Bought a poster from from Daniel's Ebay account (devonpicker) which was advertised as an original Sex Pistols God Save The Queen poster.
As we were having major building work carried out at the house due to the previous owner having botched every bit of work done on the house making it unsafe, I decided not to open the poster tube upon arrival due to the sheer volume of brick and plasterboard dust created every day for nearly 3 months as I couldn't risk a £700 poster I'd bought to display in a prime position once complete getting damaged in any way.
Finally, after the building work was completed and decorating done, I took the tube to the framers (he does a lot of work for the city's museums so is an expert at handling and framing delicate pieces!) only to open it and discover it was a modern reprint on heavyweight card paper.
I got back home and messaged him via Ebay after discovering the 90 day return window had just expired, to check whether it was a genuine mistake and he'd sent me the wrong poster. After 7 days, there was still no answer so I messaged again but the message bounced straight back.
He'd blocked me!
That to me was an instant admission of guilt that he knew exactly what he'd done.
I contacted PayPal as I had paid via that but they had reduced their policy from 180 days to 30 since I had last had to contact them about anything. They admitted it was clearly a case of fraud but were powerless to do anything about it as their policy was only 30 days now.
I contacted Ebay and although they understood why I had left it in the tube unopened, they said it was beyond their 90 day window unfortunately and I should "check items straight away in future". I pointed out i had no reason to not trust him so didn't think twice about leaving it unopened for maximum protection.
I'm now having to go through ActionFraud to get them to chase it up as it clearly isn't an original as advertised.
