Don’t trust the booking system of the holy blue
Booked a table for six for family and friends for New Year’s Eve and I’ve been informed that they’ve canceled our booking because they screwed up. No real explanation no compensation and a whole evening ruined with friends who have come over from Ireland to spend the night with us. Not impressed.

After a rubbish Sunday Lunch at £18.95 I was offered another a few weeks later. This was even worse, had I paid for this I would have informed Trading Standards. I called the Brewery, heard nothing, called again a week later, I was told the Manager of the Grasshopper and Area Manager would be contacted.... another week gone by and still nothing.
Tells me nothing will be done so maybe I should call Trading Standards because this establishment is a rip off and they don't care....nor does the brewery it's all about money and profits. Stuff the customer service.

Just paid £21.60 for a pint of moretti and a double rhubarb gin and tonic!! Absolutely disgusting prices!! Shud be ashamed of yourselves. We're not short of money but I think this really does take the michael out of people. Especially when I've been told u don't have the drink I've asked for yet I could see 2+ bottles of it and had to tell you where they were as well....joke!!
Hall and Woodhouse in Bath
Hall and Woodhouse in Bath
Attended for the Christmas (£35 per head set menu) meal with Friends last week. I got charged £65, which I challenged but the waitress had confirmed she had canceled a charge before charging me, only to find out £65 was taken from my bank. I've given a chance to rectify with H&W (Bath) but have had no response.
The food was extremely slow (I understand it was busy), circa 2-3 hours for the 3 courses to come out and the food was average.
No plans to go back and would recommend avoiding.

Hall and Woodhouse in Bath, Old King Street.
Very good service and food for Sunday lunch yesterday.
Excellent manager who accommodated us even though they were busy and we were 1 hour early for our booking.
Very good food, well priced and varied choice, with very good waiting staff.

The World's End Bradford on Tone - Nice all round!
The World's End Bradford on Tone. Met family for a meal and drinks. Lovely decorated pub, easy access. Well presented food, very tasty if a little pricey! Well looked after by Steve, nice bloke!
Disappointed
Just went to The Jolly Sailor at Bursledon 11am for poached eggs on toast and coffee. The lady who served us the food at the table appeared to be a manager, no smile and slammed the plates down on the table! The toast was bread and eggs were hard! We stayed only a few minutes due to lack of effort and noise whilst she was nearby sorting the menus and glasses out for the lunch service! Not how we remembered it! Disappointed is an understatement and won’t be returning!
Disappointing & uncomfortable!
The Ness - Sheldon, Devon
I decided to extend my stay in Devon by one night as I had not visited one of my favourite places, Sheldon.
I booked into The Ness, which had always looked so inviting from the outside. The room was cheerfully decorated and had a balcony, unfortunately looking straight at the forest not the sea, as I had requested.
The en-suite was small but clean. The double bed however was not very comfortable, it had a long lump in the middle, turns out it was actually two single beds pushed together! Metal bar headboards as well, which also added to the discomfort.
I had dinner in the pub restaurant but, after my meal arrived, I got the feeling I had been forgotten about. I waited for quite a while after I had finished my dinner but nobody came to ask me if I wanted anything else. In the end I got fed up waiting and went to the bar to pay, which included a 10% service charge! Which I’m fine with, as long as I get service!
As the rooms are above the pub, it is quite noisy until about 10-11pm. The room was much more expensive than the bigger and more comfortable room I had at my previous hotel and it didn’t even include breakfast!
I will not be recommending or making a return visit. Very disappointed!
Poor/Limited GF Options
We attend The Wiremill Lingfield on Sunday 4th August August 2024 for brunch, after trying to order via the QR Code which sadly didn’t work as I have a food allergy (Gluten intolerance) I was to order at the Bar 2 x Full Breakfast I made the waitress aware that one of the Breakfast would be GF which she acknowledged and asked how we would like our eggs, during the ordering process I wasn’t made aware or given an option that my breakfast would not come with GF alternatives, my Breakfast arrived and was missing both Toast and Sausage……… however I was given 5-7 rashers of Bacon (I was not given an option of the replacement) paying for full price for a Breakfast that was missing items seems unfair and not being made aware items missing and not being replaced with alternatives at the ordering process isn’t a great experience.
While waiting for our breakfast we took the opportunity to review the full menu and I was disappointed that your lack of GF meals are limited to less than 3 meals, this is shocking in this day and age and being a company of over 200 pubs you are not keeping up with modern times that you’re not providing alternatives to items that contains Gluten allow your chiefs to be creative and allow your teams to create a better experience when items are removed and not replaced.
St Peters Finger, a Fathers Day Treat that wasn't great!!!
St Peters Finger, Poole Dorset.
A Fathers Day Treat
Food was cold, and not just ours, cutlery dirty. We have been here many times over the years and have always been happy with the standard of service and the quality of the food, but not this time, when we mentioned the food was cold, the person serving us just said sorry!!!!
Hospitality is under pressure I know I work in it however these are basic issues that should not happen anywhere let alone when you are paying above average prices.
We went to Hall and Woodhouse in…
We went to Hall and Woodhouse in Wichlestow Swindon.
The food was appallingly bad, it was cold and not cooked correctly, this place has a great environment and cosy place to sit, buying a drink can't go wrong as it's not made by H&W so that bits fine .. Food .. ha . What a joke
Hall & Woodhouse Pubs Prefer Animals Over Paying Clients!!
Having recently visited a Hall & Woodhouse pub at Verwood in Dorset, we were shocked to have a dog, who initially seemed friendly, and who was being allowed to roam free in the bar, suddenly turn, and bark AND growl at us! The owners didn't appear to be that bothered, remained in their seats, and didn't bother to put the dog on the lead. This was a most unpleasant experience, which put us on edge, even though we are dog lovers, so we quickly finished our drinks and left. However, because this has become our local, since moving to the area, we decided that rather than avoiding the pub, we would write and suggest that to avoid losing customers who may be afraid of dogs, or a worse possibility, a dog attacking a customer, that they should implement a 'Dogs on Leads ONLY' policy.
Not only did they fail to respond to my email, but when we visited today, a week later, we found ourselves greeted by the same dog which had caused us concerns on our last visit. Rather than risk this dog attacking us, we turned around and left, and will now be making a different pub in the village our local, as it seems clear that the management of the Monmouth Ash, prefer the company of possibly dangerous animals, over paying clients! What a shame!
The new Hall and Woodhouse in…
The new Hall and Woodhouse in Maidenhead is a beautiful building on a lovely position on the river but unfortunately the outside are on the decking isn’t well maintained! Nobody sweeps it and the cushions aren’t put away at night so are soaking wet if it rains and you have to take them off and sit on the chair! Poor management! Also noticed the waiting time for coffees is dire and when ordering pain au raisins they didn’t turn up at all and after 45 minutes got or money back! Shame! Lovely place but poorly managed.
