Horribly designed website. Help answers are usually scant on help and useless. Website does not save entries as you go along in many areas. I was on Social Security and supposed to get my return for free, but they charged me $89.00 without any explanation. TOTAL SCAM OPERATION - STAY AWAY

Literally ignoring me after I said i want my money back after they brought up undisclosed charges. Stay away from them. They are horrible. Just ignore you and are incredibly rude.

I truly wish I had read the reviews about efile.com before filing any taxes with them. They shut down their website and does not allow anyone to access their account to see prior returns. I helped a friend file their return in 2022 and fast forward to 11/2024, my friend and her husband are trying to get approved for a mortgage before Christmas. Only to find out that a huge error is on the return showing Car and Truck expenses for one year to be $138K... That amount was NEVER entered on the return. Not sure if it was a glitch or something at the time. I have also read that the site was hacked during the 2022 tax return filing season but efile.com did not notify anyone of this hack. This erroneous amount shown on the return has a huge affect on the mortgage decision and efile.com has no way of allowing access to their account to file an amendment electronically. They initially lied about ever having an account with them until a copy of the confirmation email from the 2022 tax return was provided to them. Even then, they pretended as if they could not access any tax returns in their system. Efile.com should NOT be recommended by the IRS which is the way I learned about them. NEVER again!!

It's totally Scam. Initially said Free but they Charge $39 at the end of the filing and send a email that your return has been rejected not from efile "from IRS" due to not database updated. It's totally scam and now they deducted some amounts for different charges. efile.com is totally scam nothing more. Please stay away from that website.

They lost me at filing an extension for a tax return.

I got through the steps only to discover they charge close to $20. NOT WORTH IT. There are other online services that are free and fast.

Would have given zero stars: used the free service with ssi income only plus one irs small pmt and NO state taxes and at the end (which was laborious to get to) they wanted to charge me a $28 fee and a fee if I wanted to print it out. Forget them.

Do not use, they bump you up to deluxe without your knowledge. When you use a 50% off coupon, it shows up on the fee as 50% off, but when you receive your refund you get charged $78.98, that is NOT 50% off! CROOKED

$70 HIDDEN CHARGES
Hidden charges that don't show up until it's time to file. I was charged almost $70 for a simple file that should have been free!!!

Never use this business! This is totally a scam! They charge your credit card once you put your information there. They create random document without your permission, and charge you without your authorization. They won't refund. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!!!

If I could give you folks 0 then I surely would! Now, I was clear that I wanted to file for the prior year. I answered a few questions then on the following screen it stated for 2021. I discontinued and no refund was returned to me. I emailed you, detailing the situation and you have yet to refund me my payment. You expect $29.99 for absolutely nothing!!! And suddenly, there's a problem with my emails being sent to you, not one will go through. You must be blocking me! How dare you? Now, I am going to contact my credit card company, report you to the BBB, warn others about you and will NEVER do business with you, again!

I wish I could give them zero stars. I'm not mad that I'm getting a decreased amount. I'm not even upset about having to pay $45, I had lots of forms (3 different incomes, mortgage, student loans, etc). It is most common to file for free when all you have to enter is one W2. The part I'm mad about is, I found this website on the IRS web page. Why is the IRS telling people to use this service is unreliable? I have been waiting on my tax return for MONTHS! Now I find out I'm getting back THOUSANDS less than they told me. I'm not worried about the amount I'm getting back. I'm mad because it took so long to get my money.

e-file is a scam. I went through the who process of filing with them and was charged 28.00 for a emailed copy of my returns. I was sent an email the next day that irs had rejected my returns (but they still took 28.00 from my account), and when I tried to contact them, NO RESPONSE, but they still got my 28.00 payment. E-file is a scam and I will not ever get scammed by them again. Take these reviews serious. Efile is a big scam.

I wish I could give them ZERO stars. Like so many others, I wish I had looked at the reviews because I got scammed too. I am a senior on social security, file a simple 1040 return, and this company charged me $67, aka half my monthly good budget. Their response when I asked for a refund was it's already been filed, so no refund. DO NOT USE THIS SCAMMING COMPANY. The BBB needs to shut this company down. The are scamming people all day, every day.

I wish I would have read the reviews before I filed my taxes with efile.com. I made the mistake of filing on the day taxes were due along with everyone else. There must have been a glitch with their system and subsequently my tax return was screwed up resulting in giving me a refund 10 X's more than I am suppose to receive. I contacted someone at file.com by email since they don't list a phone number. Very frustrating because they keep telling me my taxes went through. Now I will get audited by the IRS and the State because my return is so messed up. I will never, ever use eFile.com again.

E File claimed their service is free. NOT FREE!!! Horrible customer service. I alerted my bank in case they try to electronically gets funds from my bank account.

This is NOT e-file.com where you file for free. This is efile.com where they bill you. BAIT AND SWITCH. USE THE DASH!

I went to this site after a postcard from IRS saying i could file for free here. When finished efile charged me $49. I had spent the hassle of preparing and had done my return on paper first. Just needed to file on line. Found a coupon and went ahead and paid because I needed to file to get my past stimulus check. Rejected by IRS. Everything correct but now I have to wait 2 weeks for the IRS to send something in the mail to verify it was me. IRS has everything it needs to do this. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They do not answer calls or emails. I could have gone in person , retired and could have had it send and not paid a dime.

Do not use it is a bait and switch you will be charged for service you do not need

This site is horrible!!! Hidden fees! I am single part time worker when I can. I spent a couple hours doing my taxes on this site. Then they going to charge me for deluxe version. There is nothing deluxe about my circumstances.I was naive and filed with them last year. I wasted of time with them this year before I found a site that cost nothing, and easier to understand. I think this site is a scam!

Paid for my "Efile" tax to be filed, it came back as "rejected" due to AGI or something. I COULD NOT get a response, a email, a phone call, NOTHING! But they took my $ fast enough! DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT even think about using this sham of a company! It may cost a little more, but stay away from these folks!!!! PLEASE!
