it gave me a virus

it gave me a virus called "RiskWare.SystemRequirementsLab" by malwarebytes
(look it up for details)

i thought the virus wasn't from the site itself, but i checked my download history and there was no suspicious downloads meaning the website snuck the virus into a jpg i downloaded from the site

Thanks for flagging this. We take security very seriously.

HEICtoJPG does not embed malware in converted images. JPEG files cannot execute code, and what you’re seeing is likely a false positive or related to browser behavior rather than the file itself.

We’d be happy to look into this with you. If you can share more details (file, browser, OS), we’ll investigate further.

Predatory service to get data

DO NOT USE!
This website has the following in their terms:
"You understand that by providing content, materials or information [...] Beamr hereby is and shall be granted a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty free, perpetual, irrevocable, sub licensable and transferable right to use, process, store, copy, reproduce, reformat, translate, modify and create derivative works of your Content"

In simple terms: this means you give them the right to do whatever they please with everything you upload, and there's no confirmation dialogue to ask you if you're sure. You accept these terms, to allow them to do whatever they want with your images, as soon as you upload something and they have no obligation to delete your data.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. I understand why that clause sounds worrying out of context, so I want to clarify how our service actually works.

• You always own your photos. We do not sell, publish, or reuse your images in any way.
• Your original and converted files are automatically deleted from our systems within 48 hours of upload or creation.
• The legal wording you quoted only allows us to technically process, convert, and temporarily store your files, and to run automated checks to prevent illegal content. It does not allow us to use your images for marketing, resale, training, or anything unrelated to providing the service.
• Privacy is a key part of our service. We never use or reproduce your content beyond what is needed to complete your conversion.

Your feedback is valid, and we will work on making this much clearer in our terms. If you have any questions about how we protect your data, I am happy to help.

Nauwelijks moeite

Omdat ik inderdaad gelijk zonder veel moeite 3 foto's kon laten omzetten naar jpg. Het was zo gebeurd. Je mocht max. 5 foto's doen. Wel veel reclame ertussen door.
