I also paid for a plus account in full…

I also paid for a plus account in full (£75) on the 7/4/2026. Emailed them several times with my CVS file from Etsy to transfer my listings to Folksy as part of the plus account agreement. Received no communication or transferred listings up to date. Cancelled my prescription and asked for a refund.I am still in my 14 day cooling off period. Again no communication about the refund or an actual refund received. Poor service, poor brand!

Thanks for your review - we’re sorry to hear this was your experience and wanted to provide a bit more context.

We did respond to each of your emails, and very quickly, but it seems our replies may not have reached you - possibly due to email filtering. They were all sent from support@folksy.co.uk, so it may be worth checking your junk or spam folder, as emails can sometimes end up there unexpectedly.

With your Etsy import, unfortunately the file you sent was in a Numbers format, which we’re not able to process. We did send instructions on how to export this as a CSV so we could upload your listings, but we didn’t receive an updated file to go ahead with.

Your account was then deleted shortly afterwards, which meant we couldn’t immediately locate it when your refund request came through. We’ve now been able to confirm everything and your £75 subscription has been fully refunded.

If you do decide to give Folksy another try in future, we’d be very happy to help you get set up properly.

Not for me..

Opened a Folksy shop this week and the process of starting the shop and adding products was extremely poor. The website glitched constantly and nothing ran smoothly, it felt half finished and unprofessional for example for me to pay my balance I had to log into PayPal, make a transfer then email them that I'd done it. There are plenty of modern payment systems out there. Very old school. I thought it could be a good alternative for Etsy but I think I'll stick to my Etsy shop with a smooth upload process, with tailoring to your products, good payment systems in place and a website that is modern, works and looks good.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience - and I’m really sorry to hear that getting started on Folksy felt frustrating. That’s not the first impression we want for new sellers, especially when you’re excited to open your shop.

The glitches you experienced during shop setup and product uploads aren’t typical, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating for you - so thank you for flagging it. We’re actually in the final stages of rolling out a new version of our product upload process, designed to make adding listings much quicker, more intuitive and reliable. Improvements like this are a big priority for us, especially for new sellers just getting started.

Just to clarify on the payment point: the PayPal transfer method you described is only used in specific situations - usually when an account is closed before a standard invoice has been generated. Under normal circumstances, payments are handled automatically through our system, so it shouldn’t feel manual or “old school.”

Where Folksy is different - and where many sellers choose us over larger marketplaces - is in the way we support independent makers. We’re focused purely on genuinely handmade work, which means less competition from mass-produced items and more chance for your products to stand out. We also offer a more personal, human approach, with hands-on support, seller promotion, and a strong community of makers behind you - rather than a one-size-fits-all platform.

Beautiful Gifts from Folksy

I have bought a few things from Folksy and they have all been lovely. I like handmade I think you get a much items, it has been my experience that the sellers go a bit further with packaging.

had a shop on here

had a shop on here, never sold anything but was accused by the company of selling items that I did not make despite me explaining that all my stuff is made to order and the majority of artwork was created by me. Threatened to suspend my listings if I did not 'prove' it.
Waste of time as they expect you to advertise your items yourself and little hance of having a good customer base

Our community is built around supporting makers who create original items, and our policies are in place to ensure all sellers and buyers can trust that the work for sale on our site is genuinely created by the seller.

In your case, we identified a couple of items that appeared to use designs widely available elsewhere, which our policy states is not allowed. We reached out to explain our rules and offered you the chance to provide evidence that your work met our standards, or to remove the items in question. We also clarified that there wasn’t an issue with the items of your own design.

We understand this process felt challenging, but it’s essential for maintaining the integrity of our marketplace.

A wonderful place for handmade creators

I recently started my shop on Folksy and I’m really impressed with how friendly and easy the platform is to use. Adding listings, creating collections and organising my shop was simple, even as a new seller.
I love that Folksy focuses on true handmade work — it feels like a supportive community for creators, not just another marketplace.
My shop views are growing every day and the whole experience has been very positive. A great place for small makers to share their work.

What's not to love?

Delighted at how quick and easy it is to use the interface for listing my map art sailboats. My Folksy storefront appears as I intend it to look, and it's easy to rearrange items in a different order.

When sending messages to Folksy it was a pleasant surprise to have replies from a UK-based team who respond promptly, rather than a 'shopbot' fronting an inaccessible team on another continent - it works brilliantly so please don't change this, Folksy team!

And the commission taken on sales is much lower than on the biggest marketplaces - another reason to be part of a small British marketplace.

A mixed bag

Easy to set up the shop.
Helpful advice when I encountered a problem.
Have sold some items that I didn't initiate any marketing for.
Not many people I speak to seem to have heard of Folksy.
Needs personal effort to do your own matketing, which is what I would like the site to do.
Not much traffic on the site.
Not clear whether stats are generated on one individual looking at all items or many individuals clicking separately.
Has been useful to raise money for charity but I would struggle to make a living here.

Folksy UK review

As a seller the Folksy UK site is easy to use. I have recently had my first sale the feedback from the customer was great. The only downside for me is that Folksy has suggested that I need to promote my items on social media. I am not a user of Instagram, Pinterest or social media platforms to do this I would need to be shown what to do, as that’s the way I learn. There is nothing in place for this. The question is will I make enough sales to cover my costs and fees?

Great UK based platform

I love to support UK businesses, and what greater way than selling on a UK platform. It's always good to get support from a person when you have an issue, and Folksy provide a friendly community.
