A Disaster; Be Careful

My experience with Eyespecs.com was extremely poor, and I would not trust them with your eyewear.

The process took nearly three months from the time I sent in my glasses to the time I got them back, and I had no replacement during that period. Being without usable glasses for that long was highly disruptive. Worse, even after nearly three months, I still did not end up with usable replacement lenses and was left with my original lenses.

When the glasses were first returned, the condition of both the frames and the lenses was not what I had sent in. I did not send them in with a loose, unwearable temple, and I raised that issue immediately.

Although Eyespecs denies damaging the frames, their explanations regarding the lenses have been inconsistent. At one point, they admitted in writing that a machine slipped during the lens-cutting process and caused a scratch. More recently, they have claimed that there was no damage at all and that the issue was merely “polish” or a matter of “perspective.” Those positions cannot both be true. Eyespecs’ response is particularly troubling because it denies responsibility with one hand while admitting process-related damage with the other.

I also remain concerned that I did not receive the same Varilux lenses that had previously been in the frames. The lenses I received felt different in use and looked noticeably different in appearance. Whether Eyespecs insists otherwise or not, the result did not inspire confidence, and their response was defensive and dismissive rather than genuinely solution-oriented.

What is especially troubling is that, rather than fairly addressing my concerns, the company has suggested that I kept inventing new complaints. That is simply not true. My concerns were consistent from the start: damage during the process, the different lenses I received, the excessive delays, and the lack of a fair resolution.

When a customer entrusts a company with premium eyewear, they should be able to expect accuracy, care, and accountability. In my experience, Eyespecs.com failed on all three.

Ronald Giller, We thank you for your feedback. As from the moment you placed an order with us, we have assigned one of our professional team member to handle your order.

As an authorized dealer for all major brands and a professional in house-lab that handles hundredths of order daily, even for the glasses brand that you have sent us. We handled your order with care and gave you exactly what you have ordered.

Your initial complaint was because of luster polish that we added at no extra charge, to give your glasses and lenses a much nicer look than the unpolished lenses you originally had.

We offered to replace the lenses for you at no charge and remake the lenses without the polished edges.

You then looked for another reason stating that the lenses are thicker then your own. Upon calling you and suggesting you to take them to your local optical store to have the lenses measured in thickness so you can see for yourself. You insisted not to.

You then accused us by saying, how will you know if you would send us the glasses back to remove the polish edges, that we will not reuse the same lenses and just add a ruff polish to the edges.

We assured you that we cannot do that, and that you can scratch the lenses so you will know for sure we will replace the lenses for you.

You then looked for another reason by telling us that we damaged the temple of your glasses when they were in perfect condition, (If it was an issue we would have worked with the manufacturer to get you a replacement.)

On every reason you tried to accuse us of wrong doing, we tried to work with you and assure your satisfaction. Once you sent us back the glasses we removed the lenses and even sent you proof showing your original lenses were thicker then the ones you got from us at a fraction of a price.

You have never mentioned that you were concerned about the lenses, You ordered Varilux Physio W3+ which can be easily identified by the laser marking on each lens which is imbedded by laser from Essilor to identify authenticity and warranty. Upon request we can even provide you with a proof of receipt from Essilor showing your name and lens type in which we have provided.

We are very sorry as we always provide the best customer service possible rather than offering a some sort of discounts (which is not our business model) but instead provide the best customer service, frames warranty and lenses guarantee possible. We therefore then decided that no matter what we'll offer, you'll still be un satisfied.
