Absolutely disgraceful experience at FUNDA Holiday Club – discriminatory and deeply upsetting
I’m extremely disappointed and upset by the way FUNDA Holiday Club treated me and my 4-year-old daughter recently. My eldest child, who is nearly 9, was enrolled in the holiday club, and naturally, her younger sister — who attends Bamford Academy — wanted to join her. However, FUNDA outright refused to allow my 4-year-old to attend, despite the fact that she is of school age and attends the same school as her sister.
What made this situation even more frustrating and confusing was that when I came to drop off my eldest, I saw another child at the club who couldn’t have been older than 3. How is it acceptable to let some children that young attend while turning others away? It felt deeply unfair and discriminatory.
The way I was spoken by Olivia to when I raised this issue was completely unprofessional and dismissive. No empathy, no understanding — just a cold refusal. My daughter was heartbroken and cried uncontrollably when she realised she wasn’t allowed to stay with her sister. It was absolutely heartbreaking as a parent to see.
I expected a child-focused organisation to show compassion and consistency, but unfortunately, that was not my experience. I left feeling disrespected and completely dissatisfied.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your disappointment — we know how much children want to spend time with their siblings during the holidays, and we appreciate how upsetting this must have been for you and your daughter.
We’d like to reassure you that our decision was based on Ofsted regulations, which require children to have started Reception to attend holiday childcare provision. While your daughter attends nursery at Bamford Academy, she will officially be of school age from September, meaning she wasn’t eligible to join our holiday camp on this occasion.
We’ve tried to reach out to you directly to talk through your concerns, and we’re pleased to see that your eldest daughter has continued to enjoy attending our provision. Feedback from our team and our on-site Quality Assurance visits shows she’s had a fantastic time taking part in camp activities.
If there are ever any underage children on camp (due to parents not being honest about their age), they will be removed from camp until they are of school age, in line with Ofsted guidelines. This is part of our safeguarding commitment to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and correct supervision of all children.
We understand your review was written before we had a chance to connect, and it contains some information that we believe may not reflect the situation accurately. If you feel able, we’d be grateful if you could update it to include these details so other parents can have a clear and accurate picture.

FUNDA Childcare has been an amazing…
FUNDA Childcare has been an amazing experience for my children. The staff are absolutely lovely—so friendly, bubbly, and welcoming. The man running it is incredibly helpful and always goes above and beyond.
As a parent, it means a lot to know that my children are safe, well cared for, and never judged. I have one child with allergies and another with ADHD, and the team has always been understanding and supportive. They’ve been particularly helpful with my youngest, who has ongoing medical issues and frequent dietary changes, ensuring they are accommodated every step of the way.
Most importantly, my kids love it! They’re always excited to go back, which speaks volumes about the positive and fun environment FUNDA provides. I can't recommend them enough!

Best holiday club ever
We used this holiday club for the first time in February half term and I was very nervous as I am leaving my daughter in a new place new people well that was soon squashed staff are brilliant and my daughter loved every minute of it her words best week ever and was so sad when it was the end of the week. All the activities they do with the children are just brilliant and we can wait to return in Easter.

My little girl loves Funda, it's so much fun for her
My little girl is 4 and it's her first year at school so I was a bit worried about her going to the before and after school club and holiday club thinking she may not like it without all her friends there. I needn't have worried, she loves Funda. They do so many different activities to keep her occupied and all of the coaches are so good with the kids.
The only thing I would say is it should be made more clear on holiday clubs that no food is included. When booking through the booking system it didn't mention food so I wrongly assumed it would be included and then had to sort out a packed lunch when they rang to say she didn't have any lunch with her. It could just be me but i didn't see anything on the booking saying to bring their own lunch and snacks.

My son has been attending Funda for the past 4years. He loves it! Mum guilt is real and having a busy work life, I rely on Funda. My son never complains and always attends with a smile on his face. We use wraparound as well as holiday club. The staff are great and supportive. It’s so easy to book, even in an emergency with last minute bookings available. I haven’t got a single complaint! The team and the service run smoothly without fail and I’d be lost without them!

Summer camp
I have previously booked my kids in the Funda summer camp, and will be doing do this year. They have loads of fun and stay active, rather than sitting at home on electronics all day.

Fun and active holiday club
My 5 year old daughter has tried another holiday club in the area but didn't really enjoy it, too much "free play" and the pick up time was quite early for a working parent in a 9-5. Time for a change. So glad we found FUNDA. She was nervous to start with but was grinning from ear to ear when we picked her up. Yes it is a little more expensive however more than worth it with longer availability, and the range of activities available through the day. They definitely keep the kids busy, engaged and active for the whole day. Which is exactly what we want. She has the best time at holiday club and asks if she will be going back at the next break. This speaks volumes and is the best positive review you'll get!!!

A great holiday club
My daughter went to FUNDA Holiday Club for the first time in February half term. She’s not keen on being left at clubs during holidays but we had a voucher and it was at her school so she wanted to give it a go for a day. A day turned into two and she didn’t want to come home when we picked up! She had lots of fun. There was loads to do - short burst activities that kept her entertained all day and there was a bouncy castle. She felt safe and was well looked after.
Definitely booking for Easter.

The staff are brilliant!
Honestly, I can’t recommend FUNDA enough! My boy absolutely loves it! He attends the wrap around care after school, and we have just booked on the holiday club because he enjoys his Funda sessions so much. He always come home full of energy and excitement (and thankfully, ready for bed!).
The staff are brilliant — super friendly and you can tell they genuinely care about making sure the kids have an amazing time. There’s always something fun and creative going on, and I love that they’re staying active and learning without even realising it.
It’s such a relief knowing my child is in safe hands, having a blast, and building confidence all at the same time.
The app is really easy to use and you can also use your tax free childcare account to pay.
They also ensure your child is collected by who you authorise... and nobody else. Which is really reassuring.

Preston funds nightmare
My children attended for funda for a few years without any issues or concerns. Last year was fine until the key person my children knew left for holidays and different staff took over. Different children were also in attendance who started picking on my eldest child. My child complained to these people who then singled him out as the problem instead and excluded him because my child questioned them when they failed to protect him and manage the problem children. They also left the children to play without supervision which led to him getting more physical issues from these children when there was supposed to be a clear structure for that day. Not only did this emotionally affect my child, but did create problems in arranging additional childcare and we lost the money we had paid upfront for childcare we did not get from them and poor service from unqualified staff brought in at short notice who did not know what they were doing despite what the website states. When you do a sh*t job looking after my children, you never get my business ever again.

We take all concerns and incidents very seriously, and every incident is carefully logged and monitored on our Procare Connect app. This allows our management team to review behavior, track concerns, and ensure that all children are safeguarded while attending our holiday camps.
Our traffic light behavior system is in place to help manage group dynamics fairly, ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, and included. Our team is trained to mediate situations, support children through challenges, and reinforce positive behavior, always putting the well-being of the group first.
We want to assure you that children are never left unsupervised at any time while attending FUNDA. Our staff are always monitoring the children, except when they are using the toilet, to ensure their safety and well-being. While we understand that staff may not see every single interaction as they may be momentarily occupied, they are consistently present and actively supervising all activities to maintain a safe and structured environment.
We understand how important consistency and familiarity are for children, and we appreciate that changes in staff or new attendees can sometimes present challenges. However, our team works hard to uphold FUNDA’s high standards of supervision, engagement, and structure to ensure every child has the best experience possible.

My 8 year old is very nervous and worried about holiday clubs. He has tried a few now but when he tried funda in February he came home so happy and asking to go more days than needed. The staff really are great with him.

Not inclusive for all
States they are inclusive, offer breaktime which yes it is good that they do, compared to most places howevever, it is not inclusive and I dont believe they should be allowed to say they are.

At FUNDA, we are always working to improve our service, and since your child attended, we have made important changes to our Breaktime registration process. Parents now complete a Breaktime Registration Form, and our Breaktime team carefully assesses each application to ensure that our provision is the right fit for every child before they attend. This helps us make sure that every child has the best possible experience at FUNDA.
If we find that our provision may not be the right fit, we do our best to signpost and support parents and children by working with other providers who may be better suited to meet their specific needs. We believe that every child deserves a space where they can thrive, feel supported, and enjoy their time.
We truly strive to be as inclusive as possible and work closely with Lancashire County Council and the Breaktime team to support children in our care. However, due to the nature of holiday camps, we acknowledge that we may not always be the perfect fit for every child.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it plays a key role in helping us grow and improve. If you’d like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. 🧡
