I was waiting for the last breath of life in my old gas hob, but eventually gave up on the stubborn beast and bought a new one. Gassafetymanchester and their fitter came, on time, and without any hassle.
I was worried that the new hob, being larger than the old one, might not fit in the stone worktop. The fitter expertly removed the old beast, did some calculations, and said don't worry.
He not only fixed the new one, where necessary cut additional piping, but also checked my gas supply for leakage.
And then there were two moments of truth: 1) will the new hob live up to my expectations, and 2) most importantly to those of my wife, who was away at the time.
I was thrilled to see all the flames coming out of where they should be, unlike my old beast. But then the wife came home today. She approved it with a big thumbs up. Hopefully she will cook a bit more now than she has been doing.
