Disrespectful staff i called wondering…

Disrespectful staff i called wondering if they could send someone to fix my hot water and wanted to ask about the price and when I told them that Im not interested since the price was expensive and i could just wait out until my apartment maintenance to come in the woman on the phone said we’re a professional company and dont call again if you are not serious and hung up on me! Extremely disrespectful staff DO NOT RECOMMEND. Also the woman was disrespectful throughout the entire call she should get fired

AVOID. Feels like I dodged a massive scam.

They advertise a 30 mins call out. Two and a half hours later no plumber. Tried to call the original number but was repeatedly cut off. Started to feel uneasy about calling this firm and sent a WhatsApp message to cancel the appointment and immediately an aggressive Eastern European called saying the plumber would be there in 10 mins. Would not take no for an answer - really very pushy and aggressive so I felt this was a scam to get a plumber in your house and charge exorbitant rates. Confirmed that I wanted to cancel but remained aggressive saying again that the plumber would be there in 10 mins. Cancelled the call. Plumber still knocked the door 30 mins later. Told him that the appointment had been cancelled and he was also unprofessional.

Misleading emergency service preying on the elderly and vulnerable

I contacted this company for an emergency plumber for my father. Apparently they are run by a company registered in Ireland (Irish company number 663757) and the named director is a Ms Kirwan. The job was arranged via a call centre/website using names such as “Local Services 24H / Professionals 24 / Direct24”, so all very opaque but it was never made clear who the actual local plumbing company was. We were told the call‑out charge for the first hour would be £180, yet the plumber arrived, spent about 45 minutes on site, and then told my father to pay £280 by bank transfer on the spot. The plumber left without giving Dad an invoice or receipt. He removed the leaking pump and said he would return with a replacement pump with a copper casing, but he never came back and has not completed the work. No written quotation was given in advance and, importantly, no invoice or itemised receipt has ever been provided, even though the company’s own terms say technicians must give customers an invoice. Since then I have followed up six or seven times with “Local Services 24H / Professionals 24 / Direct24”. Each time I have been told they are “looking into it” and that management will contact me, but nobody ever does. I am frustrated and sad that cowboy companies like this are allowed to prey on the elderly and vulnerable in emergency situations. In my opinion this service fails to meet basic standards of clarity, honesty and documentation, and I would strongly advise others to avoid it.

Had an issue middle of the night with the hot water tank. Found the site at the top of google results. It had a number with my local area code. Called the number, and the guy says he will have someone with us in an hour, and the charge would be £264 just for the call-out.

I had a funny feeling about the call and checked the reviews. Call centre based in Egypt, cowboy workmen, overcharging, the works. At this point I try to call back to cancel.

My call goes straight to hold music after ringing once. I try again, withholding my number, it doesn’t even ring and the line disconnects. I try calling on my partners phone and, what a surprise, I get straight through!

I explain that I do not want the plumber anymore and I want to cancel the job. The guy says to leave it with him, he will contact the area manager and get it sorted. Fair enough.

I get a call from a woman 15 minutes later, this is while I’m still frantically searching for a legitimate business to sort the tank. I answer and she asks if I called to cancel a job. I say yes. She asks why. I say I no longer need the plumber. She gets extremely rude and starts pushing for why I don’t need them anymore.

Every time I try to speak after this she talks over me, extremely pushy, trying to make me feel guilty for cancelling the job, “It’s late and you booked the job, why did you cancel, it’s not fair.” She says they will send someone in 15 minutes. I attempt to tell her again that I don’t need the service anymore, she continues speaking over me, louder and louder. I eventually shout down the phone that if they send anyone I will call the police. She gives in at this point and says that no one will be sent and asks if I am confirming the cancellation of the job. I say yes, she says she cannot confirm cancellation. I repeat my line about the police and hang up.

It’s not very often I leave negative reviews, some businesses are better than others, I can deal with the usual nonsense, but this is a straight up scam aiming to overcharge people who find themselves in a situation like this out of hours and have few options.

Do not bother calling. After getting a temporary fix sorted for the tank, I stayed awake another hour in the middle of the night, wondering if they’d show up at the house anyway, they seemed that dodgy.

Absolutely disgusting service

Absolutely disgusting service. After reading the reviews about this company I changed my mind and tried calling after a few minutes to cancel the call out and was told by the person on the phone that I would still have to pay the call out fee and the call out would not be cancelled. I then said that I would not be handing over any money and this needs to be cancelled. Her response was, I don’t care, you still have to pay the fee. I felt that she was very aggressive and trying to use bullying tactics to try and make me pay. She actually said that she would keep ringing me until I paid the fee. What kind of company would talk to their customers this way?
I feel sorry for the engineers that work for this company. I’m sure they’d do a good job but I’m not going to be handing over any money to a company that talks to their customers in that way.

RIP OFF DO NOT USE!!!

Charged £370 to replace a double socket. Job took 40mins.
The engineer was wonderful and self employed but uses this company to get work, they see less than a third of what's paid but a third is better than nothing. I now have his own company details.

Don't blame the engineer just DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Called them out and was advised call out and 1st hour would be around £260
Accepted this as it was a Sunday and we were desperate

Job took just over an hour so was advised by the tradesman would have yo pay 1 and a half hours...

The half hour labour is half of the initial quoted price... I refused as I agree I should pay labour but not half the call out charge again....

Spoke to his manager.... or so they say.
Still awaiting a call back as he was going to speak to his manager..

My advise is stay clear even if it is and emergency...

And if you do reply u can stick you discount for another job as I would never use u again

Absolutely disgusting charges.

It seems Emergency Services 24 are now being sneaky by advertising in the name of Ben Plumbing and heating on Google with a mobile number advertising giving the impression the tradesman will be a one man band with reasonable rates - oh how I was wrong....

Called up, quoted £144 for an emergency call out charge which initially thought was fair. Plumber turned up, started working. He then called me saying it would take 2 hours so another hours charge will be added to the bill which I thought fair enough...

When the plumber finished, I was sent an invoice for £313; this was to change 2 radiator valves that were leaking!

I queried the cost of the 2nd hour and he said it was an additional £144; I was gobsmacked to say the least. I called up Emergency Services 24 to query the bill and a Lady in an indian call centre was quite rude and hung up on me.

The problem is, once a plumber has arrived and started the job it could take 2,3,4 or even 5 hours. As a remote landlord I was note made aware of this untill the end of the first hour whereby my tenant had no heating and water pipes exposed and not capped off. If i refused the additional work at £144 per hour would the plumber just walk away and leave it? The plumber should advise the price at the start of the job, not half way through. Even if it is half way through, a customer should not have to pay the same rate again as the call out charge should not be paid twice!

The plumber was a contractor who himself was polite but after searching his company on hamuch.com he only charges £39/hour which is the price I was sort of expecting for the hourly rate going forward after the initial hour which includes the call out charge.

Ben heating and plumbing on their google ads does not have a website and does not allow you to leave reviews; due diligence is definitely needed these days when requiring tradesman as it seems most people are being ripped off left, right and centre!

Very disapointed to say the least.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My dad called these people out (he is almost 84) and asked for a plumber to come out and fix his toilet. My dad stripped the toilet before the plumber arrived to make it easier for him. The plumber was there 10 minutes and fixed a tube that had come loose at the bottom. He then said to call back the agency (Emergency Services 24) to let them know it had been done and to tell them it only took 10 minutes or so. My dad was given an invoice and paid for this at a whopping cost of £349. The cost was broken down to Call out charge £49, Diagnostic and Inspection and Labour charged at £220 for 10 minutes work.

I did not know my dad was getting this done or we would have organised this ourselves. I feel he has been taken for a fool here and they totally used an 84 year old man. I intend to take this to trading standards to see what they can do. If there is anything else I can do or another idea to get my dad's money back I would be grateful.

These people should not be trading and to take advantage of elderly people who do not have much in the way of money as it is is absolutely disgusting!!!

Absolute Rip Off, Scam, Cheat

I initially hired them for a job, expecting a professional service. However, after they failed to resolve the issue properly, I contacted them for a follow-up. Instead of addressing the problem, they blocked my number and completely ignored my calls. When I tried calling from a different number, they answered immediately—clearly avoiding me rather than taking responsibility for their work.

This kind of dishonest and unprofessional behavior is completely unacceptable. If a tradesperson cannot stand by their work and communicate with their customers, they should not be in business. I am now considering filing a formal complaint with consumer protection authorities. Avoid at all costs!

Sent someone round this morning for a…

Sent someone round this morning for a leak under the floorboards ripped carpet up so far couldn't see anything so then said he had to leave and come back the next day or the following day at the latest. Charged £180 still got the leak. Phoned at 8pm to say he could come 4 days later. Thought we had phoned someone with years of experience to find it was this company. Will not be using again.

SCAMMER OF A COMPANY

SCAMMER OF A COMPANY. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS

was charged £180 for a plumber they sent out who was in there for 15 minutes and did not fix the issue.

i have been told that ‘MANAGEMENT WILL CALL YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE’ and this is back in December.

Whenever I call they hung up the phone.

They should not be trading as a company.

Worst company I dealt with

Complete rip-off merchants

Complete rip-off merchants - £528 for two hours of doing nothing and leaving job unresolved. No parts used and I had sorted half the half the diagnosis before they came. Once he found it was the boiler fuse tripping sockets, he spent over an hour in the garage where I could not see him. I had already told him I wanted to call British Gas but he then spent another 30 minutes doing nothing. He was very persistent with the payment and wanted it paid into his personal account ‘to avoid VAT’, but his spartan invoice does not show a VAT number or an address. All too convenient. Do not use them

Had to call out a plumber for my 74…

Had to call out a plumber for my 74 year old mother-in-law.
They charged £90 call out fee.
We tried to cancel due to insurance saying the cover would be invalid if someone else came (this was emergency as water coming through lounge roof).
I tried 30 times to contact them but they did not answer the phone.
Do not use these people they are a complete rip off.

Absolutely disgusting what these people do scamming vulnerable people charging people for a job they couldn’t even do. They turn up to advise they need a part then come back and that’s two call out charges guy there 15 minute couldn’t fix the problem and charged £430 do not waste your time and money here! Horrible scum of the earth charging people this amount to not fix the issue for them to laugh at you down the phone. These people no exactly what they are doing. AVOID.

DONT EVEN CONSIDER CALLING THIS COMPANY OUT.
They don’t turn up, they don’t allow you to talk on the phone, then they’ll argue the toss. Admittedly I should have read the reviews. These people will rip you off.

AVOID. Read my review. Scam company outsourcing call/looking to exploit vulnerable people

Avoid. Blocked toilet as put too much roll down it. Called and was told £40 call out and then engineer would check problems and provide a further quote. Agreed engineer to come within an hour. 2 hours later someone called and said they could have an engineer out in 30 mins for £180 (this was just for the call out).While on the phone someone else called from the company and said it would be £140 call out charge. I declined and queried whether this was the same company i’d already booked with hours before who hadn’t turned up, the advisor said this was the first time i had spoke to the company (i couldn’t confirm myself as had called around 50 plumbers at this point as it was our only toilet which was blocked). An engineer called next and said he had been booked. I said I was told he was coming hours earlier, and that at this rate I could sort it myself. He said he was an expert in the field (used the same script the people in the call centre had used) and that it was only £250 call out cost and then whatever on top of that for the work! Told him i’d sort it myself. He said he would call me back later and if I hadn’t sorted it, he would come out independently to fix it without the company taking a share so it was cheaper. Anyway, I sorted it. He called back hours later and I confirmed I’d sorted it myself. He confirmed the job was cancelled and was glad i’d sorted it. Next thing I know the company calls back with an attitude saying i’d cancelled the professional engineer and now risked missing the real cause of the problem, and wouldn’t i rather he still come to ensure the problem was fixed as I likely didn’t understand the severity of the issue/the issue was likely to cause further problems. I said no i sorted it myself and advised i’d already confirmed this with the engineer. The advisor then got angry and said i would still be charged for call out costs as i’d cancelled. She kept repeating “you are aware that you’re still going to be charged for this” to which I said I was not and had confined as such with the engineer. She then said “fine” and hung up. AVOID. All calls were from people with American accents (likely Belize) and were not local callers. I think more than likely a scam company outsourcing call centres abroad to scare elderly/vulnerable people into paying regardless of issue or if someone attends.Fortunately I work in law and had no issues disputing with the individuals who repeatedly tried to change their prices/tactics/methods to get my to pay.
