Misleading Estimate and Last-Minute Charges

Let me begin by noting that the initial phase of interaction was excellent. The team was responsive, courteous, and quick to act. Even throughout much of the process, I was genuinely impressed with the service provided.

However, the turning point was the sudden change in estimate and the manner in which it was handled. The original quotation, based on a virtual video survey, clearly stated 285 cubic feet as the estimated volume, with confirmation that it would not exceed this capacity. Midway through the packing, I was unexpectedly told that the volume had already exceeded 300 cubic feet. With everything already in motion for an international move, I was effectively put on the spot—as the packers indicated they would not proceed unless I agreed to the revised excess. Ultimately, this pushed the final volume to 350 cubic feet, far above the originally guaranteed estimate.

Additionally, during the initial discussions, it was clearly stated that a 55-inch television would be accommodated without any additional charge. Yet once the TV reached the warehouse, additional charges were brought up for both the TV and cartons. The TV carton charges, in particular, were first presented as an extra cost but later removed, posing as a favour to the customer—further reinforcing the impression of unfair and inconsistent business practices.

While I continue to appreciate the individuals I interacted with—who were professional in demeanour—the business practices appear misleading and coercive, placing customers under undue pressure with threats of additional port and storage costs if excess charges are not paid immediately.

Shankar and Anastasiya have been incredibly helpful and thoroughly explained the process from start to finish and have been very responsive and patient. Incredibly high level of service, all the way to the packing / moving team.

professional in shipping my boxes to Bahrain. The collection of my stuff from my storage unit went very smoothly. Shankar was able to resolve any issues I had with gaining entry and collecting my stuff from the unit. They took great care in packing the items and making sure to repack some of the boxes to safely ship them.

Shankar and Anastasiya have been professional and helpful in our shipping to Hong Kong. The lifts to my flat unexpectedly broke down the night before of the move. Shankar was accommodating and discussed options with me to try and resolve the issue. Eventually we rearranged the collection the next day. On the day of collection, the packing staffs arrived in time while giving advance notice. They took great care in packing the items and loading to the van.

So far we have had an excellent experience with Excess International Movers. It has been about 3 weeks since our items were packed and we just received notification that they will be coming into the port in 2 weeks, which is well above our expectations. Throughout the entire process Shankar and Anastayia were absolutely top tier to deal with. They are highly responsive and take the time to walk you through everything without feeling rushed. Their pricing is really competitive and for a move from the UK to the US they gave us the best rate by a landslide. Our packers Keon and Rob were also great - they were fast and efficient. I would 100% recommend using Excess for an international move.

I cannot rate Shankar Mirchandani and his team at Excess International high enough. We had complex moves and storage in London before final transfer to Sydney and at every stage we had professional, friendly help which took off a lot of the pressure. That continued here in Sydney where their choice of clearing house and local delivery, Conroy removals, continued the perfect service.

Shankar and team, including Anastasiya, were professional and helpful in accepting the task of receiving a piece of furniture for shipping to Australia. I knew nothing about the process and they really helped me. Thank you. Would use this company again.

I've used Excess 3 times within the UK for large moves, domestic and commercial. On all 3 occasions they were very reliable, and efficient, the movers have a willing attitude and 'get it done' approach. In terms of output for price Excess are the best I've used. I have used other services in this price range and had terrible experiences, I only use Excess now, domestic & commercial as I know what I'm going to get.
