Motley Fool has provided unbiased advise for years. I don't always take their recommendations but they have made me a lot of money over the years. They have done me more good than all the bank and mutual fund advisors that I have had.
Be aware that they adhere to a long term investing strategy. If you're looking to make a quick buck from the markets this service is not for you (also, good luck in that endeavor too). I find the advice given is very detailed and thought provoking. I found the explanations and suggested hold times for the investments they propose has been sufficient for myself to make more money investing then I ever did while listening to the myriad noise from the Internet. By adjusting my mindset to adhere to a long term strategy while investing in solid companies and not being spooked by market swings, I have actually made money on their advice. I believe too many people are looking for quick cash via the markets. This isn't realistic, from what I've learned. I've been a member for over 5 years and plan on remaining since the advice and justifications provided for specific investments has been sound. All that being said, you probably don't need to buy ALL of their products to benefit from the knowledge they provide. They do love to push "new" services which, in my opinion, are based on FOMO trends. If you're able to identify a couple core investment services that they offer and stick with them you're return on investment will grow in proportion to the duration you're willing to wait before cashing out. You won't become rich overnight but you can become more wealthy in the long run. Hope this review helps.
I have never failed to make my subscription fee back on my first trade after renewal payment. No complaints, can always find a good buy somewhere each month.
stuned by other comments. always cooperative with membership, cancellation, reembursement when required, prompt to answer .
content : not great, just ok . few canadian recom ,average,or a bit outdated . too many americans, which are useless if you are also a usa member . not very active nor fast reacting to market or specific stock condition

I am happy with the service. I appreciate Ian Butler's down to earth approach/thinking.
Investing in the stock market is not for the quick rich mentality - it's looking for good companies and sticking with them for a few years. I also try to invest in ones I know, understand and/or use.
It is very unfortunate (for me at least) that the market has had such a huge downturn in the last 6 months, but I am optimistic that the companies I own will again increase in value.
I’ve been a Motley fool member for a number of years now, both as a subscriber to general services as well as portfolio services. I find that they provide sound advice and good company research. I haven’t found the portfolio services to provide good value for money, although I understand that they need to charge these higher prices to support the amount of research involved. It will be nice to see some services, in particular portfolio services, that are geared towards newer investors or people who don’t have a lot to invest but need some advice on how to get started. A lot of the videos I watch seem to be geared more towards banter between researchers rather than focussing on the needs of clients. I’d like to see more time addressed to client questions during these segments. Also, it would be nice to see some educational services on fundamental portfolio building; such as “how to build a diversified portfolio from scratch “. I think Motley fool provides a good service, however I only gave it three stars because I think there needs to be more focus on clients and different types of clients.
I have been a member of the Motley Fool services for 7 years. This is not a get rich quick scheme. They are the first to confirm this with the 'thoughtful ownership of quality companies' as a core philosophy.
Yes, there are buy and sell recommendations, but more importantly they offer a mentorship of thoughtful process.
Motley Fool gives outstanding recommendations if you plan to hold more than 15 Corporations for at least 3 to 7 years. They select companies that are likely to have growth potential for the long haul.
I am an Electronic Engineer and MBA. After over 55 years in the Market and a client of the Motley Fool since the early 1990, I found their approach to investing to be the best for success.
If you plan to use their service for short term trading and invest in the market as if it is a CASINO, these services are not for you.
Motley Fool services are for people planning to improve their financial future and optimize their investing success while minimizing their mistake because they will learn a mindset conductive for financial success.
No complaints. Learned a lot about investing using a patient, long-term strategy. I've done very well using this approach.
The Motley fool has been invaluable to me. I started blindly investing about 10 years ago. Motley Fool has put in the hard work to research companies for me. The markets are horrific at this time and it is troublesome. However I have reacted with emotion in the past and it has hurt me. I'm trying not to look on down days. If my history has taught me anything it is not to panic and see it through. The markets will rebound and I remain very satisfied with Motley Fools advice
I've been with Motley US & Canada for years. The services are good if sometimes a bit overwhelming and the constant bombardment to buy new services is really irritating. But the information and analysis is excellent. But this is not a get rich quick scheme so if you are planning on a lot of active trading it's not for you.
I don't understand all the negative reviews. I like the service and have taken their advice or concurrence on some of the stocks in my portfolio (BAM, BIP, CN, APL, etc) All I would like to see is more Cdn recommendations than one a month. It is relatively easy to block all the promotions and spam
Currently subscribe to Stock Advisor Canada (since 2015) , Dividend Investor (2017) and Hidden Gems (2020). These are all excellent value for money services for me.
I've also had Pro (until it was suspended), Blastoff and Rising stars. I cancelled Blastoff and Rising stars after trying them - these two just didn't meet my investing style but no fault of Motley Fool. The cancellation process for those services was very smooth and staff were quite courteous.
By using the info from the services and putting in the work, I've been able to achieve above average returns (and certainly better) returns than I would have been able to get myself.
This is a recommendation service. Smart people spend a great deal of time sorting through tens of thousands of companies to identify ones which are worth taking a look at to add to your portfolio. Then, it is up to you to investigate them to see if they fit your own investing style and preferences. I have found their recommendations to be worth the additional investigation, and many have been added to my portfolio with very positive results. Many, but of course not all, since they aren't me, but even the ones I haven't added have been worth watching.
Sometimes, but rarely, they recommend companies that don't pan out, but I have been a member of the basic services for five years, and I have added several of their specialty services over that time. I don't have time to search all the companies listed on exchanges in Canada and the US and elsewhere, but I do have a lot of time to investigate the ones MF recommends, because they are well-managed firms in important industries with great potential for creating value, for the world and for their investors.
If you don't want to do the work, just buy index funds and go do whatever it is you do. If you want to learn to be an investor without a bunch of wasted time, then I recommend this service highly.
I certainly will not renew my subscription. You are amateur stock pickers. The stocks you recommend they are very risky. High beta, negative cashflow, negative earnings and high P/E ratios with high debt. You pick high risk hi reward stocks. This is not investing ,this is gambling. Thank God I did not take your advise in the last 2 yrs. How can you call yourselves stock pickers.
I have used Motley Fool Stock Advisor service and a few other services like: Cloud Disruptors, Dividend Investor and 5G Supercycle. The recommendations have made money for me over the years. No complaints there. The only criticism I have is that there should be regular updates on what's happening with the recommended stocks after the initial information is posted. For example within Cloud Disruptors the recommendation for Zoom occurred in June, 2021 but there have been no updates on the company since then.
I have been a member of Motley Fool Canada for three years and while I haven't used the information to its fullest I have appreciated the insight into market trends, recommendations and updates. There are times when the emails seem abundant, once the marketting emails are removed the content is manageable.
Some good recommendations, some not so good. This is a service for people with a 3 to 5 year horizon to make money. I would rate them higher but for the constant upselling for "new" investment advice. It's like they have a pie that they want to slice thinner and sell it to you for more money.
Not a great service for the money. Most emails I receive are to purchase other services and really the stock advice has not been that great. Even before the crash of 22 most of the stock suggestions have been duds. Another huge issue is how well they've hidden the ability to cancel. Still searching. Luckily my credit card has now expired.
