explained I realized they were getting to the point where they were needing replaced however, it would be about 2 weeks before I could come back and purchase 4 new tires. Understand, I have bought all of my tires from this location since 2012. I drive all over texas in my car for work and buy tires often. However, I explained to the man discretely (i thought) that I had an unexpected health issue and would not be able to purchase the full set of new tires yet. I stated, I respectfully request you just check this tire and i would get back to them asap to proceed with new tires. He refused, insisting I buy all new tires now! I stated I could not and had stopped at another discount tires earlier in the day during which they checked my tire/air and agreed it would be ok to simply fix the tire and delay the new set for a couple weeks. I finished my call and he did not come back so i went inside. Upon getting to the desk, he to tell me it was the company policy to only repair tires that were safe. I explained again, another location had already deemed my tire repairable. I was again told NO! He then walked away, now a manager comes in with my tire off of my car and he is attempting to tell me my tire was not repairable. I explained the other person told me it was. i then downloaded a diagram for was a tire repairable. Mine was (see pics). He laughed and said not if he says it is not, he pointed to a tread poster in the middle of the room. I explained my tread was close, but was not yet at or below that range. I also explained my tire had not lost any air. He then started raising an argumentative tone in front of aprox 6 other customers. I explained the debate was irrelevant because I simply had a health issue and could not afford 4 new tires right now. I then asked him nicely to put my tire back onto my car. He said he couldnt do that. I then more sturnly stated I didnt consent for him to take it off and he needed to put it back on so I could leave he again said no. I finally said loudly put the tire back on my car you have now lost a loyal customer. He then walked away. After a few minutes another worker came to the door and asked for me, he apologized stating "he is not explaining it right, the issue isn't the nail it is a whole other thing" I left and went to `firestone, on the way there my brake pad light came on stating there was now an issue that did not exist prior to this encounter. I regularly get my car serviced at the dealership and there has not been any issues! Upon arrival to firestone....they graciously pointed out it in FACT WAS NOT A NAIL IN MY TIRE, THERE WAS NO PUNCTURE, IT WAS SIMPLY A BROKEN NAIL TOP THAT HAD WEDGED INTO THE TIRE TREAD (IN BETWEEN) HE FLICKED IT OUT LAUGHING THAT IF THE DISCOUNT TIRE GUY HAD ACTUALLY CHECKED IT THERE WAS NO "SAFETY" ISSUE AND I SIMPLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REASSURED AND SENT ON MY WAY TO RETURN WHEN I WAS READY TO BUY THE TIRES! INTEGRITY TIRES IN RICHMOND WAS PROFESSIONAL, COMPASSIONATE, KIND, AND THERE WAS NO CHARGE FOR MY TIRE CHECK! i AM NOW THERE FOREVER CLIENT! DISCOUNT TIRES ...TRAIN YOUR TEAM BETTER! CONTACT ME I CAN SAY THE YOUNG MAN WHO CAME OUT TO ME BEFORE I LEFT SHOULD BE PROMOTED AND THE MANAGER WELL I DONT HAVE WORDS... GOOD RIDDENS!

100 Loop 288 & McKinney

Discount Tire, 100 Loop 288 & McKinney, Denton, TX
The absolute worst. I’d made a 2:15 PM appointment. On the phone I verified at least three times with the guy that it was in fact, the loop 288/McKinney location. I got there just a few minutes after 2 o’clock and waited in line for like 15 or 20 minutes. I asked one of the guys if I had made an appointment did I still have to wait in line. He said yes. So what’s the use of making an appointment?? The people who told me where to park were really rude. Screaming. When I FINALLY got to the desk. The guy told me I didn’t have an appointment, and asked me if it was the right location. I said yes. He said if you wait longer than 10 minutes, your appointment disappears. I said I’d just walked in the door right after 2 PM. He started making excuses, basically just saying nothing…I just left and told him I didn’t wanna do business with them. What a useless company! They’ll probably be out of business within a year.

Unfortunately will not use them again

Unfortunately, Discount Tire has partnered with Synchrony to supply credit to their customers. And unfortunately, I was in a bad spot and needed to use them. I’ve made my payments on time and even have my auto pay turned on, and they still ruined my credit by canceling my account. Not because I missed a payment, but because I was making minimum payments and nothing more. Now that I’m in a better spot, I had planned on paying that card off and going in with another vehicle at the end of August to get set up with new tires and possibly upgrade the rims. Well not anymore. Discount needs to look long are hard at who they have as a preferred credit vendor. Synchrony is not it.

Discount Tire left my vehicle in an incredibly dangerous state

I had new wheels installed at this shop in February. A few days ago, my front driver-side tire completely detached while driving--an extremely dangerous situation that thankfully didn't occur on the highway. Zack from the shop confirmed that the installation did not follow their own policy of a minimum of 6 threads of engagement per bolt.

Despite this acknowledgment, the shop has challenged my claim and deferred the matter to their insurance provider, rather than taking direct responsibility.

This experience has shaken my trust in their workmanship and customer care. The safety of my family was put at risk due to negligence. Based on this, I cannot recommend this tire shop to others.

I've provided a picture of what they thought was ok to use vs what is actually ok to use. They did not follow their own directions and violated their own stated policy that numerous employees have told me, "we look for a minimum of 6 threads of engagement" - Stephen, and installed wheels in such a manner that only 1-2 threads were engaged.

Had a great experience in multiple Discount Tire locations, starting from buying and installing new tires, getting patch fixes, rotations, and alignment.

Every tech had a tailored approach to every case that I had. I had lifted 4Runner and they did their best to get my alignment into spec beyond of what they were supposed to do.

F-350 service truck

Had set up an appt at the greenfield and baseline location .Discount called me to ask me what tires I wanted put on the truck.We called ahead to make sure the BFG all terrain tires were there and ready to go.They weren’t and they wanted to put the same crappy tires back on the bridge stone passenger tires.They scrambled to get the tires my tech showed up to pick up his truck that afternoon and had to sit and wait two extra hours to get his truck finished.whoever they had mounting and balancing of the tires must have been a rookie3 of the 4 tires they installed had no weights on them one tire was ok.The whole truck was shaking having ball joints replaced having the run the tires up to the base line and country club location to get them re-balanced the right way and hopefully with the proper weights.Always had good service in the past just want other people to be aware this happened to us it’s a safety hazard I don’t know they hire but it wasn’t a good experience.Thats the reason for the2 star review.

Order tires and wheels a few days…

Order tires and wheels a few days before my appointment got a call saying my wheels are discontinued so the assistant manager said he could Order me different wheels i said ok next day he call saying they where discontinued keep in mind I already paid for 4 20" run flat an 4 new wheels i guess they get your money then tell you it discontinued so what i got is the same kind of wheels I already have on my camaro defeat the reason for ordering new wheels then the manger didn't want to refund me the difference telling me the the assistant manager was the one helping me an he is off today so I ask for there main office number which i still didn't get but he refunded what was supposed to be the difference in price he wouldn't show me the price of the wheels I will always tell people never go to discount tires i knew I should have just went back to Goodyear like I have before they cost more at Goodyear but you don't go through problems

I bought 4 tires from discount tire

I bought 4 tires from discount tire. They are 6 months old. I hit a rock on the interstate the size of a baseball and it shattered but the tire tore up. Their tires are not worth a darn. I will not buy another tire from discount tire.

Why do they bother with appointments

Why do they bother with appointments? Made 4:15 appt and they didn’t take it in until 5pm. Other customers who came after me were already getting in the bay. I complained- was told my 4 tire replacement required the 4 man crew that was busy. BS!

Went in for an alignment and was told I…

Went in for an alignment and was told I needed new tires because they were old witch was true so I bought 5 witch coast over 900.00 so after that they told me they wouldn't do the alignment until I paid 1800.00 in parts and labor they said ball joints and other parts needs replaced witch i new was a complete lie because I took the truck to my regular mechanic the day before and he said everything was fine so I told discount tire to write everything down that I needed and took that paper to my regular mechanic and he said there is nothing wrong and told me to go to a different shop for the alignment because my regular mechanic doesn't do alignments so I go home that day and I noticed they only gave me 4 of the 5 tires and had to go back the next day for the 5th tire and remind u I was there for 5 and a half hours just for tires. so I had to wait 2 weeks to get in the other shop so as the days pass buy I noticed my truck shaking when I go 60 and above so fast forward I'm at the other shop and have them look at everything and told them the truck was shaking come to find out it was because discount tire didn't balance the tires properly the tires was off by 3 ounces each. and this other shop also said nothing needed replaced to do the alignment

Nothing but Respect

First, I want to make it clear that negative reviews will always outnumber the positive. Also, the nature of franchises lends itself to inconsistency. For humans are inconsistent. A franchise is nothing but a brand. From my experience Discount Tire soars above any peer or competitor in their industry. I say this with authenticity. If one was too look at my Google reviews they would see how scathing or appreciative I can be. I'm undeniably aware of ANY dismissive attitudes or lack of conern/respect that an employee or business would try to exhibit my way.
The common decency of customer service in America no longer exists. This is why I feel that the men and women who are hired at Discount Tire are exceptional! Why do they stand out from 85% of the horrible experiences I endure on a daily basis with "customer servers"??? IDK? Probably based on their hiring principles.

Going here for 15 years is over

I have shopped discount tire direct for years. It was always a positive experience. I tried to order today and they told me I had to order from tire rack. Tire rack did not have same tire at same price. I ended up ordering at a local shop and saving 300$ discount tire must have sold out.

Will have to call them no more discount tire anymore!!!

Poor Resolution

We have had to drop our fleet account with Discount Tire, as every time we have purchased tires for our fleet, the tires bust bands, produce bubbles, or fail in some way within months and they refuse to fully stand behind their tires.

Not what they once were

My grandfather, myself, my father, my mother, my sister and brother-in-law have used Discount tire for 20+ years. Many cars with new sets of tires. They used to be fantastic. Reasonable prices on tires and warrantees along with free rotation and balance. The staff used to be great. I'd go in for a rotation and have a small wait, shorter than the wait now with an appointment. The staff is still pretty good but nothing like they were. I'm sure it all comes from the top. Sales are now becoming more important. Now they push windshield wipers everytime you go in. If you want to get a rotation it's always you have a long wait and if you set an appointment you don't get in and out like you used to just driving in. I was going on a trip and replaced my tires before I needed to per Discount. They barely gave me a discount. The next time I was right a replacement time for the front tires but had time left on the rear ones. I asked for a rotation so I could get just a little more time. The rep said they couldn't get it in and I could call for an appointment. It was obvious he knew Discount didn't want him to do the rotation. My brother in law had a tire torn and rim damaged on a $70k sports car. They replaced the tire and paid to repair the rim, but he had to spend another $500 for a new tire to match the one they damaged. I get Michelin tires for the ride and they are not cheap. I always have the warranty but now I'm here getting a rotation and am told I have no warranty. They found a nail in my tire and said no guaranty the tire could be repaired and I could buy the warranty for $182. The nail is in the tread on the face!!! This is an easy repair!!! When they were done they offered the warranty again. I told a different guy that I thought I had a warranty and he siad they would replace my tires for prorated cost. That's exactly the warranty I thought I had. He said for $182 I would get a brand new tire if they had to replace one. If that happens you will still have to purchase another brand new tire to match the one they replace.

Scammers

If I could rank Discount Tires in Suffolk, VA with a ZERO I certainly would. My son and I went in 2 weeks ago and received great service from a guy at the counter and we ordered 4 new wheels for his 2022 Durango. They arrived as anticipated and he made an appointment to have them placed on his vehicle. Upon arriving for his appointment the manager told him that he also needed new tires, which he knew to be inaccurate and told them to just put the wheels on and he would consider it at another time. The manager left and then returned stating that they would not place his current tires on his new wheels because the tread was so warn and again that he needed 4 new tires. He loaded up his new wheels into his vehicle and drove to the Dodge dealership where they evaluated his tires, found them to be in excellent condition and placed them on his new wheels. We have all of this well documented and I am going to make it a point to tell everyone that I know how you operate!
How many times have you scammed people into purchasing something that they did not need? We work for our hard earned money and you make yours by lying and cheating the people that walk through your door. You even took my son out to his vehicle and tried to convince him his tires needed to be replaced but he recognized your obvious lies and knew more than you gave hime credit for, your profile for someone that you could scam failed you this time! You should be ashamed of yourselves for lowering your moral values to lying and cheating to make a few extra dollars!
