We found Four Oaks Builders via google and despite no personal recommendation, the reviews and photos of their work looked good, so we contacted Justin to quote for some work to open out some of our downstairs into a more usable sociable space.

The price Justin quoted was very competitive and they had a window where they could start work when was suitable to us so we agreed to go with them to get the work done.

I will say that budget was always a problem with our project and as such I was willing to do as much of the work myself to try and keep cost down. Justin was very good in this regard and kept the costs down and agreed a spec of work that I would be able to pick up once they had finished the main chunk required. Many builders don't seem to entertain the idea of not taking the project from start to finish but Justin and Four Oaks Builders were very flexible in this regard.

The agreed scope therefore was to remove an existing downstairs wall, install supporting steels, plaster finish and importantly keep the work in line with making a potential future extension easier if / when it came to it.

Justin's experience in the industry was very useful as he recommended taking a different route with the steel work that we had previously been advised on (by another company), he then went out of his way to liaise with a structural engineer to get some new drawings and calcs done to support his idea, saving quite a sum in the long run.

Despite some hiccups along the way (mainly due to our house being old and throwing up a few surprises) Justin and his team completed the project in a timely manor while ensuring a keen attention to detail and delivering a very clean final product.

I might also add that while building work is inherently a very messy business, Justin's team kept the house very neat and tidy in the areas where they were operating, hugely beneficial when you consider that our family we're living at the house while the work was undertaken.

I can also testify that Justin is a very honest individual, he could have made extra money here and there from the job, but always had frank conversations about options and costs before we committed to anything.

We are still in the process of finishing things up from our point of view, but we're really happy with the quality of work Four Oaks Builders did and it has made our follow up work all the easier.

I hired this company to carry out building and landscaping works at my home for an agreed price of £34,805, of which I paid £32,075. The work was not completed, and I was left with a number of issues that caused concern.

I raised these concerns during the project, but unfortunately the situation was not resolved, and I eventually had to stop the works and seek independent advice. I have since instructed others to make the property safe and begin corrective work.

This review reflects my personal experience as a customer. I hope it helps others make an informed decision.

My review reflects my genuine experience of the service received and the condition in which the works were left. I will amend or update this review once the dispute is concluded, if appropriate.

Thank You Justin and the team for doing a great job. I was first introduced after they did an excellent job on my Mom's house a few years ago. I am not very trusting when it comes to builder's, but because they did a good job and Justin is a man of good character after I met him, I trusted him and he also did an excellent job on my house with a two story extension.
