For me the best of GoEast was the availability to tailor a journey for me. I had previous knowledge, but I wanted to review everything, also I'm really busy with work so studying is an after thought (Which I'm really not proud of). But knowing that and by creating a meaningful bond, my teacher, Olive Gou, helps me fully understand the lessons and concepts beyond the lessons, such as culture and way of thinking.

The school was recommended to me by my son who attended classes several years ago. I was very pleased with all of the instructors, the combination of individual classes and group classes! The material and lessons were well thought and relevant for daily life. I also enjoyed the summary of my private classes which enabled me to review the topics after class and even now after several weeks. Location at changle road campus was also excellent. I will be very pleased to come back to this school when the opportunity arises.

I started learning Chinese with GoEast in April 2025, when I was staying in China with my dad who lives there. I used to never really care about learning the language, but once I started, I got hooked. I’d study Chinese in the mornings and work on my PhD thesis in the afternoons. It became part of my daily routine.

Since then, I’ve kept taking classes online while moving around: one month in Argentina, a couple in Europe, and now living in New York. I’ve even gone back to China twice, and it’s been super easy to switch between in-person and online classes without missing a beat.

The teachers at GoEast are fantastic. They are patient, fun, and truly dedicated to helping you improve. And the fact that I could keep learning seamlessly through all these moves and time zones is entirely thanks to YanYan, who organizes my classes. She’s been incredibly flexible, supportive, and motivating; always helping me adapt my schedule and solve any issues that came up. Thanks to her, I never lost momentum and actually wanted to keep going.

Even my dad got inspired and started learning Chinese too, and he’s really excited about it! GoEast also organized introductory lessons for my sister and my girlfriend so they could experience what it’s like to learn this language, such a nice personal touch that made it even more special.

GoEast is just a great place to learn Mandarin, wherever you are in the world.

Currently taking the Integrated Chinese class and I must say the material, teaching method, and learning environment has been great. Learning here has really given me a confidence boost in speaking Mandarin more. The staff are also all so friendly and helpful, and the overall vibe is chill. Shoutout to Clyte 老师，Yanyan, and Lexi!

This is the perfect spot for anyone that would like to boost their Chinese level! Amazing staff, always helpful for anything you need! The teachers are also professional and experienced. What I do love the most is their teaching method( based on spaced repetition) and content, which is extremely useful daily life. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone! I started studying Mandarin at GoEast, and in less than a year I already feel confident starting conversations and replying to people here in Shanghai. I take classes with teacher Annie, who is excellent and challenges me during the lessons! The school is very pleasant, offers many extra activities for students, and the coordinator Lynn is always concerned about the progress of the course and what can be improved. The online study platform is very useful and helps reinforce the learning. I strongly recommend GoEast to all my friends

Very accommodating working around a busy schedule. Tutors are fantastic, I’ve really enjoyed my time at GoEast.

I really enjoy the lessons, and my private teacher is absolutely wonderful. She patiently walks me through the difficult phases and helps me remember the grammar for each lesson. I always look forward to each new lesson. GoEast is highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn Mandarin.

I’ve been studying Mandarin at GoEast for 9 months already and I am extremely satisfied with my progress! Finally I can hold conversations with native speakers and my language skills will get better in the following months.

My Learning: Online group and one-on-one classes.

Learning Material: GoEast and its staff creates the best Chinese learning material that I've personally used.

Staff: I have always had excellent service with GoEast staff, including both administrators and teachers. They are very flexible and provide exceptional service.

Service: The service is always great. Having a 12 to 13 hour time difference between me and Shanghai business hours, I have never had any issues connecting with the staff.

Technology: GoEast uses Zoom to make stable video sharing connections for online classes. Internet service appears to be strong and rarely do I encounter any issues. It is also very helpful for the student to use the WeChat app to stay connected in near-real time.

Price: GoEast Mandarin lessons are competitive with many other major cities around the world, including the United States. I find quality and value in studying with this organization.

Overall: I would highly recommend starting your learning with GoEast. The structured course material and flexible teaching style that you get here will help expedite your learning experience.

Worst communication ever! I'm in touch with someone name Yanyan who is rude, uneducated seems and Un professional. I asked questions but no responses only an angry commanding responses like I'm not a client for them. Where is the manager who I asked her to connect me with?! I don't want to post her picture!

My daughter I 6 years old and has been getting weekly one to one online lessons for now over a year.
Her teacher Fiona is just amazing and my daughter gets so much out of her lesson even at such a young age.
My daughter watches Netflix in mandarin… and this helps to!
It is quite amazing with technology can you bring the classroom experience into your kitchen table.
I live in Norway and I hope to travel to China in the next year or two and sign my daughter up in summer camp. I think this would reinforce the language for her and also experience the culture as well.

My 16-year-old son recently returned from a two-week Chinese language summer school program in Shanghai, and I can confidently say it was one of the best summer experiences we’ve ever had — and we’ve done many camps over the years.

The program was organized through his school group in collaboration with the Chinese Association in Genova, and from start to finish, everything was handled with the highest level of professionalism. The organization was flawless — from travel arrangements and accommodation to the structure of daily activities and language classes.

What truly stood out was the exceptional care and attention provided to the students. There was 24-hour supervision, and we always felt that our son was in safe and caring hands. Communication with parents was outstanding — we received regular updates, photos, and messages, which really made us feel involved despite being miles away.

The program itself was a perfect blend of intensive language learning and cultural immersion. My son not only improved his Mandarin but also came back with a deeper appreciation for Chinese culture, history, and everyday life in Shanghai. He made new international friends, explored the city, and gained a sense of independence and confidence that only this kind of experience can offer.

My HSK6 book had been collecting dust because I wasn't motivated to start reviewing it myself. So I finally decided to make the investment and book some classes with GoEast - and I'm glad I did!

I hadn't taken a Chinese class in 6 years so I was nervous, by my teacher was very nice and patient as I got back into the swing of things. The 1-1 class means I can't hide behind other students and have to speak more, so my speaking skills have definitely improved in a short amount of tim! I definitely have a long, long way to go to get back to my former level but I really enjoy the structure of GoEast and feel it's what I need to build a strong foundation of Chinese learning again. Outside of class, I'll also motivated to self-study because I know my teacher will ask my so many questions about my day, my opinion on various topics, etc. so I have to be prepared haha!

GoEast has such a friendly, supportive and motivating culture. I studied from HSK1 to the start of HSK4. The group classes were great, very supportive and great actual practice that mimics the real word. There is quite a lot of work to do before and after the classes, but I guess that explains the quick progress I made. I went of a few trips which were well organised, fun, inclusive and a great cultural experience. I have honestly made friends for life from this school. I literally could not recommend enough. A month in China learning Mandarin. I had slowly been learning Mandarin for a few years in the UK but was looking for an opportunity for more concentrated classroom learning in a more immersive environment. GoEast had been recommended to me and I was soon in contact with a Language Consultant and was warmly welcomed by video call. I explained that I wanted to take the GoEast HSK4 equivalent course with 1:1 lessons for 4 hours a day, 4 days a week for 4 weeks. This is so I had more time at weekends to go travelling too. Despite my very specific requirements GoEast would be able to fully accommodate this by assigning me two teachers on alternating days which was great. A learning schedule proposal was sent to me and I chose to take a trial lesson. I really enjoyed the trial lesson and found it was pitched right at my level so signed up for the rest of the classes.

Before I arrived there was guidance offered with arranging visa and accommodation. I already had these sorted and had been to China before so didn't need too much help but knew it was there with a quick response. I also took a few online classes in the UK to familiarise with the GoEast course. This worked really well, there was good flexibility in arranging the time and it was with one of the teachers who was going to teach me in Shanghai.

When I arrived (Xuhui Campus) I had a friendly welcome. I like open plan but cosy office/waiting area at the campus as it has a more inclusive feel and gives an opportunity to chat. Lunchtime was between my classes so I was also always welcome to come and eat my lunch with the staff too which was nice. I was even treated to a milk tea when there was a group order put in :)

The classes themselves were excellent and everything I was hoping for. Both my teachers were qualified and professional and always made it fun. The GoEast HSK4 equivalent course I was following took a more practical approach than the more formal textbook style id been learning before. This helped me to make great progress with my speaking and listening and really expand vocabulary.
The online resources were also very useful to help me review and prepare and I liked that this was included in my learning package. A couple of times I had to adjust my schedule around travel plans and this was accommodated well.

Overall I liked the slightly smaller more personal feel to GoEast. This is what stood out to me when originally researching and comparing against larger companies with multi city schools and my experience definitely met this expectation. Everyone was super friendly, flexible to my schedule, I was made to feel like I belonged there and I would really like to go back. Highly Recommend!
