Vouchers take time to 'arrive'
Bought 2 x voucher for my friends' birthday, which took 5 days to post?! Even though it could also be sent digitally? Why such a delay?!

Hi, thank you for your feedback.
As per the voucher listing and our website FAQs, our advertised dispatch day outside of core Christmas season is Wednesday, but you can request an electronic version earlier if you wish. Please see below for a reminder:
"When will my order arrive?
Outside of busy seasons (Christmas mainly) our delivery day is a Wednesday, so providing that the order is in before Tuesday evening and there are no postal issues, you should receive your order a maximum of a week after ordering, with most being delivered on a Thursday."

"Who delivers my order?
We currently use Royal Mail to try to guarantee an overnight delivery. The only exception to this is if your delivery address falls within Forage Box HQ’s local area, in which case it will be hand-delivered by one of the Forage Box team! If you need it sooner, we can arrange for your vouchers to be sent electronically (but the general feedback we receive is that people prefer a physical voucher)"
We are a small company so are restricted to when we can send orders out (we aren't a company like Amazon who have warehouses filled with staff who can dispatch an order in minutes) but do whatever we can to make our customers feel looked after. In this instance, it feels like we couldn't have done much more to inform you about your expected delivery time and you could have requested a digital copy, as per the FAQ above.
I would therefore kindly ask that you rethink your review, especially your star rating (which does so much damage to little businesses when it is not a 5 star one) in light of the above information, which would feel like fair and reasonable action to take considering the circumstances.
I hope your friend likes their gift. You'll be able to see from the vast, vast majority of the reviews on this platform that people tend to love their time with us.

My husband and I spent the morning…
My husband and I spent the morning foraging with Claire at cobtree manor. Clair was very knowledgeable and engaging. We've never foraged before and we have just been on an evening work and identified hawthorn, yarrow, sloes and elderberries. It was great fun! Highly recommend.

Booked a Forage and Feast experience…
Booked a Forage and Feast experience and was amazed about the variety of things that we found within a short distance of Keswick town centre.
Lots of deep knowledge shared by Tom and the gourmet packed lunches with added ingredients foraged and cooked on site was brilliant.

I have been part of a foraging…
I have been part of a foraging experience in the local area with Jim Parum. He showed great knowledge and made the foraging fun. He also gave a talk to a local group which was excellent. Jim is a great communicator and this, along with his enthusiasm for his subject, ensures an enjoyable, informative experience.

Feast Forage and a huge amount of Fun!
We’ve just finished our company away day forage and feast with the wonderful and knowledgeable Ed!! He really knew his stuff and his quirky funny sense of humour went down a treat. Forage Box Fun expoerience
We did the forage box experience as a works day out. This was very well organised and before the day i was sent information about what was required for the day including a kit list this was very helpful. It was an excellent experience (luckily it was sunny on the day). You meet at Brock Bottom in a lovely area next to the river. Jim who was the host for the afternoon was very good, extrenley knowledgable and very easy to talk to. It was a very interesting experience and getting to try different things was super and even had some wild snacks cooked for us. I highly recommend this day out lots of fun

From Woods to Plate: A Perfect Day!
We had an absolutely fantastic time with Forage Box. The day struck the perfect balance between being educational and genuinely fun, something that is not easy to get right. We have been on many days out in similar settings before, but this one really stood out as the best so far.
The passion and depth of knowledge were clear from the start, and it was a breath of fresh air to see someone who is not only so passionate about what they do but also truly accomplished at it. Every plant, every detail was shared with care and enthusiasm.
The little bite of wild food we were given at the end was so delicious that it left us wanting more. We have already booked a spot at the wild dinner event and we genuinely cannot wait.
Highly recommended for anyone curious about wild food, nature, or simply looking for a thoughtful and enriching day out.

I'll give it a star because it's the lowest but I would give it 0 stars. Appalling customer care. I bought a course but due to personal circumstances I was not able to attend. This 30 day refund policy is out of all proportion and on top of that, there is not way to contact them. They just don't reply. I went to their FB page to write a message and nothing. The emails are all noreply and there is no way to contact them. They've now sent an email cancelling this event and are offering a refund but there is no way to activate this refund. I've sent a message requesting this refund an I am unsure if they will ever reply. I've just made a big note not to ever buy a course from them and will discourage anyone I know who might.

Hello Florencia, I can assure you that we did receive all of your slightly abusive and anger-fuelled messages over the last 24 hours. Sorry for not replying sooner - your tone and anger didn't prompt me to reply instantly on my rare Saturday off, and thought it best that there was a cooling off period but you've coaxed me into replying on my one Sunday off this month instead. I would kindly ask that all of your future communication with us is a little more respectful please.
I'm not sure where you've been sending your other emails, but we do not have a 'no reply' email address. I'll be replying to one of your many emails shortly. You've said "there is no way to contact them" but by your own admission and actions, you've contacted us via Facebook, email and our website's contact form. One could also opt for Instagram to complete the set.
Our 30 day refund policy is very clear at the point of buying tickets and is perfectly reasonable, not to mention an industry standard. We pay our tutors per ticket sold, plus they spend a lot of time preparing food for their events, so a last-minute cancellation (as your request was - literally the day before your chosen event) would be grossly unfair on them. Whilst you have left us a pretty unfair and clearly angry public review, you did agree to the very clear booking terms when buying your tickets.
If you had bought a ticket to a different live event, concert or gig, there is absolutely no way you would expect a refund if you made the same request the day before. To expect one from a tiny company by comparison is pretty unreasonable and exactly why we have a very clear cancellation policy displayed on the event listing, our website and at the checkout - whether someone chooses to read it is not our responsibility.
I will ensure that your refund is processed accordingly. I would also kindly ask that, should you maybe show some introspection and graciousness, that you offer me a private apology via email (or any other form of contacting the business) for the incredibly rude, aggressive and unfair way you have dealt with your complaint.
Finally, you are more than welcome to join us again and would love to invite you along with anyone you know who might wish to join one of our amazing workshops in the future. Foraging is amazing for the planet, the palate and our health - it's a lovely calming activity to do and I find it puts me more at peace with the world when I'm feeling tense, angry or stressed.

Really enjoyable experience
Really enjoyable experience. Our host made sure everyone was engaged where they wanted to be and was really personable, answered everyone's question and included some really interesting personal anecdotes. We felt like we were in safe hands and we were very glad to be foraging around the Basecamp North Lakes as the day turned out very hot and sunny so easy access to the water stop and other facilities definitely made it a more comfortable event. Will definitely book for another workshop, they're great gifts as group activities. Thanks Jim!

Appalling Customer Service
Appalling customer service. We booked this for our family because our daughter has a strong interest in foraging, and is having mental health issues. This week, she sadly attempted to take her own life. Thankfully she is ok, but obviously not up to foraging, yet.
We explained this when we asked if we could come on a later date (we didn’t ask for a refund). A Family “Emergency” is just that - an emergency. It’s not possible to know of a Family Emergency 30 days in advance.
So today, my husband and other daughter are going to go on the event, while I stay home to ensure her safety.
No empathy or compassion or understanding or even a remote show of flexibility shown by Forage Box whatsoever.

I am terribly sorry to hear about your daughter. That sounds like a horrendous ordeal so I hope that all involved are coping ok. It must be some comfort that things aren't so bad that you could take the time to provide this detailed and public review, so that's at least something to cling onto in these challenging circumstances. Foraging is indeed something we champion as a way of improving one's mental health and wellbeing, so it is lovely to hear that your daughter has a growing interest in it, which will hopefully help in the long-run.
Before I address your feedback, and speaking from personal experience, I would strongly urge you to reconsider detailing your daughter's episode in such a public forum, especially with your own surname attached to it. For her dignity's sake, I would suggest you remove, amend or anonymise your words. It is evident that you are frustrated, but for her sake I think a little discretion on this matter would certainly help her.
We pride ourselves on our personable customer service, our human-to-human interaction (e.g. no automated AI responses) and compassionate approach when dealing with bookings. However, it is not our job to distinguish between what one person's family emergency and another - we were not provided with any further details and instead have to therefore refer to our very clear and fair refund/transfer policy that was agreed to when making your booking. Your request was made less than 24 hours before your event booking and your tutor would already have prepared your food, not to mention them then having to take a hit on the fee for the event as they are paid per ticket sold. It is my least favourite part of this job, but we do have to take all parties' interest into consideration when making these difficult decisions. Just in the same way that a multi-millionaire musical artist or national train company would have a policy they stick to were you unable to use your ticket with them, we have to draw a line somewhere.
We do sometimes offer a more flexible solution if an appeal has been made with a kind and polite explanation, but I'm afraid that is rarely the case when a public lashing out has been issued, especially one which perhaps might be considered unreasonable or unfair once the initial frustration of the unfolding scenario has had a chance to calm down.
I am glad to hear that your husband and other daughter made it to our workshop. No doubt they had a wonderful time and that this poor review is no reflection on that front.
Finally, I sincerely hope that your daughter finds solace. Mental health struggles can be ghastly, lonely experiences and she will need all the support she can get from her closest loved ones. Sending my best wishes for her long- and short-term recovery.

Very interesting and knowledgeable guide. Jim's overlap of experience with foraging and cooking made this a very rewarding experience. I'd really recommend it and plan to attend a future workshop in a different season.

Wasted my Bank Holiday and 4h
I bought a 2 hours taster foraging, emailed a few days early to check meeting point, didn’t get a reply. Received an email the day before that went in my spam, informing me the event had been cancelled. No what’s app or call to ensure I had received this last minute message.i drove 2 hours to get there, only to see the event cancelled on Eventbrite website when I arrived. A waste of a Bank holiday.

It is a tricky one because we do not collect the phone numbers of our guests so whatsapp is not possible, so we rely entirely on the emails we send out via Eventbrite - there's not much more we can do on that front but will take the feedback on board for the future. It is perhaps an irony of this whole situation that we cannot find any trace of an email thread from you (and we check our junk folders daily for this purpose) so perhaps you could send that over to us so we can double-check what might be going on?
