Explora calls itself a luxury cruise…
Explora calls itself a luxury cruise line, but it's not.
Today we departed from Valletta Port. There were no Explora signs in the port, and no one knew where to board. The company itself didn't provide any instructions either. We spent an hour running from one end of the port to the other with our luggage. The app is completely useless, and we didn't receive any instructions by email.
Until we saw a tiny tent with two Explora employees (photo attached). They took our luggage and also didn't provide any instructions. We simply walked to the ship and walked to the local customs office, where we met another group of people who had no idea where to board. We ended up walking around the port for half an hour in the scorching sun until a policeman stopped us, and thanks to that, their transfer came to pick us up—an old, smelly, air-conditioned bus, where we had to stand (photo attached). Is this luxury?
When we arrived, check-in took a very long time—about 20 minutes—because we were assigned to an intern who, instead of scanning our passports, scanned our Schengen visas, and it returned an error.
We had no one to greet us, no one paid any attention to us, no one told us about the benefits of our "Platinum" package, which we received thanks to our status match with MSC. We don't even know what time breakfast or lunch starts.
Our suitcases were simply left at the door without a knock—this is 3-star hotel fare, not luxury.
Because of all this slow action, we were late for a proper lunch and were forced to eat food at the Explora Lounge - where the food is simply terrible, in the photo are rolls with rotten avocado.
While I was writing this, I discovered that all my restaurant reservations for the entire cruise had been cancelled... explora...
