Extorting cash

Plumber only just left. Only contracting for Great britain Services Ltd. I hope the replacement of the £25 part on my boiler which came up to a total of £459 actually fixes up the issue. I was forced to accept T&Cs on the fly as well as pay the invoice before the plumber left my house. Unbelievable practices. How can this business continue to freely operate? Absolutely kicking myself for having felt for it.

Predatory, Dangerous and Useless

Called in an emergency because they came up as local to me.

Opaque and predatory pricing and the plumber was unable to identify where the leak was coming from. But made a wonderful mess that I've now had two tradesmen (including one from my home insurer) laugh at for being so poor.

Additionally, the property was built prior to the asbestos ban. This plumber did not check this with me, despite the obviously textured ceilings. Not only did he choose to pull half the ceiling down rather than create the standard inspection holes, but in doing this damage instead has potentially spread asbestos across the entire kitchen-diner.

Plumber warned me he would need to break the cistern of the toilet to check if this was causing the leak because the screws were corroded and he'd need to cut them. This was a lie; the screws are not corroded and the head is not stripped. Homeserve had these out in moments using a screwdriver and were able to move the toilet without causing any damage.

Even their 'report' - a handful of notes - were poor.

Plumber 'couldn't' leave until he'd taken a photo that the invoice had been paid!

Scam, avoid at all costs.

I strongly advise everyone to avoid…

I strongly advise everyone to avoid this company. They are not transparent about their pricing until they are already in your home.

First, they charge a £49 "call-out fee" just to show up. In my opinion, coming to a home to give a quote for a job should be free, but they charge you just for the privilege of them entering your house.

Worse, they hide their hourly rate of £180 per hour. I was shocked to find out that working for only 20 minutes is charged as a full hour. To top it off, while their "Administrative Charge" is listed as 0.01 on some paperwork, they are actually charging a total of £302.28 (combining the call-out and the massive hourly rate).

This feels like a total scam. They wait until they are in your home to hit you with these prices. Extremely disappointed—save your money and call a local, honest plumber instead.

Used Great British Services for a…

Used Great British Services for a Saniflo issue via their plumbing arm, Plumbing Immediately. They claim to be Saniflo specialists. They are not.

The engineer didn't open the unit. Didn't inspect it. Declared it beyond repair on sight alone, then made it worse by sucking additional waste into the pump.

Pricing is deliberately opaque. They'll quote you £79 for a call-out over the phone but won't disclose the hourly rate until the engineer is at your door. I asked directly whether booking same-day vs next-day would cost more. Was told no. That was a lie.

Promised a callback the next day. Never heard from them.

A certified Saniflo engineer came the following day, opened the unit, and fixed it in 20 minutes. It was never broken.

Misleading pricing, fabricated expertise, no diagnosis, damage to my property, and a customer service team that disappears the moment something goes wrong. Avoid both brands.

My elderly parent has just been scammed…

My elderly parent has just been scammed by these people for over £2000. With a callout rate of £350 per hour which is unheard of. They have also left the house with their bank details. How can we get this company stopped? Great Britain services you have been reported for fraud.

SCAM and LIARS - DO NOT USE

This company is a SCAM and should have no stars! The whole set up is designed to take advantage of people in crisis. £2550 for five hours of doing almost nothing. i even think he created half the problem to increase the job. The advice given was incorrect saying that it would be covered by insurance WHICH IT WAS NOT. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES USE THESE PEOPLE

One star is too good for this horrific…

One star is too good for this horrific company.

We had booked them to come and jet a blocked outside drain and was promised the guy would come with a jet.

He arrived 2 hours late and no jet only a useless vet vacuum. They then billed us nearly £500 for a job not done and when questioned refused to leave and got aggressive with my husband.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Absolutely useless excuses for plumbers who scam the public!!!!!

Had the guy come out for basic plumbing…

Had the guy come out for basic plumbing job. Took them 2 hours to fix the toilet and they reassured me whatever they did would cause no damage to the pipes in our old building . The invoice was over £800 shockingly they mentioned the way to pay less was cash so£600. Days later the school which occupied the basement of the building was flooded with s..t. Pipes were blown out... Do not use them!

Totally shocking behaviour

Totally shocking behaviour. Avoid at all costs. Went to make a repair at my 91 year old mother’s house. He was there for 15 minutes and tried to invoice her for nearly £ 500. Threatening behaviour and refused to leave the house until they were paid. I told them on the phone this was harassment and illegal. They then threatened to undo the work they had done and left the front door open when leaving. I complained to head office ( note no phone number on the invoices) and after a heated conversation they reduced to £250. Still too much, This is a scam company don’t use.

SHOCKING EXPERIENCE...RIP-OFF...DON`T USE

Shocking, rip-off experience.
75 minutes and £603 to diagnose the macerator needs replacing.
Pressurised into signing contract immediately and engineer refused to leave house until payment was made.
A disgrace and should not be allowed to trade.

I paid £300 for an emergency call-out…

I paid £300 for an emergency call-out arranged through Plumbing Immediately. The engineer from Ninja Boiler Replacement & Repair Ltd attended for around 30 seconds, said the gas meter was faulty and left. No diagnostic work was done.

The next day my gas supplier confirmed the meter was not faulty and restored heating in seconds with a reset.

When I requested a refund, my calls were hung up and I received hostile messages accusing me of sending a threatening email after I followed Citizens Advice guidance.

I have reported the matter to Trading Standards, as I have now seen other customers describe similar issues with Plumbing Immediately/Great Britain Services Ltd.

Avoid at all costs — dishonest and coercive

We contacted Plumber Immediately for a simple boiler pressure problem. On the phone, they ONLY mentioned a £69 call-out fee — nothing about their shocking £249 per hour labour charge or hidden admin fees.

The engineer from Great Britain Services Group arrived and immediately started dismantling parts without any diagnosis or consent. He insisted the boiler filter was broken, which made no sense for a pressure issue.
When we asked for pricing before he continued, he avoided every question.

Only after he had already begun the work, he sent a contract to my wife and pressurised her to accept it instantly. She was alone and felt intimidated with work already underway, so she felt she had no real choice but to agree.

He kept telling us we could claim everything on insurance — clearly to inflate the job. He replaced a filter that normally costs about £170 but billed us £450 for the part alone. He still refused to explain the total cost until the end. The final invoice was £1,753 for a simple boiler pressure issue. Then he refused to leave our home until payment was made immediately. My wife was scared — we paid purely for safety, as the situation felt threatening.

This company’s behaviour was:
1. Deceptive (hiding true pricing)
2. Pushy and aggressive
3. Forcing immediate contract acceptance under pressure
4. Inflating prices and exploiting insurance
5. Using intimidation to secure payment

This was a coerced and frightening experience, not a professional service. Please avoid this company entirely — their approach feels predatory and unethical.

BEWARE! This company is a SCAM.

£79 for call out, £120 for diagnostic tests that comes with extortionate verbal quote and plans of replacing parts unnecessarily and mind you, there is also an ADMIN FEE!
Plumber charging £400 per hour!

Adam the plumber

Adam, a plumber from Great Britain Services Ltd, came to fix our boiler 02/11/2025. He mentioned that the boiler needed proper repairs because the pressure wasn’t working correctly and asked for £450 upfront to purchase parts, which I paid. Later that evening, he sent me an inappropriate photo, which left me very disturbed. He apologised and offered to replace the part for free, but I told him it wasn’t necessary since the boiler was working and asked for a refund instead. He agreed but didn’t return the money by the end of the week. When I followed up, he suggested replacing the entire boiler for an additional £550. I declined and reiterated that I only wanted my refund. After another delay, I told him to complete the original work if he couldn’t refund me. He then claimed that he cannot guarantee the boiler would work if he only changed the parts and insisted on replacing the whole boiler for extra payment. At that point, I told him I no longer wanted his services because I didn’t trust him. Regardless of whether I recover my money, I want to report him so he doesn’t treat others this way.
