There is just no support

There is just no support. I deposited some money, and it did not arrive in my account. I looked and couldnt find any email or phone number to help me sort it out.

Platform and customer service needs improvement

It started off good a few years ago, I thought, then new rules came in. I'm about to sell my stock before price goes down and then "warning!! reminder!!". I lost a lot of money as the prices of the stock I was trading kept going down. I would also like to add, Customer Service can needs 1000% improvement, they talk to you like you have committed a crime - that's not customer service at all. Customer service should be helping, not talk to you like a criminal. You should improve your platform so we do not need to speak with customer service

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Requested to close my account in November last year, received confirmation that account was closed, even double checked with support as I could still log in to my account. Recently started getting emails that I needed to revalidate my account, contacted support and they told me they had no record of my account closure. So if they can't manage that simple task, I wouldn't trust them with much else.

Hellostake is beyond terrible

Hellostake is beyond terrible. This brokerage is the worst in the world. Let me explain. I have been with them for over 9 months. I barely use them as this isn't my main account but i check my holdings every now and again. In that time i have been unable to login or access there website and app a number of times for extended periods of time. So i looked to transfer my shares out of this company to another company when their site was down because thats just unacceptable to have equity assests with a brokerage that can't function properly. It's not like this company offers anything special, they don't offer any good charting tools or have any basic functions like setting alerts for certain stocks or allow you to put in sell or buy orders in that are longer then the period of the current day. You can't trade premarket or after hours. So you would have thought they would be able to function throughout a normal trading day. They haven't been able to do that on a number of occasions. There site was down for a week and i was looking to transfer my shares out of the site to my other brokerage and we couldn't find an address for them, a contact number and my other brokerage had never heard of them. So it was immposible for me to initiate a transfer from my other brokerage at the time. Later we found out that they operate on top of another company called drive wealth. So i contacted them to do a withdrawal when there site was down through email. They took 3 weeks to respond and the DTC transfer that i wanted to do. Was unavailable once they responded to me 3 weeks later. Which is dodgy as hell. They only offered me the most expensive option that was over $100 as opposed to the $15 DTC transfer that was available before there site crashed. So that was the first red flag for me. Later on i decided i wouldn't go that route as they have my information and i don't want them knowing any information about my other brokerage just incase they tried to pull anything dodgy which they were starting to show signs of. Anyway some time had passed and i decided, you know what.. I'm going to cut ties with Hellostake and be done with them and all there problems for good. I don't need there problems being something that can ruin my day in my life. So i sold my shares. And it took 5 f-ing days for my funds to settle and be available for withdrawal. 5 days!! Are you kidding me? Any other brokerage allows your funds to be available the second they are sold for withdrawal or purchasing more stocks provided the first purchase of the shares has settled. Where in the world does somebody or a business sell a product or service and say "aw yeah that's all good, i'll take payment for that in 5 days". No where!! that is insane!! What are they doing with my money in the mean time? Then after it became available to me, i initiated a withdrawal and it said it would take 2-4 business days.. which is insane amount of time and i thought o.k finally i'm going to be done with these c##ts for good.. just a side note.. i send and recieve money from all around the world all the time and it only takes 24 hours to send an recieve international bank transfers anywhere in the world. So anyway... 3 days had pasted and i still hadn't recieved my withdrawal and then i get a message saying that they have only just sent my money to me and that it's going to take another 1-2 business days.. like what the f##k are they doing with my money? They have held it for 3 days before they have initated to send me my f-ing money.. that is insane and i still haven't recieved my money.. this company is beyond shi-t.. i would never recommend this company to anybody after this experience, they are not worth your time or anybodys.. anybody who operates this slow and has this many problems for providing the least amount of possible brokerage services.. deserves a bucket load of hate.. they shouldn't be in business.. i could build my own website and do things alot faster and more effiecntly and offer more services then they do.. what a f-ing joke.. F##k you Hellostake. I can see this company going out of business and not operating in the future AVOID!!! AVOID!!! AVOID!!!!!

More Login Issues - Unresolved and Unanswered!…

Have been using Stake for US Stocks since Sept last with no problems. First problem was during the Robin Hood fiasco. Now a long weekend, and unable to login last nite (trading hours) or this morning and no Support messages!!! Great site when it works. But how do you actually contact them other than an email to a faceless person?? Anyone else having login issues?

Update: Steak has now relaxed their "2-step" process to allow access - so they should. 0 star effect. This is good. Failure to communicate is very bad, very bad. Lose 2 stars for that. This is a Steak management issue/challenge

Convenient and useful

Reading all of the bad reviews leave me confused. I absolutely sympathise with anyone who has a bad experience with losing money, but I have been using Stake for several months and haven't had a single issue.
As someone who was also trading GME when it was pumping, I didn't have any issues.
There were two days of it being a little slow, I'm assuming because the servers being absolutely flooded, but my buys and sells executed as my limits were set, and I'm made happy little profits.
As I understand it, many, many, many online brokerages had similar issues.

There was one issue where my cash wasn't showing up, but I messages Stake, and they answered within 6 hours and explained it was a display glitch being worked on.
It was fixed within that trading day.

I have also contacted support three other times with questions about IPOs and about if they would be adding further features to their service.
Each time they were quick, polite, and thorough in answering.
The only reason I'm giving 4/5 and not 5/5 is because I wish they had a larger range of stocks to trade, including more IPOs, but I understand that is due to DriveWealth, and not Stake.

Thus far, I have been given no reason to mistrust Stake in any way, and I am comfortable and confident in continuing to use Stake.

Closed my position without my permission or warning

They will randomly and without warning close positions you've made. I lost money on ARKG because of this on the 5th of march having only opened the position on the 12th of March. The first i knew of the sell order was when it came through on my email. Im dismayed by this and will close all positions with stake now. Stay away

​​As you may know from the email sent by our support team at the time, in the UK there are certain requirements that need to be met in order for you to trade ETFs. Despite this, you were able to purchase an ETF (ARKG) on your account when it shouldn’t have been available. In rectifying this, we sent you an email explaining that you would either have to sell your holding or it would be automatically liquidated by March 5 – so nothing was done without warning. Please note that any losses incurred will be reimbursed.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. Most of the new stock not available in time to buy. By the time you see them the price is inflated already. Not much scope to make money. I could not find SNDL etc. In their early phase to make profit.

This website isn’t bad because it loses, it’s bad because it takes your funds and refuses help, alongside being very rude. What I am saying is if you deposit, they can simply keep it and they do keep it sometimes.

Easy and simple to use

I just start using Stake. Contrary to all the previous reviewers, my experience has been very positive. No problems transferring money out and adding additional money in. All orders were executed immediately. The interface (both on my laptop and mobile app) is simple and easy to navigate. Maybe the previous bad experience was due to the recent GameStop frenzy which impacted many online brokers.

Impressed

I'm surprised theres so many bad reviews on here for this product. I started using this product because of the Conversations of Money podcast and temped by the free share which I got after funding the account.

Its great for US stocks and the FX rate from GBP to USD is very competitive. So far haven't had any real issues in terms of not being able to buy/sell shares. It's just very solid and the analyst ratings within the app really help provide some context on what I should expect as a potential target price.

Also 0% commission on buying or selling shares which makes it great for a casual investor. Only thing missing now is an ISA wrapper and I think I'd be happy to rate this 5*

Great for investing in US stocks

Been using it just over a year to invest, had no issues. I’ve successfully transferred money out in the past. I haven’t tried it for high frequency trading and I see that a lot of people recently got burned in the GME debacle, but for investing in a big range of US stocks it is great.

Do not use

Do not use, all trades I closed were delayed by up to 4 hours in some cases and I ended up losing a lot of money due to the market falling during the 4 hours. I emailed them asking for support/potential resolution and never got a response.

Horrible experience

I am with Stake for more than a year. Last year Stake was really good. This year is very bad with platform break down and customer service is horrible. No answer my emails. I have been asking the prove if my money has been missing during the platform breakdown but no one answer my email. Money in and out with no prove during platform mess up. I can't trust Stake anymore. So regret transfer too much money to Stake. I don't feel safe anymore.

I’ve been trading US stocks on Stake…

I’ve been trading US stocks on Stake for the last 1.5 years.

Prior to this I had no issues.

When Robinhood started limiting users from trading in GME stock etc, Stake also had problems with not being able to login for hours, many days in a row.

Under the guise of “technical issues”

Seemed like a timed disruption to me as other platforms around the world also have some kind of limitations, in one way or another...

The day when people could login, Stake then limit users from buying GME and some other stocks.

My strategy had been to buy at a low and sell at a high.

Since I couldn’t login to sell, after seeing huge premarket movements, I not only lost my profits but lost some of my initial investments, to the tune of US$10k.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE!! I did a bit of digging, and found that Stake’s solution broker “DriveWealth”, has Point72 as one of their major investors.

Point72 is responsible for bailing out Melvin Capital for losing money on the short squeeze, on GME stocks etc.

So in effect, Stake customers’ inability to login for hours on end, for many days, could very well not be a coincidence.

They might have market-manipulated the price to drop, just because it suits their interests and profit from it.

I wouldn’t trust Stake to handle my money, now that I know they do not have their customers’ best interests at heart.

Such a shame because I was doing well trading US stocks and now I have no option other than to look for an alternative broker that doesn’t trade against their own customers.

Overall very disappointed with Stake.

These people are international financial crooks masquerading as an Aussie company.

Deliberately Misleading

Stake is deliberately misleading. It says that when you move your money from AUD to USD they charge a 0.70% FX fee. They do. But the fee is in USD, not AUD. For example: Move $1000 AUD to USD and Stake SHOULD charge $7 AUD ($1000 x 0.70% = $7 AUD). Instead, they charge you $7 USD! Which works out to be $9.20 AUD or 0.92%. RIP OFF! And there is absolutely no way of contacting them either, other than through their messaging service which, they claim, takes up to 3 business days to get a response. Terrible. Avoid!
