I was contacted by Gambit toward the end of last year regarding an assessment of my property. Although I had already arranged for another company to carry out the work, Gambit assured me they could attend sooner, begin work promptly, and offer me more than the alternative provider. I was initially offered wall insulation and loft insulation and was informed that funding for heat pumps and solar panels was expected to be approved by January. On this basis, I agreed to proceed with Gambit.

John and Jess, who conducted the initial assessment, were professional, responsive, and appeared genuinely keen to help. Unfortunately, the standard of work that followed did not reflect their professionalism.

A team of builders from Blackburn attended my home. While they were personable, their work was chaotic, noisy, and ultimately extremely poor in quality. One builder disclosed personal health issues and used this to pressure me into agreeing to certain decisions. Throughout the process, my home was left in a state of disarray. Dust sheets were not consistently used, plaster and debris were left throughout my property, and my furniture and flooring were left dirty and damaged. My 1930s wooden window sills were covered with plastic fascia boards which were poorly attached and now move easily. My vacuum cleaner was broken during the works, and on one occasion, the builders left with my step ladder and bucket.

As the work progressed, corners were repeatedly cut. Shortly before Christmas, I was pressured into confirming satisfaction with the work over the phone with the builder’s manager, despite my house being visibly unfinished, with plaster and spray foam left on carpets and laminate flooring, and mess left outside my front door. During this call, I could also hear the builder’s boss speaking disrespectfully about me in the background. Feeling uncomfortable and outnumbered—being home alone with three builders—I agreed to the completion, although I was far from satisfied. Subsequent visitors, including an electrician and plumber, also commented on the poor workmanship.

To their credit, when I contacted Jess and John, they did attempt to address some of the issues. They provided a replacement vacuum, organised hiring a carpet cleaner (though I had to do the cleaning myself), and arranged for an independent assessment of the work. They also organised a new radiator, as the original was too heavy for the poorly installed new walls. Independent tradespeople—a plumber, plasterer, and joiner—were brought in to rectify some of the issues, and all of them expressed concern at the substandard quality of the original work. The joiner specifically noted the poor condition of the window sills and stated he had wanted to replace them properly, but was instructed by Gambit to continue using the inadequate plastic fascia boards. I have pictures and videos of all this poor quality work and mess.

In January, I contacted Jess regarding the promised heat pump and solar panels. I was told the funding had still not been approved and that they were now expecting March. I was also informed that the insulation work had not been processed so that my energy rating would remain low enough to qualify for the additional measures. Despite several follow-ups, I received only vague updates, and it became increasingly clear that the funding excuse was being used repeatedly. This is particularly concerning as other customer reviews reference receiving heat pumps and solar panels around the same period.

Gambit has now stopped responding to my calls and emails entirely. As a result, the work originally promised has not been delivered, and because the insulation was carried out so poorly and not processed correctly, I am now ineligible to apply for further improvements through other companies. I deeply regret not proceeding with the original company, as Gambit has proven unreliable and unprofessional. After raising legitimate complaints about the workmanship, I was effectively ignored.

My window sills remain in poor condition, and although some plastering has been tidied up, it is still not to an acceptable standard. Overall, I cannot recommend this company. The workmanship was substandard, the customer service has been extremely poor, and the promises made have not been honoured. I feel let down, disrespected, and left with a house that is still not properly repaired and no access to the improvements I was assured I would receive.

It started with a visit from an energy advisor John, it was clear he knew what he was talking about ( a bit sneaky really I used to be in this business a long time ago ) he was honest and professional, listened to all I needed and came up with the right solutions. Once we decided to use Gambit everything went really smoothly, the engineers where all very professional, what a team they really know their stuff, the back office service from Sally and Jess was precise and professional also. One of their fitters Tom went totally above and beyond looking at ways of fitting pipes to save disruption as best as possible so they needed very little boxing in, I can honestly say that after working with good heating engineers in the past this outfit far exceeded my expectations (which are very high) and without any hesitation at all I would highly recommend Gambit and the team to anyone thinking of using their services - it is a shame I can only give 5 stars they all deserve so much more. A HUGE WELL DONE GUYS ! THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Superb help and sere all round. Also, lads who work for/with them were sound as could be. Theydid a top job. They cleaned up all and any mess too. So, thanks to them lot.

Fantastic job

We changed our old boiler out for a new air source heat pump. Jess, sally and the full gambit team were nothing short of amazing. They explained everything the whole way and we are so so impressed with our new heating system!!

We had gambit energy replace our old gas boiler with a new air source heat pump, solar panels and a battery. From first contact with them to handover everyone there was amazing and we are so happy and impressed with our new setup. We no longer need gas in the house and our bills are next to nothing. The air source heat pump has blown away any expectations we had, our house has never been so warm and conformable and cheap to rub!

Our house was a challenge under the ECO4 grant to say the least, but John and the rest of the Gambit team worked their socks off with surveys, then installing solar panels, new rads, and heat pumps paraphernalia. They were all trustworthy and friendly and they needed the run of the house for a few days over 3 separate weeks while the work was undertaken, so we feel like we got to know them. It took time for me to understand the new heating system but we are definitely seeing the benefits.

I had Gambit Energy install a heat pump at my home in Liverpool, and I’m really happy with the service. The team was very friendly and easy to talk to. They explained how the heat pump works and why it would be good for my home.

The best part was how quickly they did the job. They worked fast but still made sure everything was done properly. I was surprised by how smoothly it all went.

If you're in Liverpool and need energy work done, I definitely recommend Gambit Energy. They did a great job, and their service was excellent.

Great job, bills have decreased.
We had Gambit out to install air-source heat pumps and it's made the biggest difference to our bills over this winter! house is lovely and warm and the bills have been the best we've seem in years. Couldn't recommend them enough! Plus the team were great who installed them, as well as Jess and Sally over the phone
